@@RoysRocks i think as a ring it would come out nicer in solid silver, as a pendant a wirewrap would look awesome around that, like a vikingweave or something.
I was thinking of a wire cross in the middle since it is a little potchy there but I'll see if there are any existing designs I like before trying my own.
Is it more comfortable to shape a symmetrical shape on a little stone like this with larger or with smaller points? Do you vary sometimes like using on the same stone smaller and larger points depending on of what you aim to achieve? And if yes what are the benefits of those two sizes on the smaller stones?
I dont find much of a difference. Technically the surface velocity is a tad off but you can compensate with speed of the tool. The biggest reason for 2 sizes is the reach. Tricky uneven pieces need the smalls but everything else I use the larges (they last longer).
Man old video but I am still using the same set of burrs. I get them manufactured in China and have been selling them privately to viewers. There will be a website launching hopefully in the next week which will have a tiny shop section with them included.

Beautiful work! I'm just getting into hobby cutting, and cutting with Dremel is my preferred method. Thank you so much for specifying the exact bits (including grits!) you were using. I'm just about to order all of these, as I'm not sure what grit the bits I currently have are, and I'm wondering how long these Nova bits last. Do you need to replace them frequently, or do they last long enough? Just want to figure out how many of each to order. Thanks a mill for making and sharing this video, I will continue to follow your work 👍
Hey Katharina the novas last quite a long time especially if you are just carving opal which is soft. If anything you could consider getting more of the low grit ones (280) as they will wear much quicker than the rest. The 3000 grit for example will last 10 times longer than the 280 grit.
@@RoysRocks Thanks very much for that! 👍 I got more of the 325 sintered diamond burs, and just one of each of the recommended novas. I have plenty of other bits (grinding and polishing) at home but I'm not sure what grit they are 🤦When I get my Suva order, I'll compare their bits to those I already have, and see how I can use'em as well. That's the plan anyway 😆

Hey man! Couple things I wanted to ask; · I work on all kinds of rocks with my rotary tool but mainly use it to polish them. I use grit discs ranging from 60 to 10,000. My rocks come out nice and shiny but I was wondering if you've ever done that and what were your results? · Also, I have a diamond compound from TechDiamondTools at 200,000 grit (0.1 micron) and it doesn't seem to effect anything after using the 10,000 grit discs. it should make it shine more so than even Cerium or Aluminum Oxide if I'm correct. My question though is how long do you polish for? Again, I can polish with the diamond compound for twenty to thirty minutes and it doesn't seem to make a difference after the 10,000 grit discs. Well, thank you so much for the video! It was fun to watch even though I don't work on Opal.
Not sure what type of grit measurement the pads are in but you should get a better polish from 0.1 micron diamond paste. That can yield a mirror finish on most stones.
Cerium and aluminium oxide work completely differently to diamond paste and on silica can produce much better results and quicker than diamond. I have a visor on which to choose on the channel and why.
Hi Angela, which bits do you mean? The sintered diamond burrs I get manufactured in china and the nova points are from diamond pacific who have various sellers across the world.
