    About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
    My channel is these things:
    1. A place to share my songs - via various 'Back on Track' video series - in which you'll see each song idea evolve step-by-step, with me (hopefully!) improving my song-writing skills as we go.
    2. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase.
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

This has slowly becoming one of my most favorite symths in the Atruria collection. I wish Steinberg would take a page drom this screen section of the symth for Halion. Even though this would be the equivalent of one zone in the Halion universe, this is still just as powerful as anyone of the oscelators as Halion. And the accessibity to all the functions and features is so much more pleasant on the eyes and easy to grasp..thats why i end up using more "specialized" Synths when it comes to patch creation like this majestic beast and only use presets with Halion 7 and Falcon

I completely understand where you're coming from. I love my eye candy too :) And these Arturia recreations are beautiful...

I never paid much attention to this synth. Now I can't wait for the next episode. Thanks again, Anthony.

Learning how a synth works, and in particular this Synclavier-V, is key to to experimentation and considering how to use it in our song creativity. I've used some of the pre-sets, but didn't realise how versitile & complicated this synth actually is. Thanks Anthony

Thanks for the feedback Gary. Yes, it's very deep. Unlike some other digital synths of yesteryear I think this one still really holds up.

Agree. If you haven't heard Zappa's "Jazz From Hell" that features the Synclavier you might be tickled in ways you never heard. That album may not be everyone's cup of tea, but his use of this "machine" is probably still unrivaled. (It did win a Grammy actually). He also used it on Civilization Phase Three. IMHO, the Synclavier still has much to give us.

@@OneManAndHisSongs The original phrase was said about London a hundred or so years ago -- but the Synclavier is so vast I dont think you could ever tire of finding new ideas from it

Samuel Johnson said it... He was a little before the Synclavier. 🙂@@annother3350

You do an absolutely great job with all these V-collection tutorials! I started using them as my main reference for these instruments and decided to join your patreon out of appreciation for all the work you put into this.
Those disappearing envelopes must be a bug, hopefully Arturia will fix it in an update. The DX7 V has a similar envelop page, where they don't disappear like here.

Excellent overview of a pretty awesome emulation of a complex synth. One weird this, at 18:10 you mention that when looking at the envelopes, they disappeared once you stopped holding down the key. This doesn't happen with me. Letting the key go, shows how the release and decay continue on the envelope. Odd that.

From what I understand, Arturia has some of the original Synclavier code in the VST.

Very cool. I'm personally really glad that they emulate the originals so closely - it makes me feel a kinship to them that some of the more modern, clinically "perfect" tools don't always offer.

For many decades years I dreamed of owning a Synclavier or Fairlight. But financially unobtainable.
Luckily I have a Synclavier on my iPad and for the Fairlight there's QasarBeach 🙂
