By the time they hauled that tank to the fire you would be un-alive. This is the most impractical machine for fighting fires I've ever seen. To big, to heavy, and to expensive. There's a reason this is a one off unit.

This is a man that you could call a True Patriot of Greece. He loves his country and will do what to takes to save Greece. A man that is thinking outside of the box to do what is good for his country. The Government of Greece is stepping up to move the tank from location to another is no small feat. Especially doing at no cost him. When you look at the devastation of wildfires across world it is very costly to everyone. Those in US, California is a reminder every year.
As soon as he started speaking I knew it was a Greek guy. It is funny how all native Greek speakers share such a similar English accent. Very happy to see Greek engineers trying to solve the problems we face in our country. The tank looks like a Leopard 1, it is a lightly armored tank focused on mobility, the armor isn't need on this role so this make a perfect carrier for a firetank. The components for these tanks are still manufactured in Greece since there are some Leopard 1 tanks left in service. More retired tanks can be transformed if the government wants to invest in this.

With 220 gallons of water per second it would run dry with a tank on its chassie .. so not sure where you got that 4000l more from. So these are not really the same as those firefighting tanks which carry their own supply in order to operate independently in the wild. BTW the Spot-55s also can be remote controlled over 1500m, cools itself via a sprinkler system over its hull and maintained the NBC protection .. can literally be driven into the fire if needed for rescue.

The 4000l thing is the Jumbo carries 15t of water while the Spot-55 carries 11t. Thats mainly due to the Spot being based on the smaller T55 hull compared to the Leopard 1 hull of the Jumbo. The Spot-55 ability to be remotely operated is also nice.
Years ago I almost started a business that was going to make kits to turn old tanks into farming and fire fighting vehicles. I got sabotaged. Cant go into how but I can tell you all that I am now Theodore's biggest fan. He has done what I couldn't and I'm just impressed.

Jumbo is likely faster in the field and could run it over... a Crocodile Churchill could pose a real threat though because Jumbo may not be sufficiently sealed to survive it. Still, Jumbo could just dig a big trench around it and avoid entering engagement range 😅

I love this. Did you know that Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters, build a similar wildfire tank called "The Sentry". The big difference is Jamie's tank is remote controlled and can stand heat up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, and the water tank is smaller.

There was a video out some years ago about a Russian tank builder that converted some of his chassis to be fire fighters. Never heard what happened to them but the idea is very sound. 15,000 liters is a serious amount of water to haul round.
