  • Rajinikanth, as we know, is an iconic superstar of South Indian movies and the one among highest paid actors in the industry. But wait, before becoming a superstar, he had faced a life full of struggle and hardships. He rather accomplished his dream through repeated struggles and determination. His story is an inspiration and teaches everyone that dreaming big and persevering can make a conductor a film Superstar.Early Life Rajinikanth, born as Shivaji Rao Gaikwad on 12th December 1950, in a Marathi family, was the youngest of four siblings. His mother, Jijabai, died when he was very young and his family went through severe financial crisis; that’s when was forced to work odd jobs such as an office boy, a coolie, a carpenter, in Mysore Machinery and at one time earned money by loading rice sacks.Journey From Bus Conductor To Film StarWhen he grew up, he obtained a bus conductor licence by appearing for an exam and began working as a bus conductor for The Bangalore Transport Service. When he was working as a conductor in Bangalore he became very popular among passengers due to his style of issuing tickets and returning the change. They wanted to travel only in the bus which had Rajinikanth. It was during this time he acted in Kannada stage plays, watched a lot a films and imitated Sivaji Ganesan, Rajkumar and M. G. Ramachandran. He said that Ganesan was the reason he has been in cinema. In 1973, he joined the Madras Film Institute to learn acting skills. During that time, he got in touch with K. Balachander, an Indian Film director who worked primarily in Tamil film industry. He wasn’t instantly impressed with Rajnikanth and advised him to develop his own unique style. In 1975, when they met again, Rajnikanth was able to impress K. Balachander and bagged a small role. At the beginning of his career, Rajinikanth mostly played supporting and negative roles. His first success came through Bhairavi, where he was first cast in a lead role. The world soon recognized his acting skill.His Achievements In LifeDuring the next many years, he gave many super hits and performed in movies other languages as well. Through the 1990s, he established himself as a commercial entertainer and worked on many commercially successful and critically acclaimed movies such as Thalapathi (1991), Annamalai (1992), Baasha (1995) and Padayappa (1999). This lifted his status from an actor to an icon. His dialogues and style resonated with everyone be it a six-year-old, or a sixty.His passionate dream, hard work, and never giving up attitude made him the second highest-paid actor in Asia. Rajnikant heart is of gold.
