Hey friend! Today, I'm showing you one of my Dollar Tree dinner ideas. Feeding a family of 7 for $7 is possible at Dollar Tree 2023. This small Dollar Tree haul was perfect for feeding my large family and was a great cheap meal on a budget. Hopefully this video will help you answer the dreaded question of "whats for dinner?"

PROTEIN IS A VIDAL PART OF YOUR DIET.
PROTEIN and carbs have same calories per gram (7)
Fat is (9) calories per gram
Also MANTORY for good health
( just not in the quantity most people eat it.
Carbs give engery period.
PROTEIN is REQUIRED FOR BODY BUILDING . ( not just for children)
Fat helps make it possible to not eat consistently and regulation of blood sugar.
Without PROTEIN you will be exhausted and fuzzy minded.
Even vegetarian eat PROTEIN.
( cults are known for keeping proteins out of diet to make everyone zombie so they can't think for themselves)

I made a meal using smoked sausage, seasoning blend, penne noodles, pasta sauce and Alfredo sauce. It made 6 servings all from DT

We have 3 DT within driving distance. One is better than the other 2 overall. We have a nice selection of food and craft items.

Do you have a Dollar General? I know people either love or hate it- we have one finally and I am finding their stuff cheaper that the $1.25 store. Also - if you shop on Saturdays and use the App- you can get the $5 off your $25 dollar purchase! I load as many coupons as I think I might use and then see if I am able to get good deals- they have a whole $1 isle in there :)
I used to shop there when we lived in Texas and when I was an extreme couponer. The closest one to my house now is over an hour away 😩. I definitely miss it!
I have two DT's and both are always trashed. I don't blame the store I blame the people that shop in both my stores.

The blame should fall squarely on the company. their desire to maximize profits outweighs logic. stores arent able to operate properly because they aren't allowed enough hours. my sister is an assistant manger at one and there's been times she's been alone in the store. You can't possibly do it all including run a register, help customers in other ways, stock, deal with money stuff, take breaks, and do recovery, even with a second person. It's nuts. They don't realize they would make more money if stores were neater and better stocked and had more help available.

It is true that stores are under staffed. I work retail so I know all about staffing issues, but the people that shop the stores can take a little pride in helping keep the store clean. If you pick something up then decide you don't want it put back were you got it, don't just through it down on the shelf and create more work for that one person working. That is what I meant in my comment.
@@sheilas.6170 definitely an issue with people just destroying stuff, letting their kids destroy stuff, but recovery done regularly would fix most of that, little bits straightened up at a time. I know this one store is just not given enough hours to get it all done.

Yeah I saw those cookies the other day when I was stocking up on some essentials that’s cheaper there. I was wondering how those cookies would be.
Yep I agree some items are better to get at DT than Wally World or even Aldi. I’m still looking for the Pace Nacho cheese sauce. I want to get several cans to have on hand when I need a cheese sauce.
I think they could be good if they were baked differently.
I haven’t seen the nacho cheese sauce in my store either!

I dont understand the big deal with protein. I try and get as many calories in my family as I can. We are a family that needs lots of calories, vitamins and minerals. Every family is different and people should not be complaining about your choices for your family..

I thought so too. I got kidney problems and I have to watch my protein intake. But not like "get in as much as I can" quite the opposite. I think, some people just like to ramble and comment nasty things on the internet. There will be always somebody who thinks it's not enough protein, not enough veggies etc. Like you said, every family is different.

Protein make you feel full longer and protein doesn't have to come from meat
You can also make your own garlic bread. Just get sliced of bread. spread butter and put garlic powder on the bread then put it in the oven and you got garlic bread. It taste good.
I love making garlic bread in my air fryer with whatever bread I have in my pantry or freezer 😊. It was just easier and less expensive to buy the frozen kind from the Dollar Tree since I tried to only use what I could find there and they didn’t have butter at my Dollar Tree.
My mom always did homemade garlic bread. I always buy it. I just don’t think it will turn as well as hers.
may I suggest you use a little of the pasta water in the cans to clean them out completely. I would like some cheese on the spaghetti & toast

I couldn't see what the size of the Prego Alfredo sauce or the Winter vegetables and what did the price label at the store said it was per oz. for each?
I believe the Alfredo sauce was 14.5 oz and the veggies were 12 oz.
Texas toast????? Just get a bread stick and put some garlic butter on it.

Do you get more slices of garlic toast at Walmart? I hate Walmart, but they do have larger volumes in their packages, supposedly, for less. The meat may not always be straight on though. They are a crooked retail store in many ways (unproven), but, I have about four grocery stores to choose from in my area, unfortunately. Walmart is one of them. So sad!!! Luckily, Aldi is coming to my area very very soon.
I’m not sure if you get more at Walmart or not. I don’t shop there that often because there isn’t one close to me. I’m definitely jealous that you have an Aldi coming close to you soon! I wish we had one here.

I believe the Alfredo sauce was 14.5 oz and the veggies were 12 oz. just 1 1/2 oz different on the Alfredo sauce for 49 cents more (I do like jar sauce better and I could add the left over sauce to my Clam sauce for spaghetti. the 12 oz of cut Broccoli was a lot cheaper but you were able to get Broccoli florets & cauliflower which was great. and the dollar tree Texas Toast was cheaper. Just goes to prove you have to know your prices and they are changing daily & weekly right now
I wanted to ask if you have The 99 cent store were you are if so I would love to see what you could buy for $10.00 using fresh vegetables & fruit and rather they are cheaper there. Right now our stores have sales on Fresh Broccoli and Cauliflower but with spring comes Asparagus here and sales on it

We don’t have one near us. We do have some other grocery outlet type stores that I could try a budget challenge with in the future though 😊
@@FrugalLifeThriftyWife we are lucky we have 2 Dollar Tree stores and a The 99cent store who seems right now cheaper than the Dollar Tree even if they increased their prices too and we also have good Grocery Outlet here in town and a great one in my home town 30 miles away. We also have a Buy 4 Less store

@@FrugalLifeThriftyWife our bakery outlet closed so we have to drive to Stockton or south Sacramento now so not worth the gas money even if we have an electric car now

Sometimes my Dollar Tree isn’t good either. It really depends on the day.
The sodium in this is very high.
It probably is, but you could leave out adding extra salt or choose other options that aren’t as salty. Hope you have a good day!
Some of the dollar trees here in Georgia are messy and unorganized.
There are some in my area that are that way as well which is definitely frustrating.
So, No One Gets Seconds if They Want a Little More?? What is Your "Serving Size"?? Maybe an 1/8 of a Cup per person?? This meal is So Unrealistic!!
It totally depends on how much your family eats. If you need more per serving you can always double the ingredients or add another side 😊
