Oh now you post this... Had to learn the hard way aligning everything! Great jig.. Expensive but very good. Successful build of MG42/59. and testing a MG-42. Side notes: For the shimming of the nose of the MG-42/59, I used some left over parts from my AR-15. I found the shims for the AR-15 barrel fits perfectly on it so if you have spare shims from a brake install.. you can use this. The order of welding I found (for me) doing the receiver, nose, then the trunnion area was the best order. You really need to pay attention to alignment and heat shrinkage. I really wish there was a backer for this but I just used a tool from Dr Emil (Dremel for short) to clean the interior. EZ Cutting disks worked pretty good for areas I couldn't get my finger sander to reach.
Due to the unexplained shortage of 8mm brass the Fuhrerhaupt recommends conversion of common 30:06 to 8mm. The US copied the 7mm Mauser to make the 03-06 or lengthened the case, changed the shoulder, and down sized to 7.62 from 7.92. The case cutting and " jugs" are online.
Does the jig come with the skills to weld the kit back correctly as well haha. Seriously though awesome Jig, hope this brings back many more MGs to life.
@@johnmcdonald587 I'm sure a lot did. But now they can produce them and with CNC it's load stock and go. It IS a very nice jig, don't get me wrong. Just pricey. Could see $800-$900
Well originally we designed and built the Jig for our own business purposes. For us It couldn't be a jig that only survived building a few guns like some out there that wear out after 10 or so uses. They last 100-120 guns before they start getting sloppy and the threads start getting galled. I know that doesn't really help those who just want to build one gun for themselves but we weren't going to make a high quality heat treated precision jig for ourselves then sell a sub standard one to everyone else that just doesn't really make sense. But building these guns isn't really cheap or common in any way. Its not like we are going to sell hundreds of these jigs. The economies of scale just isn't there at this low volume (under 100 jigs made in total) so the price is what it is. If we made and sold 500 plus a year there would be an argument that they could be cheaper per jig but at these low numbers they are very expensive to produce. So outside of this jig there is always Unistrut like people used in the past but trust me, that is a massive headache and this thing is worth its weight in gold for the frustration it saves.
Well im getting a mg42 soon but i think if i ever get a second im gonna get this jig and try rewelding one cause buying premade ones are big ouches on funds
Could you use the front part of the jig to assemble the front of the receiver and then add the back portion ? A little less to fixture, align and handle at one time.
Like I state in the video, that front end is a floppy deal until you build off the rear and clamp everything square & true to the jig. It is possible but it is also easy to be out of proper alignment.
is it still some what easy if a mg42 kit doesn't have a complete nose? like the old kits used to come in where the front were torched cut and mangled, or is that harder/undoable? just asking cause I was thinking about doing a couple, that were not the Italian mg kits.
You can find some on gb but you can get an 80% receiver and shroud from brp and some components from apex, rtg, and numrich. Hope this helps or guides you in any way
Some forums have sellers that sell it.. likely some of those people sell on GB. (gun) (broker). Bowman Arms might be another place to find it as well. Note please understand what your building especially if your not a FFL07/02, You need build a semi auto which requires some major modification for the bolt carrier group and adding blocking bar in the receiver so no full auto parts fit..
❤❤1200 bucks for a jig ,,,two weeks pay for me ,,i would prefer to spend a full week making a jig before paying 1200 dollars ,,i know ya all took the time to messure it all up and design it but no way in hell is it that hard to design or produce that jig ,even if they were 600 dollars id say to expensive and it not like every guy going to attempt building one ,,the parts kits are expensive enough let alone for a welding class and then 1200 ontop that ,,i priced the steel and i can build the same jig out mild steel for under 70 dollars .so that's just extortion !

$1200 seems a bit steep for the jig. I know it jad to be machined and all but stil......
Yeah I thought the same thing but at least it works very well. Had to bite the bullet on this.. At least I can sell the jig when done.
If you knew the amount of R&D went into it's development it's a bargain. You can always design your own.

Simple solution. Design and build your own and save a ton of money.
Oh, you can’t do it for less than 1200? Hmm

98% of the guns we build have a new nose installed by us. So yes, this jig does help with doing nose bushings.
@@LewmanArmsMan thanks
You guys should make this a rentable tool like an auto parts store. 1200$ deposit

@@trollguy3339 I appreciate it very much buddy. I am going to keep my eyes out on GB.
Great video!!! Shame that it looks like youtube compressed it into oblivion though haha
Have to look into that a bit later… was mobile uploaded not on Wi-Fi so no tellin..
OMG, wie kann man einer der besten Erfindungen der militätechnik zersägen…?😱😭
Here in America, there's some stupid import laws that weapons have to have their receivers chopped up sadly.

Can’t imagine what that kit cost
Christ, 1.2k for the jig, cant I just rent it?

Famous last words, please, do make your own for $70…🤣🤣🤣
These are $10,000 guns when finished but let’s be cheap on the jig..
10,000 dollar guns with zero commercially available kits.
Sounds legit for sot use.
If you have 10 kits.
