I'd worked with a "Punk Rock" band as "Tour Manager" in Europe. They were ... well ... mates shall we say? They'd had a #1 Single in the Alternative Charts (as "Auntie" then called it). One night, I went to the Roundhouse and saw "Snuff Rock". These lads ... yep ... they summed it all up. Wot a load of bollix I had gone along with. I have never been more grateful to this very day, for the genuinely original and creative work that these lads did that night at the Roundhouse. Can't thank them enough. Sincerely. RIP
Saw this fantastic group at Newcastle University 1978 aged 15 had to convince University security I was a student 😀. Support that night was John Dowie a comedian . Still have the Snuff Rock EP . Classic gig
Remember seeing this at The Roundhouse, I think I went to most of the shows with my mates. We also travelled to Amsterdam to see them play at The Melkweg. Happy Days!
It took me about 25 years to find the A<Ps ep...#SNUFFROCK #GOBBINonLIFE! #Kill! And i cannot believe this filmage exists. I tied a noose yesterday..it's hanging on the door. Now i don't need it any more....but perhaps a bit longer on this fantastic society. TH@NK YOU for sharing this amazing slice of laughing death for us.... Revolution starts at home.... .... on the turntable.... As it revolves.... It's a fkn Revolver ... I 🖤Alberto y los trios paranoias 4eva!!!!
Fantastic memory - I saw them at Loughborough Uni in the 70's with a band called the Police supporting them - the Police were fantastic and did their set twice to a very appreciative audience (done twice because the PA system failed 3/4 of the way through their set). I really liked the Albertos but I have to say they were completely musically outclassed at that gig
Brilliant !! Saw them a few times back in the day. I used to have this performance on cassette. I must have taped it off the radio. So good to match up the visuals with the audio. All the quips between songs are embedded in my brain from playing the audio tape so many times.
Excellent! - Saw the 'Berts at Leicester poly in the 70's. I bought a stick of Snuff Rock that I put in the freezer when I got home, - and my Mum threw it away...
Hi, I was at the Leicester Poly gig as well (I was on ENTS, with Roger Ringwood). If I remember correctly, the full bill was The Albertos and Supercharge.
Wonderful stuff! i saw this show a couple of times - in Nottingham and Manchester. Italians from Outer Space - one of the great albums of the 70's. Doo Wop version of Anarchy In the UK is nuts
Wonderful memory of Them, Free Trade Hall 1978, My 18th birthday, Devo (first gig in Europe) were the support ( Who the Albertos constantly took the piss out of throughout the set) and I was sat in front of Howard Devoto, Who I got to meet.
Don’t remember where or how I heard these guys first time here in Norway many years ago, but I have two vinyl albums and two vinyl singles in my shelf.

They remind me of a cross between The Juicy Fruits from the film 'Phantom of the Paradise' crossed with the late 70's stand up of The Comic Strip Presents.
Saw the Albertos at Durham University around this time. Complete insanity. Can you imagine the BBC broadcasting this in 2024? I mean, it might offend somebody...
Remember watchung this dow the pub in TV Saw the Berts many times at The Marquee, The Albemarle in Harold Wood / Harold Hill, The Music Machine in Camden and The Basildon Art Centre. Saw Sleak at both The Royal Court and The Roundhouse I met drummer Bruce Mitchell when I was working with Peter Green in 1997 and he was in the support band in Manchester. We had a nice chat about tHe Berts, CP Lee, Jimmy Hibbert and of course Les Prior. It turned out that Bruce ran the company that had hired out the stage for a couple of Blues Festivals we had played that summer.
Saw them every night they played at 'Devas street theater'. Manchester, 1975 (I think). Also saw them at Clarence's Halifax. Tony wilson came to review them for his spot on 'Granada reports news', But when the lead singer recognised him and said "Oh look tony's here from that cruddy music show". Mr Wilson abruptly left. He never reviewed them. Tut,Tut. Fantastic band live!
That was the Music School (?) Squat wasn't it? Saw them there with Spider Mike King 1973. Fantastic - all I could remember was the Marijuanettes jingle but this brought it all back - what a fine band!
William Yale yeah. Heard this band mentioned in hushed tones, but I guess you had to be there. Just doing the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band thing but lampooning punk and hard rock.
That is bloody awful, it's like a poor man's Bonzo Dog Doodah Band... I love the Snuff Rock EP and the Heads Down No Nonsense Mindless Boogie single but this is terrible. 😂
I've loved this band since the day....
I love introducing people to these guys....
It blows their minds 😂
