Yes, that happens to me sometimes when people I go into a store. And it's all kids stuff. I get that look too everybody . I'm a lot of things so I aint no different than all of us. Collecting Breyer horses.
One time I was taking pictures of my Breyers at the beach and you wouldn’t believe how many people were staring at me! I mean, you wouldn’t think that it would be such a big deal but you see all the looks that people are giving you… is it really that weird???
LOL omg I get that to if I go out in public! I’m thinking people think it is….I also had someone ask me one time why I wasn’t taking photos of my real horse….
People can be pretty awful like that - I got dirty looks just using a computer at the public library, for looking at emails and doing a few other little jobs online. Not that anyone giving me those looks could see my screen but I was like, “really?”
Years ago when I was much younger I was taking some pictures in a local park and a park employee actually stopped and came over to ask me what I had in the box (I hadn't quite got myself set up yet). So I had to explain I was out there taking pictures of my model horses for my hobby. He thought maybe I had some animal I was releasing into the park! Apparently some people will catch a wild animal and then relocate it into the park which is not always a good thing. I was embarassed but we had a laugh about it. I still go to the park to do outdoor pics but I have gotten to a point in my life that I don't care what anyone thinks anymore. If they want to ask I'll gladly tell them but they don't bother me anymore. Fortunately I've not ran into a situation where someone's been particularly rude.
Honestly, if you don't explain you collect, you'd think they would still not judge what you're buying. You're just buying things, and I feel like a normal enough thought would be, "oh, it's a surprise gift for kids!" and leave no further reason for judgement or staring. Like is that also strange to these people?
I always feel awkward walking into my local tsc, especially if I'm stopping after work in my office dress clothes. I look like I clearly don't belong here, and then only buy "toy" horses.

I couldn’t agree more! I hate when they make you feel super awkward especially when there are two cashiers questioning your choices lol.
