Had a mate loose his finger with a winch recently Denny, there's a story there and funnily enough it involves an LN106 too! Please for your sake keep your hands away from the fairlead, I know its unlikely but its always good to have enough room to react 👍

So far on 2 trucks, 2 different sizes I find them as good as you could have a road friendly M/T.. They seem very grippy for sure and still quiet on the blacktop...
your right about those tyre pressures I was accidentally running 10psi and it made a huge difference right till the end on my way out it came off the bead . also i found a new old track u haven't been on that would be good for bullet truck to attempt . it's kinda near the power lines , north east corner .
last Saturday we had to winch two massive tress that had fallen over across the track . the second one the tree we were winching from almost fell over too .
The 'Lux has very good flex in front, but looks like the rear needs more droop. Nothing wrong with a bit of shovel work on that embankment, rather than soil your winch rope. Cats can be scun different ways .Was it a CV or just the free-wheel hub drive? Tip, never let the winch rope pull through your hand and you want to have your hands at least 500mm away from the hawse. It only takes a small twig stuck in the rope to come along and snag your hand and before you can react, your hand is inside the hawse. Not pretty. Could not agree more about the bike comment, though!!

probably lucky that you had a look under the bonnet and found that pipe before it coursed to much damage.

was that low range?.......... I find the Hilux's have better control in low range
