"Mick Jagger Is A BAD SINGER!" Piers Morgan and Shaun Ryder React To Glastonbury
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 чер 2022
- After an eventful Glastonbury 2022 took place over the weekend, Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, broadcaster Adam Boulton and TalkTV contributor Esther Krakue to discuss and react to some of the notable performances.
Piers starts off by showing a compilation of Paul McCartney and Diana Ross performing, suggesting they're not at their best at this stage in their career. Shaun responds by saying that at these events you don't have a lot of time for soundchecks and musicians are rushed on stage to perform, so they aren't going to sound their best.
Piers says McCartney sounded good but Diana sounded like "a bunch of drowning cats". He then points out that not all performers have the best vocals, calling Mick Jagger a "bad singer". Shaun is horrified by this claim, telling Piers "you can't say that!" while talking about the Rolling Stones legend.

Is Piers being too harsh on Mick Jagger and Diana Ross?
No Diana Ross was an embaressment
@@cameroncopus9737 She’s nearly an 80 year old woman 🤣🤣
@@Ltforlife22 Yes more reason for her to give up then
He had a point with Diana.....but don't diss Mick 😠
Not that Mick could give a .........
Nope. Its good, cus it will raise the bar of standards.... Which by the way have been preeeety lowered since i got into playing live in the 80's. We had to deliver or u got slaughtered. So if u go on stage, claiming millions for it.. You better fuckin' deliver ! Pardon le'french ;)
Nice one Shaun for sticking up for Mick.....love you and Bez
At least they are not trying to cover up their flaws with auto-tune like so many young stars are today.
Fair play Shaun, well said, Shaun knows what it's like on stage, Piers knows fuck all!
Even on a good day, if he’s lucky!
It's nice to see that Piers Morgan is still the only interviewer who not only answers his own questions after asking them but is the only interviewer who speaks more than the person he is supposedly interviewing.
I'm not sure if his head is bigger metaphorically or physically.
@MR MISTER You wouldn't think so but we live in strange times so I'm sure there are a few people out there who have bought his phoney facade. One thing is for sure though.... nobody likes Piers Morgan more than Piers Morgan loves himself and the sound of his own voice.
I can't stand the prick personally.
Another shameless panderer to 45- his shameless Ignoramus-in-Chief.
Morgan might as well just have himself at a desk asking interviewing himself because he has no interest in listening to other people
@@benjack8477 Exactly.
There is only one voice and one opinion he wants to hear and to be heard and that's his own.
Quite often I agree with what he has to say but I am a big supporter of allowing both sides of any issue to have their say. Especially if you are going to have people on a show to debate something.
He is a pompous prick and his enormous head matches his ego.
Jagger is a brilliant singer, Morgan doesn’t understand
Jagger is a unique vocalist not a conventional singer but his vocals make the Stones classic hits phenomenal
If been professional musician from 19 for more than 30 years and you are spot on
Piers is so wrong! Mick Jagger is a unique vocalist, no one sounds like him, some try, Michael Hutchence, and so on.. but his vocals on Moonlight Mile, Winter, Honky Tonk, Angie, Love Is Strong, Get off of My Cloud, Under My Thumb, Doom and Gloom, Waiting on a Friend… give me a break! Jaggers amazing! and his voice is the same,, and he still the #1 performer.
@@SATELLITEUTUBE Jagger and McCartney singing way better than for example Jon Bon Jovi or Paul Stanley (they ruined there voices completely). And Jagger and McCartney are way much older! (10-20 years more)
Mick is not any impressive singer limited vocal range and has very sloppy pronunciation
Shaun Ryder is a boss fella..great on him for not slagging people off
Shaun Ryder what a nice down to earth block knows the business , total respect
Even if McCartney's voice was off a tad it's not just his voice we focus on it's the SHOW and he put on a fantastic one! The poor bugger is 80 and he gave us 3 1/2 hours. What a legend!!
He's not a singer, he's a rock n roll vocalist.
Exactly! Two entirely different things!
No one in rock history can bring both high falsettos and deep blues baritones to a song like Jagger. His vocal emphasis on song lyrics are legendary--elevating many of the RS songs. In addition, many rock singers are completely unable to deliver after 50--while Jagger still delivers at almost 80. I think the success of the Stones being on top for 60 years speaks for itself. No other rock band comes close to that longevity coupled with relavance.
On top?..in actuality the stones were great from 1968 to 1978...ten years on top...fifty years playing the same old tired song set.
@@richardlawson6787 THey would be legendary if they had quit by 68. And thye have produced good stuff past 79. Again, no other group compares.
Prince could
Piers is right jagger never was a good singer he is a great perfermer freddie was bout great singer kick ass perfermer
Roger Daltry from the same era, can still belt it out!
Diana Ross is 78, Mick Jagger is 78,and Paul McCartney is 80 so I guess the vocals aren't as good anymore, but they still sound fabulous, I wish I sound that good at that age I move like them,
Tom Jones is older and a better singer. Diana and McFartney are dug up crap.
PATTI LABELLE/ GLADYS KNIGHT SAME AGE GROUP BUT BOTH CAN STILL SING THE PHONE BOOK FLAWLESSLY!!!
They sound awful
@@rontrivett4146 Pet Clark- (nigh-on ninety- definitely still got it), Tony Bennett- (ninety-five- definitely still got it!)
Say what you like about the old school rock/pop stars but id rather go to a concert by legends such as The Stones, Pink Floyd, Queen, U2, REM, Ac/dc etc because they all put on one hell of a show compared with the famous for 5 mins garbage that you get from mainstream music these days.
Problem is those bands you mention no longer exist...most have only one or two original members and they can't perform good anymore...
@@richardlawson6787 Pretty sure The rolling stones, U2 and even Queen { although without Freddie} still do live tours, sell out everywhere they go and are still fantastic live despite their years
I always thought Freddie Murcury had the best voice and was the best frontman but preferred the Stones tunes
Sean there is plenty of modern day music that sounds great
Why are we arguing about what music is best? Music is in the ear of the beholder. Usually it brings people together and yes I know some people can get pedantic over it but hell there should be no snobbery in it! I can listen to a piece from Eric Satie, Howlin Woolf or Take That and get something from it. If you restrict yourself then you limit yourself. Go Glastonbury and Go Diana Ross. Stoned looooove………..🎼🎼🎼
we haven’t had festivals in 2 years and the question below says “should legends have up the mic?”
From that clearly no, brings people together and joy.
Piers has a problem with anything that he doesn’t like, let people enjoy the music
Jagger is still singing at 1970s Jagger levels.
He is a brilliant singer for what he does.
He couldn't sing Queen songs and Freddie Mercury couldn't do Stones songs anywhere near as good as Jagger.
You are what's called tone deaf coupled with a biased view of jagger...like the others he can no longer sing
Freddie Mercury is 100 times more talented than Mick Jagger
@@Fuckyoutube99 An apple is 100 times better than an orange.
@@Fuckyoutube99 Freddie had a very beautiful voice and could reach many notes and etc whereas Jagger Is much different his is more blues and they aren’t the same you can’t compare them both absolutely amazing
I’ve attended 3 Rolling Stones concerts, throughout the years,...and Mick Jagger NEVER sings a song the same EVER!...and off key A LOT!...and Keith NEVER plays the same notes twice!....that’s what makes The Rolling Stones so great “live”!!!!...its raw, and its live!...❤️👍🇺🇸🇲🇽 (Jon bon Jovi should take some lessons from Mick Jagger, on how to “hit” the wrong notes “just right”!),...(Mick Jagger has been singing “off key”for half a century!,..and still kickin rock and roll ass!)...ROCK TILL YOU DROP GUYS!
im 21 I went to Rolling Stones this past weekend and Mick Jagger can still sing just see him live, I was surprised aswell.
“I don’t have nuts” 🤣🤦🏻♂️
Stinking.., ? You're smelling yourself Morgan 🙄 Also, you know nothing what it takes to sing live. Dianna sounded great, no lip syncing, almost a hundred years old, same with Paul. These people are legends, something you'll never be.
Macca actually didn't sound too bad on 'Let It Be!' Diana Ross, on the other hand: her voice is finished! It's had it! Call it a bloody day, love!
Mccartneys voice is very thin now but he still puts on a great show
The whole discussion of whether these legendary singers can still sing is silly. Their voices have changed, but they can still communicate with their instruments which is the voice. They are still worth listening to because they can communicate and convey feeling with their voices.
Keep them singing. In April I traveled from South Africa to London for the Van Morrison (76) and Chris Farlowe (80) concert..Was great and I would travel again
Mick's not a bad singer. He's just in his 80s and not everybody can sing easy listening country like Willie Nelson at that age.
The Singers of Diana Ross generation are golden. With the Supremes she was amazing. Far far better than the guff they claim to be music today.
This was hilarious thanks! I really love that Piers brings us Lydon, Shaun Ryder and... who's next, Jarvis? Jarvis! So then when you have old people croaking through their set yeah, great seeing despite the flaws. McCartney and Jagger faired best because they know the tricks, the nuances unlike Diana who sounded horrible.. Did you not listen past the punters? Elton however has not sounded at all like Elton John in the past 25 years. OK, 30 years. We will now await the Lydon, Ryder, Cocker Roundtable, yes?
OH my god how can these talk about singing live, we loved Diana and Paul just like the MASSIVE crowd, Thank Heavens for Mr Shaun Ryder
It’s not so much about how they sound now, it’s about who they are and the Legend, you have to respect their age, it’s about the memory not the moment.
It’s difficult to explain. As for Mick singing, you have to be kidding me. Piers is just not in the groove!
At the very beginning, they were told the band is ok but the singer has to be sacked ! Thanks god they sticked to him.
I agree with Piers on Paul McCartney. He is absolutely fantastic on stage. I disagree with Piers on Mick Jagger. Mick CAN sing. He is one of the best frontmen on earth, and is perfect for the Rolling Stones. His voice is still holding up btw. Diana Ross is still a great show woman as well.
Paul McCartney was brilliant & natural !
In todays standards I don't think either of them would get on the Voice but face it they are legends of their time and all the young ones in the audience that were singing along with them was wonderful to watch..
Paul McCartney a " pop star"? Hmm, "Helter Skelter", " I'm down", She loves you" , on & on. I think he rocks pretty good myself.🤔
She's got to be in her eighties now or near That is brilliant for anyone to be seen over the age of 75... She's done so much for music over the years .... We need to protect our oldies not slag them off.... Let's hope one day you 2 get old Mr. Morgan and everyone comes out to see you and pay you tribute...
GLADYS KNIGHT IS THE BEST FEMALE SINGER ON THE PLANET!! AT 78 ( SAME AGE AS ROSS) HER VOICE LIVE IS SAME AS IN RECORDING STUDIO. SHE WOULD BLOW IT OUT OF THE WATER AT GLASTONBURY!!
Spot on!..Aretha got all the plaudits over the years but for me Gladys Knight has always been no.1!🤨
Macca was something else
Happy Mondays rock
Paul McCartney was brilliant in the 2nd half of his act, really seemed to grow into the performance.
I thought the Legends did pretty well and the crowd enjoyed it, Overall I thought the festival was well balanced with musicians/artists from all genres across the weekend.👍
Come on now Piers..Elvis is the ultimate Rock n Roller 🕺
paul mccartney killed it. hope he does 1 more european tour. Ross sounded a little bit off.
Apologies Shaun - but you are still one of the best song writers ever
There’s no way I would have recognised Sean Ryder😯
Ross was lip-syncing at the Platinum Jubilee; she started talking to her audience before the song was over, and her voice kept singing while she started talking.
I feel bad for Shaun Ryder for having to talk to Piers Morgan even if he is getting paid
Should Piers Morgan shut his pie hole? 10/10 voters say yes.
Asa musician and touring artist.... Macca's doing well for his age. Diana Ross, knowing her, she just didn't put tin the hour of prectice months before doing this, that is needed. its a muscle... and must be treated like it.
When I don’t play guitar fo a while i am definitely duty ! You are right Diana didn’t practice !
@@riobabic8960 Yup. I think she's got it in there, just needs to lay down the job. Prob same with J.Bon Jovi. ANd NVince Neil of M.C. Pretty much underlined the importance of this. ;) I do 1 hr 30 min full on Thrash Metal acts, and i'll die if i dont keep in shape haha
I totally agree with your comment about muscles. My fiancée's a gymnast and a cheerleader, who regularly performs some of the prettiest stunts you'll have ever witnessed in your life. Would my girl go out onstage and perform them pretty stunts without warming her body up sufficiently beforehand? No, she bloody well wouldn't, and singers oughta treat their voices with the same respect.
Love this incredible music is the best ever thing
I saw Dana Ross at the Manchester AO Arena, she was fantastic
Sean Riyder has become Dobbie the House Elf.
"Master wants me to Step Off. I must Step Off for Master. Dobbie loves Piers. He is Master."
That's the beauty of Rock n Roll. Volume/attitude. It ain't American idol or opera.
Got Piers thoughts not Shaun’s. Hardly let him get a word in
Morgan I now understand why people loathe you.
I love Shaun man. A proper lad, Piers doesn’t know what the hell he’s on about. Stick to phone tapping knob head. x
Imagine getting singing advice from Piers Morgan and Adam Boulton 🤦🏻♂️
Paul Mccartney had a high maintenance voice. He sings very high or did and did a lot of destructive things like screaming. It takes a toll but so does age. He's elderly now. Mick Jagger rarely did anything too aerobic with his voice. He doesn't really even form much of a melody most of the time. Instead he belts out chops. It works and he and his fellow Rolling bonemates keep on keeping on as a collective unit. They have a lot of people on stage and rumored for years to have people backstage playing. Paul now has another singer doing much of the singing because he simply can't do it anymore. He's one of my favorite vocalists, and I'm amazed at some of the things he used to do with his voice. Once I was singing his song Wanderlust and struggling on the very high notes and fell out of my chair onto the grass with a pain in my back. Apparently Paul's voice is sooooo good I developed a kidney stone trying in vain to emulate his range. The next morning having tossed and turned all night long i thought I was dying the pain was so bad. The pain gradually subsided while in the hospital and the ultrasound did not detect the stone. Speaking of stones, Mick is often monotone when he sings whilst Paul used to be so dynamic. People will jump on Mccartney vocal analysist videos and say Freddy was better. I get the impression these woke types only think he's better because he was gay. a lot of good that did his voice. Paul isn't the only vocalist who ever lived but he's in a special class all on his own.
Sean outclassed Piers
Saw the pet shop boys at Glastonbury on the box. They were brilliant. Neil Tennant is 67 and had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand! He's a great get away with it singer too! Lol
yes pet shop boys were excellent.
Piers can be such an ocherous churl, at times. No one expects the old timers to sound like they did 50 years ago. The fans are coming to pay homage. Something Piers will never have to worry about
Its not really paying homage if your headlining the biggest festival in the uk
I was there and the Paul Mcartney gig was hampered by the fact it was quite cold and an icy wind blew through the crowd, the 25 minute boring as hell video at the beginning did'nt help rouse the crowd. Respect to Paul for the long set and some old classics.
I’d take any one song by these ageing legends past their prime or not any day over the dross they call ‘music’ now.
What happened is what happens to all older men, if they haven't maintained their voice, they're going to lose it..... kind of look at what happened to McCartney... I know another post says that he can still sing but probably after the Chaos in Creation in the BY, his voice became warbly and difficult to listen to, one of the things that McCartney needs to understand is that at his peak, his album sold alone based on the vocal ability, at least that's my opinion, because he could use his voice to sell albums whereas the others yes, including Lennon, frankly couldn't, not that Lennon didn't have the capability, he didn't know how to use it, McCartney did...
I'm loving Piers, he's fascinatingly and obnoxiously entertaining at times. Love the channel, I need more Piers in my life lol.
Sad
@@gwynphillips1088 lmao
Diana Ross IS DIANA ROSS- first hit in 1960!!! She did good enough in front of 105,000 people outdoors and she pulled record ratings on Tv.
mccartney had a great set...love Ryder..as an American he sounds like I'm watching a movie on Jack the ripper
Shaun Ryder is God
Jagger is a much better singer than piers is interviewer
About vocals not being good at that age, listen to Sir Tom Jones. He still sings brilliantly!
So does bloody Paul!!!!
seen tom jones in cardiff just over a week ago and ole tom can still belt it out and the stereophonics was great as well
Mick is a genius.
Piers Morgan got owned by Mick Lynch. That'll never get old.
Mick Jagger is the best
frontman and singer of
all time
And this Morgan guy is a .....
Mick is awesome, just saw the Stones in 2021 and he sounds as good as he did in the 70s. Probably still has the best voice of the 60s era rockers still touring.
Second that. Just seen them twice on their current 'Sixty' tour and his tone is virtually the same as it was back in the 70s. Great pitch as well, especially considering how active he is while singing.
@@sambourne4923 Very true, I was very impressed with how intense he still sang songs like Midnight Rambler, Sympathy For The Devil, Start Me Up and Paint It Black as well as newer ones like Living In A Ghost Town. And to think he's just shy of 80.
@@Skycladatdusk78 Absolutely! And whatever you think of his voice (I happen to think it’s great), you have to respect the amount of effort and dedication he brings each time. A true professional.
Is this twaddle what Piers Morgan tries to pass off as entertainment these days?
Title correction : Mick jagger is a GREAT SINGER ! Millions of fans react live. And poor Morgan is jealous.
Well said Mr Ryder 👏
I've always loved Diana Ross but let's be honest she has the lung capacity of a gnat. Mick Jagger could NEVER sing (or dance).
It doesn't matter if his not a great singer ,but the greatests.performer ,brilliant performer , his voice still great ,mick is the lead singer of the greatest rock & roll band ever ,still selling out every stadium ,around the world, still the #1 tour of the year ,evertime they tour.
Totally agree with Piers
Piers you are 1.000.000% Right!! Diana Ross was a total mess. And that is EXACTLY what "Honest Vocal Coach" says in her youtube video about her. And I agree with that totally. Regarding Mick Jagger, you are again right in the center of the target. He does not have a voice at all. Never had it. Surely a fantastic gym-stage performer, but in terms of voice, ZERO!!! Lot's of movement, screaming, but nothing compared to real voices. And Paul Macca also never had a great voice. If any of these would go to the TV show "The Voice" or similar, they would have no chairs turned for them The big success of the Stones and the Beatles comes from different factors. At that time, this kind of "voices" were accepted as good as part of the gigantic movement of the british and american bands. But today, there is a totally different ball game.
Atleast she was singing live. A lot of the pop acts like Billie were lip synching
Leave Diana Ross alone she is 80 years old and Paul too!
Is this the Mick Lynch Channel?
The day somebody tells me I need auto tune is the day I stop performing. The music is important not the performers they are just the messengers. If you can't do it then stop (in the name of love) :) The guy was right McCartney's voice has gone - though I wouldn't wish that on him but it's true. And I'm the same age as him too.
Diana Ross is 78 years old lol ! Let's hear you sing haha behave Piers you know better 😎
does Shaun Ryder think Freddie Mercury is still alive?!
I thought that. Been dead for 30 years
knowing shaun he prob thinks that he is its a wonder he can remember anything during his drug and drinking days probs lost years lol proper mad lad ole shaun

I understand if Young people dont like old people saying they should retire and let the Young artists take over because there's some great music being made. you can not force 20 year olds to appreciate 80 year olds performing on stage with a Worn voice thats just the way life is and always has been .i have nothing against Young people whose musical education has been America or Britain's got talent or x factor thats just the way it is and if Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Mick Jagger, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Freddie Mercury, Prince, David Bowie, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Don
Henley, Aretha Franklin, Liam Gallagher, Morrissey, Olivia newton-john, Madonna, Michael stipe, Kurt cobain were participating in these shows as 20 year olds they would never make it cause they dont look like super-models and have the voice of an angel
