When Manny sees his train for the 1st time and get on board, look at the lash ups. When the camera is panning, GP40, GP7u, GP7u, no F7A. The GP7u's have custom high hood frames for the movie (not complete accurate) The high hoods are higher than the body frame. Now they could have use real GP7's for that shot but other scenes you can tell. ARR 1810 & 1812 were gp7u low noses. They also use Ex-Army GP7's, That explain why it had ARR type-b trucks. I'm not for sure they are the same 1810 & 1812 locomotive. Sometimes you tend to see EMD trucks instead the Alco trucks. When the engineer started the locomotive, he puts it notch 8, but's it is in neutral. The locomotive numbering is changed for the movie except the lead unit. (GP40 3010), (F7A 1500 is 500), (GP7u 1810 is 810) & (GP7u 1812 is 812).
2:41 Even though the movie used different GP40's, 38's & 35's, look at the windows. This shot, Alaska's Southern Pacific's "L shaped window". (2nd unit) Alaska 1500 loco window is all ready knocked out!
You know for a movie that was release in theaters, you would think they would have sense enough to know that railfans, railroad workers, or people in general would say wait a minute. Lots of mistakes like that would be on television.
There is another goof you missed, when Manny sees his train coming out of the steam the GP7s have Bromberg trucks, the next few scenes the GP7s have Alco AAR trucks, the crash scene they have Blomberg trucks again, then back to AAR trucks for most of the movie.
0:51 - 1:09 During the crash you see the train entering the siding. 1:38 Look closely at the siding track. When the train finished the crash, remember the turnout 0:51 - 1:09? THAT WAS NOT THE TRAIN WAS GOING! (It was going the opposite direction!) The crash scene showed the turnout and the switch stand to the left, making the train going in the wrong direction!
0:33 That's Alaska's RR blue and yellow paint scheme. I never understand WHY would they use that coal train that has nothing to do with the wreck. 0:46 Alaska's old black and gold paint scheme.
Keep in mind the Cannon Group, Golan-Globus had serious financial difficulties though out the 80's. Thats why their movies look cheap when you watch it. Runaway Train did the best job but others, it looked like it made for televison. Penitentiary 3, Street Smarts, Death Wish 2 though 5, ect. You take Death Wish 4 for example, Paul Kersey was escaping out of the police car while being handcuffed, they were using Runaway Train crash theme for the scene.
I know goof it has blood on coupler from manny’s hand. He went back to the backside couple and there’s some little blood spots but the coupler wasn’t cover it. I don’t know if was true but I saw it.
@@DarknessFollowsYouAround That makes sense. What about the gp7's hand rails damage from the caboose crash. All pieces when flying in the air and the hand rails did not damage it. How about that goof.

You might need to excuse the weather issues. The movie company can’t control the weather

4:49 Last unit is a dynamic loco. Both last two units are NOT dynamic braking units. The 1st unit looked like a GP35 instead a 40.
3:20 runaway train: im going to kill you caboose
the dead internet theory is real
1:09 Alco/GE MRS1 (1605) Note the Alaska Railroad name covered up.
The biggest goof I found was that When Al is getting the Loco Ready to move the Reverser is in Neutral

Maybe snow covered it or it just blew off
