Loved those window scenes! I ride that monorail, and loved the clock of many nations. We moved away in 1976, so this brings back some sweet memories. :)
Beautiful memories from our childhood Christmases in The Roc. Midtown, Sibley's, the model trains -- always felt like an adventure in the city. Good times. Thanks for posting
I would've been 4 that year and rode it along with seeing Santa on Magic Mountain before going across the Skyway Bridge to my Dad's office at (then) Lincoln First for a kids holiday party :)
I was there with my parents when Midtown opened, and was allowed access after it was closed before demolition to look around one last time. So very many of my childhood, teen, and adult memories were in Midtown. It will never be forgotten. Thank you VERY much for this video.
I was born in 80 but this Christmas setup pretty much remained exactly the same until i was 10 or so. That monorail was tiny inside! The model trains were the best and probably the reason i got into the hobby. This was the Christmas tradition we did every year and it was really special. Thank you for sharing these memories.
I was looking for the monorail to show my daughter and to come across this video of 1977 as that was the year I was born. I would only be less than a month old at the time of Christmas, but it’s nice to see something that brings back memories of growing up in Rochester
Thanks so muck for this brings back great memories. I remember my Dad taking me there to see Santa in 73 74 in 77 he bought me a model car at the toy store in the corner on the 2nd level don't remember the stores name
I was lucky enough to ride this a few times in the early 90’s. Must’ve been one of the last few years of its existence. Does anyone else remember a “blowing north wind” type face on the front of the monorail car at one point or am I mixing it up with another memory?
Wonder exactly when in 1977 this was? On Saturday December 12th, as a 10 year old boy, I was hit by a car and spent a month in St. Mary's Hospital until January 11th.
This is solid gold. Irreplaceable memories for those of us who grew up in Rochester in the 1970s. Thanks for sharing this.
Boy I miss these days. Best time to grow up. Thank you brought back happy memories...
Thank you for posting this. It was a big part of childhood for people who grew up in Rochester during those years. Gone but not forgotten.
You’re welcome
Was this a member of your family that took the film?
I'm from Rochester and I was 9 years old in 1977. Thank you so much I have been looking for the sort of footage for years!

This brought tears to my eyes. I could have been one of those kids on this day waiting for the monorail. I remember it fondly!❤
Literally my favorite thing about Christmas time during my childhood.
Yes, Santa's mountain, then across the street to Sibleys to pick an ornament and view the scenes
Right!

Thanks for this memory. Got goose bumps!

Thank you for posting your Super8 film of Midtown Plaza at Christmas. Gosh, it brought back very old memories.

I was 5. I remember going here as a kid. Happy and sad at the same time watching this.

The monorail and Christmas at Midtown. Breakfast with Santa Claus too. Good memories ♥
Just to think those kids are in their forties and fifties now.. Great memories
More like '70s for some😀
Wow, we used to take the bus downtown stop at Woolworths for lunch then if I was good the, Monorail! :)
I remember the trains all set up at Lincoln 1st building.
I think the jewelry store at Lincoln 1st was called Mings

I don't remember that
