Hey, how deep of a container for onions and leeks? I have Alison Craig (the big one) as well as smaller red onions. I also have leeks, which I wish to place in containers as well. Both the onions and leeks are currently in small pots ready to be transplanted. I live on the west coast of Canada.
I always plant seeds into pot trays and have mixed results. It looks like you sow into just trays and pull the seedlings apart. This seems a better method. I never know which method to use, same with cabbage, kale, etc.
If they made a wide wheeled scooter chair to propel me down the row maybe? If I tried to straddle a row like that they would put me in the ground! Peace and blessings.
I didnt know onions would survive if you trim the roots before planting, but I couldn't straddle the row like you do... I'd be in a wheelchair for life that method is only good for young whippersnappers with indestructible legs and back.. ha...
Didn't realize you could trim both tops and roots before transplant. Will be helpful next year.
Nice bit of ' Dad Guarding' there over the stick in the ground ;)
Best UA-cam video in awhile. Thanks.
So true with rhythm and consistency
Hey Curtis, love the homesteading videos but sure do miss the farming content. I always pick something up with your videos that help me.
Having a rhythm with the job works for me. Great tip!
So, so cool to see a gardening video, a NEW gardening video!
First vdo I watch of you in a while and again so surprised of the practical knowledge bombs you keep dropping
Nice yo watch you planting again Curtis!
Nice work, keep it up. Looks like you're high enough on that mountain to talk to God. Send your prayers up, and your roots down deep.
Nice to see your first planting out in those beds...the start of dreams becoming realised :)
Back to basics. I like it. Cheers 🇬🇧
Super helpful, thank you! Also, very relatable with managing kiddos at the same time
Extreeeemely helpful. Thanks to you and your helper.
This little guy is giving me life 😂🤣😅
You are my master, thanks Curtis!!!
Short sweet and too the point! Great vid for onions 👍👍
Yes, much more effective...Thank you for sharing
Giraffeing it! Only way I can reach the ground now! I usually sit in the dirt to plant because I can't lean over easily.
ThankYou 🥰

will planting them like this get large bulbs for storage?
That would give me a back ache.
what is the spacing on these? Are you going closer because it's pretty late for onions?
30 inch bed 4 rows is 7.5 inches. 2-3inch in row as he mentioned.
Love the transplanting of a toddler! 😂
No pain no gain
Are you transplanting the onion, or is the onion transplanting you?
I love it
What do you put on the end of the rake tines to mark rows?

👍 Crushing
Cool e oh
Paper pot transplanter not used/helpful any more?
This is a video about hand transplanting.
I wish I'd seen this 2 weeks ago. I looked like a Mongolid trying to gently untangle onion roots.

Yes, well I cannot display something that works for everyone in their own context.
