It's because they keep writing the same song over and over. But in a different style, and instead of repeating "rattlesnake" they repeat "Self immolate". And instead of a microtonal trippy riff, it's a thrash riff instead. I heard many good things about this band for years before I finally checked them out. And I really gave them a good chance. I really wanted to like them. But they just do not live up to the hype. Are they creative? Not really...Are they experimental? Definitely. Do they write good songs? Most would argue not. Do they have some good music in spite of all this? Yeah, sure. I kinda liked one or two of them. But yeah. The reason they sound the same, is because they sound the same. No matter how many different styles they sound the same in, they're always gonna keep sounding the same. Who'da thunk it?
Hunter Simons just listening to a LOT of music with odd time signatures and slowly learning how they feel and then how to count them out. Most weird ones like this are felt in simpler parts, the main riff from this goes 4+4+4+3 each phrase adding up to 15/16
