In 2016, Nigel Farage helped crash the pound in order to make around GBP500m for his supporters in Brexit supporting hedge funds. Despite insider trading being theoretically a crime, he went unpunished and except for financial journalists, uninvestigated. I am not a conspiracy theorist but given the fortunes being made by some, it makes me wonder if this was not done deliberately.

I suspect some have made money out of it, yes. It was almost certainly done deliberately though, for different reasons - to attract investment back to the UK by offering low taxes and a big return for your dollar, Euro, etc. Last year was a record year for UK buyouts from abroad, and this year will no doubt surpass it. In finance alone, £1Tn has left London, along with 400 companies and 7,000 jobs. Other sectors have suffered, the taxation hole is obviously enormous, and this is a desperate attempt to bring that business back.
