Danza del altiplano is the development of a bailecito entitled Viva Jujuy. Jujuy is a province in North-West Argentina and the bailecito is a gracious and not to fast dance originally from Peru which spread out largely in Bolivia and in various Argentine provinces during the first half of the 19th century.
