I always make sure to make things easy for the doctors whenever I’m in the E.R. To think that they walk into your room chipper and so welcoming when right before they lost a patient is so mind blowing to me. You definitely have to be a certain type of person to do what they do. Mad respect to all first responders 🖤
@@Leojw10 I love any accent from the UK. My dad was born in Glasgow in 1930 and he had a heavy Scottish accent and I absolutely loved it. When he passed away in 2012, I knew that that was going to be one of the things that I would miss the most about my dad, his voice and his accent. As it turned out, I miss so much more about my dad.
That old guy Bert is the kind of guy that my dad always just hated to be around. My dad was a WWII veteran and lived to be 98. He would never grab a nurse and kiss her on the neck like Bert did. My dad always said that men never change. If an old man, veteran or not,98 or not, was grabbing onto girls for hugs that he didn’t even know, then he was probably doing it when he was younger and when he was younger it would have been very offensive. I guess my dad just believed in more respect than old Bert.
I was standing in a queue at the shops once, and felt something strange in my hair. I turned around to find a little old man just running his fingers through my hair. He looked at me and said "Oh, I'm so sorry, I just couldn't help myself..." Freaked me the heck out....! If a young guy had done it, I would probably have smacked him for it, but since he was obviously pretty frail... I just kinda laughed it off and left as fast as I could. Your dad was probably right; but I do think that older folks lose some of the internal barriers that mentally stop them from doing stuff. Either because they aren't as with it as they were, or because they know they'll get away with it.
I’m with you Jane. The bane of my existence in L&D is always trying to find pillows. I swear our patients and families steal them for what reason I don’t know because they’re flat and plastic.
@Mrs.TJTaylo Clearly have no knowledge of the uk healthcare industry. People who do this job do it because they are compassionate people. This has nothing to do with being on camera
@@chilloutii3638 Perhaps. But maybe you have no knowledge of Hollywood and the effect of being filmed. Our US hospital staff looks exactly as wonderful and compassionate when filmed, and they’re certainly NOT IRL.
I love the way the staff treat the patients with compassion and respect. You know Bert with his overly friendly way about him was probably always like that throat his life. My mom said there was a name for men like that in her day and that was a lecher. I know that Bert probably just feels or has always felt he was just friendly with people, but the thing with that is that to be pulled into a man like that isn’t right unless it’s your husband or your boyfriend, but I mean that would freak me out a little bit too much. I’d be very uncomfortable being pulled into somebody’s body like that. It’s kind of the behaviour you’d see on New Year’s Eve from somebody that drank too much.
Yeah, his legs did not look good. They looked like they were dying from lack of blood circulation. People with non-controlled diabetes tend to lose limbs because of that.
"Hopefully be fine to go to School in the morning" No he will not! Have you ever worked in a school or Nursery and seen children coming in with horrible barking coughs? They don't concentrate and they infect the other children, some of which might have Asthma so croup is really horrible for them. The Nursery local to me doesn't allow children to come in with Croup, it's against their sickness policy. Not fair on the other children and staff and of course the sick child who should be at home resting when they have such a horrible cough. Local teachers will be cursing that doctor.
Just because you're 94 years old, a veteran, does NOT give a man the right to grab a woman like that and force a kiss on her or discuss her looks. That was appalling. He'll be the type to demand the prettiest nurse hold his urinal when he pees.
There needs to be a way to get more beds in hospitals across the uk because hospitals are getting full of patients every day and running out of beds but hospitals would need to be expanded in size for more beds or a different solution.

I guess there's one upside to not having free health care. It seems like people smoke like chimneys in the UK. In the US, being a smoker makes for higher medical insurance premiums. That convinces a lot of people to stop. So much of the costs of the NHS are for alcohol and tobacco use. Taxes need to go way up on those items to offset health costs.
what would convince the enormous population of enormous people in the US to stop eating. Should taxes go way up on food then? Never seen so many obese people in my life......and people with no food control.
And most of the obese are the poor and are ethnically non-white per the CDC…interesting how the poor in other countries are mostly the opposite. The US welfare system is way too generous.
the obese are usually the poor and working poor. The US welfare system is way too generous. You want to tax people in the UK more than 20% of their income? lol. Tax hikes are coming, by the way, because the NHS is rubbish.
I don’t think most people are watching this show to listen to all the filler about bed shortages, ambulances waiting, getting tea and all the wasted time on chit chat. They are watching to hear interesting medical stories and the conclusions.
She probably wouldn't care. She essentially works a full-time job for no pay, filling in and providing valuable help. She tidies and organizes, makes tea for staff and for patients, provides positive morale boosters. I think she's an inspiration. There are generally support staff that aren't doctors or nurses. She does it for free.

Yes a rerun BUT, I love the narrator and the opening "in the heart of Yorkeshire". I always watch!

The narrator is Dean Andrews, revered actor and great guy. He was in "Life on Mars" (UK original, 2006)

I agree. That made the nurse feel uncomfortable 😕. Not appropriate at any age.

It was a bit inappropriate, but I don’t think he’s a full on creep.
I would never send a child back to school with croup and a temperature. He might be a parent but he should leave that decision to the parent!

It’s because of all the illegals coming and getting free healthcare
Like the channel, tyvm. Jane is lovely
So many should have been at their GPs. Why is this?
If it’s anything like Australia, then the emergency visit is free of charge, but it costs money to see a GP
Because you have to do everything online and my Sister and Husband don’t have access to that so they are not able to get to the Doctor 😊
@ hellkat71
It’s does not cost money to see your gp in the uk, the wait however is another matter

You could have to wait weeks to see a gp here in the uk

Look at their faces. I've never seen more vacant, bland, uninterested faces. The pair of them look like they don't care about their dad.
