    The use of IKEA furniture made this DIY project not only pointlessly expensive, but also somewhat unsafe and not durable for the long haul. That being said, I appreciate all DIY projects and I like the idea of this. I think that different materials can be used to bring down the cost significantly and make this far more durable. Personally, I wouldn't add carpet because I have pets so it would make things more difficult to maintain, but I don't think I would like this project nearly as much without making the hard surface more comfortable in some way.

      As everything in this video except the language of the speaker is Swiss 800 swiss francs for this (in switzerland) isn't bad at all. Why they didn't make that clear though I'm not sure. If you look at the language on the website: it's german. the price is in chf (swiss francs) and the plugs next to the bed are swiss as well. Saw a similar video for this idea, except the dad took out a back panel for one of the larger front cabinets making a huge crawl space underneath and the cabinet was a door to that. I agree with other people saying that this was inefficient in that he used a good portion of the pieces for just support.

    I have to buy $800 dollars worth of cabinets to not even be able to use half of them? If that were me, I would just put concrete in my bedroom instead, or find some kind of way to make a tunnel in the cabinets for my own hiding space.

    So many issues here. 1 I’m pretty sure this isn’t even your video and you narrated someone elses. . 2. This is such a dumb configuration. That bed is going to collapse being held up by only 1 cabinet. 3. how do you change the fitted sheet with a sunken mattress? Disassemble it every time you need to change a sheet?

    • @miko8732
      @miko8732 5 років тому +7

      To change the sheets you would lift the mattress, this isn't dumb as there's 2x4s holding it too and bed slats are decently strong and can probably hold a 14Yo. I do think this isn't his video tho.

      Jayden Henry I’d suggest a platform made of 2x4’s and some plywood sheets. If built right it’ll support the bed and the sheet will keep items from falling underneath the platform. I’d also suggest putting some holes in it to allow for ventilation for keep mold and other things from forming and ruining the floor.

      He's done it so that it's "simple" for people to follow, and don't have to start building frames. But yeah I agree, what a waste of furniture, and unnecessary additional cost. Everything behind the front storage cupboards should have been built up in 2x4. The slats for the bed, you can buy pre-made, you just role them out and screw them down to the frame. More spring under the mattress than 2x4 and relatively cheap.

      Oh so easy. Just like you would change the sheets on a normal bed. Just lift the mattress at the corners pulling of the sheets corner by corner. Then place clean sheets spread out on the bed. And lastly lifting the corners one by one again and putting the sheets over the corners. Isn't that how you change the sheets at every bed?
