I really enjoyed this. I have a 2 year old Miniature Schnauzer and when I had him in puppy class and the “teenage” class I was having trouble with his excited barking with other dogs. He is VERY social, but I wanted to discourage the barking. It certainly wasn’t aggressive - almost as if he was “talking”. The instructor would just say “ well, he’s a Schnauzer!” I didn’t find that helpful at all. It felt like she was saying that I couldn’t change that behaviour. I have worked with him and now 90% of the time he can get excited when he sees people and other dogs but not bark. He’s the best dog I have ever had! Margaret in B.C.
This is how I feel about dachshunds, I fell in love with My grandmother’s long haired dachshund as a kid so naturally I thought of them for my first dog. I am so confused by all of the horrible descriptions of them all over the Internet, especially from people claiming to be breeders.

What techniques did you use? We have a very social mini schnauzer as well!
