UHF and VHF antennas / aerials propagate from the middle of the pole. An antenna, has, in the center, two vertical metal rods, with an alternating or direct current applied at its center from a radio transmitter. A long/tall antenna with the rods extending the length provides maximum coverage. However, our bush antennas are mostly half-wave dipoles, with just one rod or collinear rods which fakes reactance but provides some impedance matching. The best antennas are tall, like a sand flag, and have various 'plug-in points' to the transmitter, depending on the dB required at various places in terrain. I would have liked to have seen the same science that is applied to suspension, applied to the comms piece on this build.
