Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Review - The Final Verdict

- Bugs aside, however, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a fine game that, while not reaching the heights of excellence that this property has in other media, nor other sister Marvel IPs have as games, manages to deliver a consistently entertaining and engaging adventure nonetheless. It doesn't do anything particularly new, nor does it do anything amazingly well- it just delivers a really well done, straightforward, linear narrative-driven action-adventure game.
At a time when everything tacks on RPG mechanics and moves towards the open world formula, sometimes just being a simple linear action-adventure game that lives up to the spirit of the source material is more than enough.
The combat is growing on me, but the character interactions feel so immersive. I love just hanging out with the Guardians
The combat is better if you turn down the 'difficulty' so to speak.. I know, it seems counter-intuitive, but in this game, increased difficulty does not = smarter enemies. It just turns them into bullet sponges... Even standard difficulty makes StarLord's 'Quad Blasters' feel like flarking peashooters.
Dialing Quill's blaster damage from normal to "High/Very High" really helps the gunplay feel far less repetitive.

I'm so happy to hear this game is as good as i hoped it would be. I knew it wasn't one to sleep on since it basically fixed all the Avengers problems in one swoop with the negation of multiplayer and microtransactions
I wish Marvel's Avengers was also a single player focused game. Maybe it would not be so bad if it were so.
The campaign was single player focused, as are the expansions

I was so invested in the opening scene of the avengers playing as Kamala.. then when it transitioned into multiplayer. That’s when it went down for me. Then the empty promises of other characters not being presented made it more worse. Should of had all the avengers into a single player game. Like what insomniac did with spiderman. When they switched to each character per mission chronologically.
@@TheProfettier it tricked u into a single player it was always online games as service but every mission felt lile a MMO or a multiplayer objective based mission structure it was trash

I give this a 9/10. Too good, they are so funny & the story gets better as you go, don’t have to wait long before something crazy happens. Love it so far
When I got "I need a hero" in one of the huddles while trying to rescue Nikki was one of the best experiences of my life 😂😂😂 so amazing
I love how callbacks are made perfectly in this game whether it be through the story or through your gameplay experience 🙏 the constantly open fridge is a funny little detail when you finally learn everyone else has also been walking by and closing it.
Game ran perfect no bugs when did you play my guess is pre-patch.
This game combines a focus on plot and dialogue that makes it feel like a real guardians movie with kick ass gameplay that makes you feel like you are Star Lord
First, I was skeptical due to the differences to the the live action adaptation, however, in time they have grown up on me and I like them even more than their live action counterparts.

Dam, this game is thoroughly enjoyable, every second of it is just gold, I'm still early in it, but the kid 'nicky' my goodness I cracked up because she looks dead set like a mini Jill Valentine 😅, absolutely love the banter between everyone absolutely priceless, game is so good, and that soundtrack is the best
Man the cut scenes look a lot better than I thought they would.

Yeah I like companies other than insomniac making more marvel games as people do criticize against these companies but imo insomniac games are good but other companies should also get a chance in making them cause every studios have different styles and ideas and we are seeing the same thing with star wars.

@@masterofmastersmaster2991 It technically means minor annoyance, but it does have racial connotations. Especially when referring to black children. You can look it up on google if you specifically look for that word and race together. I just had the misfortune of hearing it in person with the intended meaning.

can someone help me...so I'm new to pc gaming and my question is how do you open up guardians mode? i see a picture of an arrow but I can't find out how it works..I tried the arrow keys then the arrow in the number pad and finally thought that the arrow had a mouse pad in the background but it doesn't make any sense i obviously cant move the mouse upwards because it says to hold with the arrow pointing up and thats impossible ...i can't progress until i tell the tree to make a bridge...and i can't seem to post on steam only look at posts

Just being a curious crispy but is there many having an issue just after chapter 6 with the crane puzzle? Can't seem to pass it, I looked it up and it seems a few a having an issue with it, anyone else? PS4 version, a few have put in a word to square Enix but it seems there ignoring it, IGN maybe you could put in a word for us? It's a shame they couldn't program this kind of gameplay into last year's Avengers game.
The combat is hard at first but I just got electric on my guns it’s getting better

Edit: the problem was i didn't have xbox controller set up on steam once I did that problem fixed, leaving my mistake here incase some other pc noobs need to learn from this blunder

Well as far as I've seen the gameplay, the world, choices seems awesome.
I can never figure out the issues with most of GB reviews. Is it the writing that's weak or the script delivery that suffers? Everything always sounds... off, somehow. It's just... not good.
They’re usually poorly written but it’s also because the reviews are always written by someone other than the person doing the voiceover - so intended tone, inflection, and emphasis are completely lost because the person doing the voiceover doesn’t know the intent.
@@ryhanon7 I considered that as well, because you can almost hear how it should be read differently. Not that the writing isn't still poor.

I dunno if this happens all the time but, on the way off lady hellbenders planet I turned on don't fear the reaper and drax looked at me and just said "fitting for our current situation". I thought that was great 😂 my friend said he didn't get this at all. Things like this on top of great combat, awesome story, cool characters and a quality soundtrack. I'm hooked.

Just started playing yesterday … and it’s truly a great game
Play it in hard difficulty to find any type of challenge no game is challenging at all in normal difficulty

There's no such thing as new game mechanics , new is exhausted a long time ago( ex. Far Cry),all we could really do is just enjoy the game.
Disney infinity lets you play as all the guardians in endless amounts of open worlds with a lot better combat. It has alot of skill trees for each character, I don't understand why a game as big as Disney infinity can't be redone now......
Disney infinity pc does not require any figures it's all built in. I bought all 3 games deluxe edition and all the characters included for £20

Growing tired of RPG skill tree formulations in action video games and or open world environments that have you scour every single bloody inch of the map to find meaningless crap that adds nothing to the overall experience. Point me in the right direction and let me stylishly shoot a bunch of bad guys. That’s my type of video game.

Sometimes some of us gamers just want a story driven, linear game like Uncharted, FF7 Remake, TLOU etc and this looks a decent game. Clearly this game isn’t for you but no game fits everyone’s personal gaming tastes.

Don't agree, bold choice that focuses the game. Splitting the gameplay takes away from the focus and the story would be hard to tell as you would have to flesh them all out individually as playable characters. Otherwise people would complain like they are about it only being star lord.

The characters probably look the way they do because they're not based on the movies. Rocket and Star-Lord definitely have Some inspirations from the movies with some unique design choices thrown in; Drax and Gamora look like they were pulled straight from the comics and Groot... Well... He is Groot...
