Wow ! The bar is one of the most important things the company should have made quality part if they are thinking safety
I just bought the saw today and exactly the same thing happened to me! I am brining it back to Lowes. I also had one of the plastic tabs break! The saw cut really well otherwise.
Thanks for sharing. I haven't had any more problems but I think the bar is a weak link in this saw.
I like the kill switch that resets. More convenient than my 034 in that respect.
Yes,sharpen chain, but need to keep chain tensioned and that will be the only reason for chain to jump unless bar is not the right for that chain.
Been cutting for 40 years and never had chain come off. Be safe!
Well Robert, Congrats as you must have been born with a chainsaw in your mits!
I don't know of many that have not had a chain come off. You are correct about tension and all, but if a saw gets bound up, and it twists or buckles the chain, it can come off later. The Creator here should not have tried to file down the guides but rather get a new chain. His saw is not tuned well, and chain is terribly dull in this video. Stay safe Peace
I have the same saw. My chain popped off too, had to take a file to the chain as well after 20 minutes of fooling with it I Ended up going and buying another chain cause I never could get the original chain to fit back into the bar the way it needed to.. love the saw though never had any problems other than the chain coming off. It's never happened to me again. KNOCK ON WOOD.
I agree the Husqvarna is probably turning around 10.000+ rpms where poulan truns 7500 max look it up the difference will amaze ya but cool video
I have the Husqvarna 455 Rancher and find it excellent! Models in the UK differ slightly from those in the US I think, they are generally more expensive too!
Once the chain jumps off it's time to get a new chain. You will wreck your bar trying to get it to work. The chain jumps off because you didn't have enough tension on the chain.
I’ve owned a Husqvarna 440 for since 2011 and I yet have to break one of those plastic clips. I didn’t know it had a little crack in it but it never had no issue.
I have an 18” Poulan still use when I’m in deep woods. Just picked up a Husqvarna 450e Rancher 20”. 💪
Wohoo Freedom Fries God bless America!
iv had it happen to mine 3 times rececked 3 chains its not the bar its the chain cacher on inside by the cluch the chain junps off and that chain cacher caches the chain and the cluch snaps the teeth when you take the cover off look at the bottom ov the saw a small aluminum do thier thats whats doing it im tempted to take mine off
I just worked on one of these for the first time and it was much different than the older saws. Had to replace fuel lines and intake boots. Not a pleasant experience for me. I did learn a lot though.
Thanks, hope I don't have to deal with that for a long time, but that's good to know.
the bar will safty lock up on most of the brakes on the huskys mine did the same thing as well but when mine did that i had to replace the bar and chain the husky bars and chain are not work a crud Oregon or total or jonsred stihl bars and chains are the best
Dude, your chain is dull or you haven't filed down your chain guides. I agree this is a great saw but you should have cut through that block of wood at the end of your video in a few seconds. Again, I suggest sharpen the chain and check that your guides are filed down. The wood chips coming out of the saw should be shavings not dust.
I bought one an I loved it but within first hr of sawing exact same thing happend to me like exactly it’s like 3 or 4 teeth guides that just won’t go in the track
That last vertical cut was terrible. Sure looked like the chain was quite dull. Dust on a rip cut?
whv you think they $60 screw orgen bars
Love mine!!!
I recommend the Carbide tipped saw chain and use pre mix gas from True fuel or the STIHL brand.
My only concern is that one bolt for the bar and chain.. does it stay tight? I've ordered a 450 and about to find out soon either way.
Yes it stays as tight as any 2 bolt saw I've run. Getting the saw caught in a pinch is what seems to stretch the chains the most. When I do that I have to adjust it more often, but it's not because of the single bolt. It's a great saw, good luck.
Husq 450 farm saw here. Same thing happened to my chain this morning from a side cut off a two inch branch. It's the second time I've used it. I started filing the inside of the chain off and then read if more than two link have issues, it will damage my saw. I'm off to buy a new chain
It's a 'HUSKY' in Australia, no drama speaking English with an 'Aussie accent - pronounced OZY. 👍
Same thing happened to me, ruined my chain. So i ordered 3 more. The original chain was mauled up pretty well.
Also the cc’s makes it outwork the poulan
Is it really pronounced pool lawn? I thought it was pole an.
@@pickleberryyum404 That's so true. On my way to buy this saw, I threw my Poulan Pro away at the transfer station. It's just garbage.
A LOT of people have had chains fly off the 450 ...... must have seen a dozen comments - ( One nut to secure the bar? -unprofessional.) I love Husqvarna - but I'm leery about buying a 450 ..... Have had a 435 for 13 years , 80 chains through it - have never thrown a chain ...... ??
Extremely Dull chain. You should have ripped through that tiny log in 4 seconds. Get a file and go get the gullet
The new Husqvarna X-Force bars are really nice. Way better than the old style bars. Just put a 16" X-Force on my 450. I've had 18" and 20" bars and now a 16 on the 450. Cuts like butter. Might need to file the rakers on that chain. Cutting way to slow. Cut them rakers down some and let her eat.
Thanks I'll check in to the x-force. Yeah, I need a sharpening kit just not sure which one to get any recommendations.
Oregon makes good files and guides. Just get a good file guide, and some round files, and a flat file. I'd hit the rakers, with a flat file, just a few passes on them once about every 3rd or 4th time you sharpen the cutting teeth. Gotta file them rakers down every so often or it will get to where the chain won't hardly cut. Typically when we cut in the logging woods we will file the rakers at the start of every day, then just sharpen the teeth the rest of the day. We'll burn a tank, then hit the teeth a few licks each before filling up with gas and oil. Typically burn 4 tanks a day.
@@brandonhamilton3416 Thanks bud, I'm going to be cutting a lot more firewood in the coming months and Ive been looking into different sharpening methods. So far the good ole tried but true round/flat files with a guide seem to be the best way. If you're burning 4 tanks a day you know what you're talking about. I appreciate the advise.
Your chain needs sharpened bad by the looks of how it's cutting. Cutting with a dull chain is harder on the saw... and you.
I threw a chain while cutting because the bar got pinched, It bent a few of the drive links as well. I laid it on a hard flat service and was able to remove most of it with a hammer to where it would fit and ride around the bar smooth. Initially it wouldn't fit into the bar groove at all.
I have a Husqvarna 440e w/an 18" bar. Not the version with that tool-less bar adjuster. It's my limbing saw as it's light and snappy. The AV system on Husqvarna chainsaws is one of the best. Your 450 is a great chainsaw. The Stihl 250 has a little more hp and is lighter, but the control switch is counter intuitive. Husqvarna and other brands do it right... Down for off just like a light switch in your home.
Keep you saw maintained and your chain sharp and you should get a long and happy life out of that saw.
I think you might have been making a rip cut on that oak piece with a cross cut chain. A ripping chain would eat that log up like butter and it would be much easier on the engine.
Yes I was using the factory cross cut chain. I've never used a rip chain but I want one for future chainsaw milling. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try sometime.
@@TheHandsOnChannel I'm getting a Huquvarna 455 and the FIRST I plan on buying is an Oregon bar and a few high quality chains. I have a 3 foot wide chunk of Oak on my front lawn and I don't want to know what that would so to the stick bar and not so great chain. After that piece is cut up it's mostly more manageable size trees I'll be tackling. My Craftsman saw doesn't look like it wants to come back to life.
Who on here recommends this 450 over the Sthil 251CBE.
I’m thinking maybe that chain has overheated if it bent
Yeah you may be right. I tried to sharpen it and it still wasn't as good as new. I put a new chain on and wow it cuts like butter.
I had a problem with the chain get loose and destroy the chain right out of the box
Lots of problems with saws these days are caused by ethanol in the fuel. When my father bought his 450, they had an emphatic message come up about it at the cash register .
I agree, I never use it except when I have to on road trips. I wish they would remove the mandate that requires 10% ethanol.
the way u tighten the chain is very impartant
Chain shouldn't be spinning unless you pull the throttle. Check your idle.
Put a 18” Oregon chain combo on their and it would have sliced through that same cut in half the time.
They are called chips not frys jk. Nice saw I just picked one up
Poulans are related to Husqvarna, btw.
The Hands On Channel I understand Jonsreds is connected to them as well now.
Thanks goofball
I have a husqvarna 450 also and I towed the chain away. It cuts much better with out it.
I sharpen the bar to a razor edge. I don't even run the engine anymore. Humm , I think I'm a going to buy anouther 450.
I use to tie ropes to my trees and pull them out of the ground with my motercyle.
wow sharpen the chain
I got a husqvarna 980cc with a 95 inch bar. And I use a 140 tooth carbide chain with 3/8 pitch and 0.900 thick guides. I can cut true a 8 foot oak in 30 seconds. Saw weight is 300 lbs. I have supper charged the engine to a 200 horse power. I have a cadalc muffler on it.
I mostly use it for pruning my bushes in frount of my house. I cut down my nabors frount door steps just for fun.
I have a big saw I use for serious stuff. It's a lot bigger and more powerful.
the bar is the best one it was your fault you messed it up
A dull chain will destroy a saw. The saw works too hard and overheats. Buy a new chain, keep it out of the dirt.
Yeah I should do a followup video with a fresh chain. It does make a world of difference.
Don't know where that extra 'a' came from. ua-cam.com/video/hLDPLZLPtyo/v-deo.html
Husqvarna Hasqovarna lol same shit
Tune. Your. Saw.
Sharpen. Your. Chain.
Seriously!
Nisi je zagrijo i tupa je
Chain is dull AF
Sorry bro but if you pronounce Poulan properly instead of "pullin", youre not a true american eating freedom fries
Not very sharp
Its a little dull but it's mostly the type of wood I'm cutting. Blackjack oak will dull a blade quick. Thanks for commenting.
they put cheap chains on them out the door !go to a saw shop and ask 4 a comercial chain ! big difference! they dont temper like the cheap chains.
Oh,Shucks derns
Hi, great video. I have a 450 made in 2016. I found that 20” was too much bar for the oiler. Once I replaced it with an 18” x .058 bar it really rips. I cut 5-10 cords a year. Great saws
Great tip!
Mine came with a 18 inch bar and it cuts just fine an no trouble with the bar so far
I right away reemed out the oiler on the bar for my dads 450 rancher!
