Aerobics back then was no joke. I've seen so many daily gym bros and gals laugh at the old workouts, then try to do one and die 15 minutes in, lol. We were fit, strong, flexible and had stamina.
My mom has told me so much about the 80s being her glory years. She was born in 1960 so now I now understand why I was born in 1986. She lived her whole 20s in the 80s. I had to watch this to figure out what I missing. LOL

I lived this ! I was 22 in 1985 and the health club was ALWAYS packed ! Open 24 hours a day. There was a waiting list just to get onto a class. The music was great, clubs were packed with dancers, and we were all in good moods ! I MISS those times !
This was awesome. I wish that 80's aerobics would make a comeback. This is definitely as intense as the modern day Insanity Workout and looks much more entertaining.

My birthday will be on a Saturday this year. I bought an "I love the 80s" t-shirt, fishnet gloves, 80s themed earrings, and thinking of getting the headband as well. I never celebrate my birthday, but this year (plus no one really remembers it, not even my parents😏) I'm taking myself to this new 80s themed diner. Because you only turn 35 once!! The running joke @ the time was no matter the question posed to her- be it radio call in, talk show etc she would always ask "Do you sleep in the raw?" (naked) LOL I remember thinking WTH does that have to do with what the person's asking?!?! Still haven't figured it out....
Oh the memories! Even though I could barely do a push up or run a lap, I would still dress as an aerobic instructor whenever I could. The head bands, the scrunchy socks and oh how i loved spandex. Moose-knuckle city!
All three competitors in the individual division were fantastic, but Allison Low (Betty Lou) definitely sold it for me. She hit a flow state that took her performance well above and beyond to a definitely deserved win.
Oh yes! I came to steal moves for my strength cardio intervals class and I’m blown away. Team 3 got into ALL the push-ups. That combo into dive bombera was 🔥🔥🔥
Totally, the only winners I would have picked differently were the trio. I thought The Blue Suede Shoes had it in the bag. And the winning pair were brilliant.

For everyone who thinks this looks dorky JUST REMEMBER that in the 80's people were overall fitter and healthier than we are today. It is now 2024 and doctors are saying the world's population is overweight......They must have done something right back then.

1). That hair all the yt women were wearing was absolutely atrocious, so glad that phased out. 2). Every single black athlete in this video was MAGIC. 3). I live for those Reebok Freestyle shoes; I still own several pair of those in different colors. The royal blue ones were the cutest ones that those girls wore for Blue Suede Shoes routine. Loved the black ones with all the sparkles in them too. Wondering if they decorated those themselves or bought them like that. Then again, maybe they were sponsored by Reebok. Wouldn't be surprised. 4). For those wondering these competitions actually STILL do take place, just not in the USA any longer, although they originally started here. Go to the FIG channel if you want to see more recent ones; these continued well into the 90s and there are some as recent as 2012. So they are still a thing. FIG is headquartered in Italy now, as Europe, Asia, Eastern Europe, etc pretty much dominated and took over. These competitions began when the US was at the height of its fitness movement.

2). Every single black athlete in this video was MAGIC.
3). I live for those Reebok Freestyle shoes; I still own several pair of those in different colors. The royal blue ones were the cutest ones that those girls wore for Blue Suede Shoes routine. Loved the black ones with all the sparkles in them too. Wondering if they decorated those themselves or bought them like that. Then again, maybe they were sponsored by Reebok. Wouldn't be surprised.
4). For those wondering these competitions actually STILL do take place, just not in the USA any longer, although they originally started here. Go to the FIG channel if you want to see more recent ones; these continued well into the 90s and there are some as recent as 2012. So they are still a thing. FIG is headquartered in Italy now, as Europe, Asia, Eastern Europe, etc pretty much dominated and took over. These competitions began when the US was at the height of its fitness movement.
