    For shorthanded bluewater voyages, the security of a center cockpit is a thing. The enclosure also tends to offset any spray.
    The aft cabin also affords some "away time" opportunities that doesn't feel like "time out"

    I recently saw another where the wife gets sea sick easily. She actually said the best place for her is in the cockpit. They have a CC! She also said she notices less motion from front to rear.
    I was going to mention the engine access also. But someone already brought it up.

    5:09 Clearly the baby has already created an opinion , did you understood it. I think she/he said "I want a big cabin for myself!" ;-)))

      A cabin on the other end of the boat is a firm requirement for him. That's one thing I really like about the center cockpits. 2 nice cabins as far apart as possible :)

      ;-))
      I also am going back and forward between Center and aft.
      Fyi: There is one boat builder that has a master state room at the back and still has an aft cockpit: "Wauquiez"
      example: www.wauquiez.com/en/pilot-saloon/pilot-saloon-48
      That's kind of the third type!

    personally i am a center cockpit fan if only for sleeping , no chain noise when on the pick way less movement at sea and quiet compered to FWD cabin , much better for living on or long passages . I have had both in various forms

    The Hanse 415 cockpit will not on another 415 size boat result in the cockpit in the picture, as thats from a much larger rassy and is ONE of two aft cockpits. bit theoretical but still some valid observations

    definitely is a big question. I like the Nautcats they are kind off the midle of the wall.

    Hello and thanks for a good series of episodes. But here's a curve ball.. there are centercockpit boats who has a very spatius cockpits. I'm ofcourse part in the subjets im going to mention, these at pretty old boats but i think they still going strong, mine is in a great shape and i trust it with allmost any weather or chalange. So take a look at the Swedish Maxi boats. The old Maxi 95, 31 feet, the one i got & the Maxi 108, 35 feet. Not very big boats on the outside but clevrerly designed.

      The Maxi 108 is an interesting design. I like the cockpit, after cabin, and fact that it has 2 separate nice sized cabins in 38 feet.
      Like most generalizations saying center cockpit boats have small cockpits won't hold true for every instance, just most of them.

    Not bad at all! But I miss a very importent point for long Distant Cruising. At a CC you most have much better space for the engineroom and more space around. I prefer that to maintain or repair. Best of all is Amel at that Point.

      @mumblic 6 років тому +1

      If you are talking about the Amel 54, 55 or 50, I agree they are one of the best out there, but not for everybody's budget!
      Don't forget the Amels are a special case of CC boats, because of the forward position of the helm. As far I know, (unfortunately) there are a just a few other examples out there. A "Beneteau Oceanis cc 42" comes to might(some models)! Ideally you also need at least a 50 foot boat to make this work.
      If you have other example, please feel free to share!

    It is another thing you forgot. You can find CC Yachts as well with deep cockpits, i.e. the old Dufour Sortilege, the older Vindö 50th the older HR. they all do not have the disadvantage of the high seat. Additional they have a massive engine room sometimes the "problem" that you have to go via the cockpit into the aft cabin. A windvane is never a problem. Only the smaller salon can be a disadvantage. Center Cockpits makes only sense if you have at least 40 foot yachts. All smaller yachts don't have enough space.

    Thank you. What about a pilot house? especially seeing that you probably spend a lot of time being moored when you live aboard so that you are not cooped up inside the boat all the time especially in bad weather? I am planning to buy a boat so I really would like your view on that.

    Hello, Thank you. I am enjoying this series. Just wanted to let you know that your microphone is very sensitive. It picks up your voice very well. You could use a normal speaking voice and no need to project to the back of the auditorium. We all vary the pitch and intensity of our voices (unconsciously) when in competition with other noise in a room. And while some people think baby noise is happy noise, I am not one of them. For those of us with little or no exposure to children it can be very painful to listen to. It seems that parents often can not hear it or just accept it. I could hear every small sound the baby made as though it were louder then you. Very distracting. But sometimes you just have to feed the baby while recording a video.

    • @CouchCruisers
      @CouchCruisers  6 років тому +1

      Thank you for the feed back. I was exactly the same way until I had a baby. I think parent ears Build up baby scream resistant scare tissue. :) I'll see what I can do to hit a more moderate volume level on the recording so viewers can adjust their speakers as desired.

      but if you just STOP feeding the baby for a few days, doesn't it stop making noise? :-)
