Nas versus Jay should be higher ranked because even today’s battle between drinking and Kendrick took energy from what Nas and Jay had
Top 5 Hip Hop Record Battles
1) Kendrick vs Drake
2)Nas vs Jay Z and Rocafella
3) MC Shan vs KRS 1 and others
4) Kool Moe Dee vs LL Cool J
5) NWA vs Ice Cube
Kool Moe Dee Vs LL should be on the list why because again there were parts of the Drake and Kendrick battle was reminiscent of the Kool Moe Dee versus LL battle . Drake unknowingly attempted to do what LL did with his record family matters which mirrored to the break of Dawnn by LL Cool J when he took on multiple rappers . LL to The Break of Dawn was a better progenitor version of Family Matters.
Couple of the few differences between the LL Cool J versus Kool Moe Dee and the Drake versus Kendrick Lamar is the speed at which the diss records were coming out . And the next thing is that in LL Cool J versus Kool Moe both the MC’s were no doubt writing their own rhymes. There were no Caspers with pens in the background.
Those lists say a lot about how much social media has changed how hiphop beefs forever… and it feels like this one is not nearly done.

The way you guys are talking is as if MC Shan wasn’t putting in work . MC Shan was the Crown Prince of Rap at the time KRS one came at him and the juice crew.. and at the time Shan was the top ghost writer in the industry. And the people he ghost wrote for came at him at the same time KRS one was coming at him . And not to mention, Shan record disses going on with LL at the time as well . Shans first two albums of bona fide Classics. Just remember for KRS to be so great. He had to take on a goliath. Shan had a number one selling record in the street at the time. KRS went up against him . 🎤
