    Looked simple but good high score hunting fun to be fair. The first lad looked naked but could carry some amount of items nonetheless haha, both had their charms, well played an great video Lee.🕹🙌🍀

    Somehow, this game passed me by, even though I, and many of my schoolmates, had ZX Spectrums at the time. Looks interesting, game play wise.
    Initially, I thought the ZX Spectrum's lack of in-game music would be a drawback. After hearing a few bars of the BBC's music, however, I realized it might have been a blessing in disguise for the Speccy version! 😁
    Another great comparison Lee.

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  13 днів тому +1

      @@pauljackson6168 of that's surprising you missed this one, was certainly a popular one, I think all my mates were fans of this game. Still brilliant fun I'm happy to say🙂
      Yep the lack of music while playing it's fine by me, even times I like I must confess I usually prefer sound effects only in game. Manic Miner won't be so kind to my ears that's for sure 🤣
      Both great but it just all vibes together best on Speccy for me this one.
      Glad you enjoyed it, cheers as always for watching👍

    0:51 Nice to see you playing this absolute classic, Love that intro music, Great suggestion by Goldie, 4:22 I like that this BBC version Has the music playing in game, Sound effects also great, Both great Games, Always glad to see the speccy Win 😂, I read enjoy your comparison videos and I'm looking forward to seeing Manic Miner, You actually inspired me to do some Micro comparisons myself, I already recorded gameplay For 1 video In November But just haven't had the time to get round to editing And doing commentary for it yet, I do plan to Several Comparisons throughout 2025 Once I get back into the swing of things again 😂

    Luckily I'm sat down whiile I say this, but think I prefer the Spectrum version! Not sure having music in the BBC version was that good, very annoyingh like you said. Great video mate

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  13 днів тому

      Yeah I tend to agree, I try to take release year into account to be fair and most games of that period with in game music are enough to drive me insane, haha. I do prefer game sounds only tbh, the Beeb had the option for sounds on/off but presumably would then be mute.
      I think the Speccy port would take some beating, how was the c64 version?

    • @RetroSK3L3
      @RetroSK3L3 12 днів тому

      @ these are 30 year + memories so bare with me 😅 I remember having to go through colourful mazes (not sure if you’re a ship or a person) and you were collecting what I think were puzzle pieces that would be collected at the bottom of what I guess is the home/hub screen. Not sure if that sounds familiar? It had a sci-fi aesthetic I think…..

    A classic mate, played the speccy version loads.
    Personally I would be happy with either, both great.
    Regarding the beeb, you can turn it down, if you open the case there's a potentiometer that you can adjust with a screw driver.

      @@davidretrogamesplayedbadly3533 yet you can't go wrong with either version here, such a great game 🙂

    How did I miss that game back in the day........easy, because I moved from TI to Atari and as such have never actually seen it before. The game itself looks great on the Spectrum and the BBC, the movement on the Spectrum lifts is really smooth with no flicker, I was also impressed by the solidity of the BBC version as one of my pet hates with BBC games is flickery software sprites.
    Looking forward to Manic Miner, I've played it on the Spectrum, BBC, Dragon 32, C64, Amiga, Amstrad and Oric. I won't ruin your comparison before you film it but will simply say that there probably won't be a one point difference between them.

    • @Tetlee

      Ah it's a shame you missed this one back in the day, one of the simple greats. Very addictive.
      Yes both systems perform really well, and as you say nice the lack of flicker on the Beeb, you'd mind if expect that from the lifts.
      Both are great but Speccy is the King here.

      Yep all valid points there Sean, wouldn't argue with anyone choosing the Beeb version as both are brilliant. The Beeb version is also slightly different, more tiers to climb, more lifts on screen which are slightly less unpredictable. I'll be playing that one more for sure.
