Was glad to see World of Illusions in this video. I lived in Pigeon Forge from 1980 to 81 and I can assure you, the displays in that place have not changed at all. LOL
8:44 God, just hearing Gordon Lightfoot’s “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” as you walked in made me feel so pumped. Gotta go here this summer. Gotta love 70s country/rock!
Glad your vehicle is back on the road! I have been to the Gatlinburg Aquarium twice and I think it is awesome so nice for them to get some publicity! Thanks for sharing!
Attaboy, Carpetbagger!!! Tell Superman about his rude self.!!! I loved that. Also loved the Carpetbagger in Mary Todd Lincolns dress!!! Good video all the way!!!!
Awesome vlog Jacob. Looks like lots of fun. Good to see folks still appreciate The Dukes of Hazard. Well, catch you on the next vlog. Congrats on getting the car fixed. Dont ride that clutch, you hear..... PAPPY says so..... Take care Jacob.... Arthur Childs, Oak Harbor, WA. 🙂
Most of Gatlinburg is T-shirts shops, and made in China junk nowadays, and almost all of them are selling bootleg items of namebrand stuff that's why they don't like people using video in their stores. I remember living in Gatlinburg back in the mid to late 80's just a few years after the 1982 worlds fair in Knoxville. I had just turned twenty, and worked at a old time photo studio on the parkway. A guy walked in an we exchanged pleasantries. I recognized who he was,but said nothing; I thought to myself perhaps he doesn't want to be hassled, but I was kinda excited too. Then a couple of minutes later he said "hey dude that's my shirt!" That shirt was a "Appetite for Destruction" T. An Axl Rose was in my studio. Later I did ask him to autograph the shirt for me. As I was giving him a free old tyme photo we talked; an I asked what brought him to Gatlinburg? He told me that he had some time to himself an came here looking for a gift for a friend, and had bought a $6,000 hand-carved dragon rockin' horse for them, and the next night! I saw G-N-R live at the Knoxville civic coliseum... Gatlinburg's parkway used to have unique one of a kind handcrafted items in it's stores all along the streets, and Mom an Pop shops everywhere. It use to be something.... I wish you guys could have seen it then. Before it became junkie. The last famous couple I met was Shaq an his girlfriend in spring of 2011. They got airbrushed T-shirts,and he said that he appreciated the fact that I was nice, and polite, and not pawing all over them. My apologies for going on an on,but I thought it would be nice if people knew how Gatlinburg use to be.. Sometime ago...
I've lived here for 30 years and I'm disappointed, also, that the arts and crafts people were forced out due to high rents and leases. There are still lots of good things here, but not like the old days.
I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at 7:28 to hear them playing Pachelbel's Canon! I recognized the Gordon Lightfoot song immediately. The octopus was beautiful. Octopi are very smart so I hope they have enrichment for him or her.
I got to visit that area in 2016 can't wait to go back. The movie car museum surprised me with how good it is and they allow cameras. Thanks for another great video.
Always enjoy your Gatlinburg/PF videos. You need to make a day trip to Emerald Village near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Spruce Pine, NC. They have a museum that is your kind of place. You may even see Pappy’s cousin! There is also a small tour that takes you into the edge of an old emerald mine. I think you would find the place interesting.
Mysterious Mansion was amazing! I go to halloween horror nights every weekend during its season every year, so I’ve grown a little immune to jump scares. the unfamiliar territory in mysterious mansion really helped with the scare factor! I definitely recommend it for anyone who wants really good scares!
Good video! World of Illusions is awful but it was fun watching you go through it. I remember Ripley’s having burned down years back with Rebel Yell corner. Hopefully the rebuilt one will have some cool new stuff to see. The aquarium is amazing!
As I was trying to climb a mountain in West Virginia,my truck decided to overheat. West Virginia doesn't believe in shoiulders. So there I was ,broke down in the travel lane of an interstate. Fortunatle it was an uphill grade and it wasn't a busy day.
I dont think I've noticed before but have you ever gone to the sugar lands visitor center in gatlinburg? its actually pretty neat in there lots of taxidermy and they even have a giftshop and stuff
Aw I went to Gatlinburg as part of a band trip and we weren't allowed to go past this one point, so we didn't get to do any of that stuff (except go to the aquarium; we did go to Ober Gatlinburg which was great - nothing was open, half of us were terrified of going up in the cable car, and the band director left without verifying that all the students had left, and nobody had any way to contact him so there'd be no way to let him know if we were having trouble).
I'm watching all your videos and everyone I find I like you more. You said that bird looks like the Drive by Truckers bird. You like awesome music as well as all your adventures are awesome
If you haven't been to Gatlinburg since 1980....you won't even recognize the place! I live near by & go there 4 -5 times a year & it's different every time we're there! Building up everywhere!
I've gone to Gatlinburg hundreds of times in my lifetime since the 80s and have seen crazy changes over time. it's one of my favourite places to escape to. but if you haven't been since 1980, there are some things there that time forgot. the "World of Illusions" attraction here is a perfect example. its outdated by about 35 years! the Mountain Mall is another one that has remained largely unchanged since the 70s/80s. it still even has that old "mall" smell. no matter what... there's no place like Gatlinburg!!
That was a fun video! I can't wait to go back in July! More specifically, July 21st at the Pigeon Forge Factory Outlet Mall at 2:00pm for the 1st Annual UA-cam Creators Meet Up! I know, is not Gatlinburg, but I'll be in Gatlinburg at some point during the trip!
Love ya Mighty steed :D Looks a bit like mine but I have a 1998 ford mini wagon in tan (more of a light mushroom colour) been my faithful for over `12 yrs but about to be replaced soon (upgraded to a newer one) :( shes goin to a new home though :) would love to go to gatlingberg looks like lots of amazing museums there wonder why so many ? whats the town in the usa that has the most museums in ?
Ironically, I just had the clutch replaced in my Explorer. It took two AAA tows to get it fixed. My clutch went out in the middle of a busy intersection at rush hour. I was not happy.
My fiance's parents live just outside of Gatlinburg. I looooooove the mountains, the wildlife and the natural beauty of the place. Gatlinburg proper is a tourist trap, if you like airbrushed t shirt stores and "moonshine" you'll love it! There are an ample amount of putt putt golf places. But seriously if you go to the area just go to the Cosby entrance of the park and camp. Smash your kids phone and ipad, give them a sick, tell them to look out for bears and to have a blast.
Was wondering when you would cover an escape room in your travels! I have spoken before with the creative director behind that location's games, his work from what I've seen is incredible.
There was a Hollywood Wax Museum in Gatlinburg back int he 80s. I forget when it closed though (I think sometime in the early 90s). Now there's a new wax museum in Pigeon Forge. Doubt anything came from there though. World of Illusions used to be WAY better back in the 80s.
This was so interesting! I so want to go to Gatlinburg. Have you ever been to the Detroit zoo? I'm from Southeast Michigan & it's one of my favorite hangouts!
At the grocery store last week, the lady cashing us out, was named Lea, and the older woman who was bagging the groceries, had a name tag that said, Princess. I am not a space cadet fan, so it was wasted.
Might not be he was riding the clutch, could also be the area he lives in, those mountain roads are hell on both manual and automatic transmissions. Plus starting and stopping on steep grades with a manual does also contribute to folks riding or slipping the clutch which is possible in his area as well.
If I owned a shop or amusement, I would have a sign that said, vloggers and photographers welcome! What a way to get advertising! What's up with all the no video! Okay, I can understand it in those escape room places, because they don't want the game ruined BUT that is the ONLY one that would get a pass for no video or photos. If someone wants to see what a store stocks or how it is run.... they will just go there... banning video won't stop it .
Mysterious Mansion has some hidden rooms and secret passage ways, they did allow some folks to video on the premise they would edit some of the "secrets" out, which the people agreed to, but then lied and posted the whole thing, so, Mysterious Mansion mixed it up a little and then banned anyone else from videoing. Case of some folks ruining it for everyone again.
yeah I wouldnt have a prob with it as long as they didnt use flash photography as some things can be sensitive to light (or in rides the flash is just annoying in ppls eyes going off every 2mins ) and if the place had hidden secret rooms etc though if its only a vlogger whats really the harm in showing it ?
I am glad to see World of Illusion is Keeping up with the worst roadside attraction Pace. I bet since your video's over the past few years they have been making profit. It is so bad you cant believe it until you have seen it. The ending is the Best when you emerge out into the Urine smelling alleyway. Fun Stuff. As always be safe in your travels
There's a great shop in I believe it was Mountain Mall, called Rhythm Section that sells movies , music, and lots of cool band merch. You should check it out if you get the chance, it's small but really awesome :) (this comment not sponsored)

I got married in Gatlinburg 12 years ago. We're getting divorced, but still a great town.
MrHeadbanger366 had my honeymoon there and Dollywood. Divorced 12 years now. Must be a curse.
Nah, not cursed. Honeymooned there and still married 31 years later.
Uncle got married there about 10 years ago, divorced 3 years later. It’s cursed
Did he happen to get married by the Hillbilly preacher?
LOL Got married at halftime during the Tennessee-Alabama game, that's the only time I could get the JOP to do it. Been divorced 20 years now.
You rock! Spent vacations as a child in the Smokies. I cannot go at the moment, so I travel through your videos. Thank you! God bless.
Leaving tonight hope to see you in town I know you go alot
Pigeon Forge really has some awesome go carts! I love the multi level ones!
RhettyforFun yeah! And the mini golf is great too
Glad your vehicle is back on the road! I have been to the Gatlinburg Aquarium twice and I think it is awesome so nice for them to get some publicity! Thanks for sharing!
I love how you started this one lol You patted your noble steed with joy ;)
Attaboy, Carpetbagger!!! Tell Superman about his rude self.!!! I loved that. Also loved the Carpetbagger in Mary Todd Lincolns dress!!! Good video all the way!!!!

This is the first video of yours I've watched but man you had me laughing! Really enjoyed it! We are heading to Gatlinburg in 3 days!
Carpetbagger, simpy the best content on the interwebz! Greets from Sweden.
Loved everything about this! Thanks Jacob!
I live only around 2 hours away from Gatlinburg in knoxville. Such a wonderful place to visit.
On those go-karts if you reach down beside the seat and grab the throttle rod and pull forward you get extra speed out of it.
Gail Nunn you don't need no license lol
I'm glad you made it home safe. I saw the live stream of you stuck on the mountain with traffic zooming by you on both sides. That was so dangerous!
Wow, absolutely LOVE the aquarium!! Can we just stay in there all day??
Gotta love the Carpet mobile!!! I feel for you having two tows in one day. I've had that happen alot in my 65 yrs!!!

Yeah, now alot of the shops are owned by Arabs who don't give two shits about southern culture. But hey we get diversity right?
I've lived here for 30 years and I'm disappointed, also, that the arts and crafts people were forced out due to high rents and leases. There are still lots of good things here, but not like the old days.
Gatlinburg is so cool. Haven't been there in ages. Thanks Jacob!
I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at 7:28 to hear them playing Pachelbel's Canon! I recognized the Gordon Lightfoot song immediately. The octopus was beautiful. Octopi are very smart so I hope they have enrichment for him or her.
It was a fun trip. Thank you! Good night. (It is 11:51 -- almost midnight in Maryland.)
My wife and I are going there this weekend. Your video was so awesome you have yourself an new sub and Patron sub.
I got to visit that area in 2016 can't wait to go back. The movie car museum surprised me with how good it is and they allow cameras. Thanks for another great video.

Going to Gatlinburg this summer, Love it there
your front lawn looks beautiful, lovely big green grass!
Mysterious mansion! How about that Meat peddler restaurant? Is that still open?
@808, this octopus reminds me of the octopus in the robin Williams movie Popeye. He fights the creature and wins
I've seen the Hunley too. That was a fascinating little side trip, to see the ship and the tank it is being restored in.
Mysterious Mansion was amazing! Loved the Octopus! Best thing ever👍🏻
You need to do HillBilly Golf...it's one of our "must do" things every visit!
Gatlinburg is one of my all time favorite places! Also, I didn’t know they were redoing Ripley’s!
Love your videos, glad to see you were in my neck of the woods!!
Hey man love the videos .next time you're in Gatlinburg look us up.we own a old time photo shop up here
As I was trying to climb a mountain in West Virginia,my truck decided to overheat. West Virginia doesn't believe in shoiulders. So there I was ,broke down in the travel lane of an interstate. Fortunatle it was an uphill grade and it wasn't a busy day.
I did a live vlog in Waynesville this evening like the master. Walking the street. Hate I didn't get to see you.
hi carpetbagger from Western PA great video
I dont think I've noticed before but have you ever gone to the sugar lands visitor center in gatlinburg? its actually pretty neat in there lots of taxidermy and they even have a giftshop and stuff
I love that place !
I love Gatlinburg. The atmosphere is great and the people are nice.

Haha! I ride the clutch. Been driving sticks for YEARS but it is a tough habit to break!
I'm watching all your videos and everyone I find I like you more. You said that bird looks like the Drive by Truckers bird. You like awesome music as well as all your adventures are awesome
I was last in Gatlinburg in 1980. I am sure it has changed quite a bit. I'm sure the bills for all of this comes at an unconvenie
can't believe op was killed before they could finish their sentence
Me neither, rip op (???-2018)
op is immortal!
If you haven't been to Gatlinburg since 1980....you won't even recognize the place! I live near by & go there 4 -5 times a year & it's different every time we're there! Building up everywhere!

Gatlinburg trips aren't complete without a corndog from fanny farklies
For real
oml so true
I know! Fanny Farkles isn't the same now after they modernized it. I have so many fond memories of that place in the 80s and 90s.
Ironically, I just had the clutch replaced in my Explorer. It took two AAA tows to get it fixed. My clutch went out in the middle of a busy intersection at rush hour. I was not happy.
Jacob, I thought you had a black "carpetmobile"!?! When will you have a meet up in Atlanta, or in the metro?
Well least we know wonder woman two is being made yayyyyy
Great video as always
I went to that jerky place that summer.
My motto is "If it weren't for bad luck. I'd have no luck at all!" Thank you Hee Haw!!
I freakin' love Gatlinburg! I'd move there if I could!
Great video.
Cool vlog channel on UA-cam
lmao I love the sarcasm in this vid
I love it when u visit this place.
Do you have PayPal? For the post cards

Jacob. Gotta check cooters in luray va out. You go on a sat from 1 to 3 you can see cooter himself very awesome place to see
Great video my friend. One of these days I'm gonna be able to afford one of those t-shirts. Love Cooters.
Was wondering when you would cover an escape room in your travels! I have spoken before with the creative director behind that location's games, his work from what I've seen is incredible.
I love the new low angle "step in" intros... life imitating art? 👍
So did World of Illusion buy out a wax museum that was going out of business and use the figures to create those random scenes?
There was a Hollywood Wax Museum in Gatlinburg back int he 80s. I forget when it closed though (I think sometime in the early 90s). Now there's a new wax museum in Pigeon Forge. Doubt anything came from there though. World of Illusions used to be WAY better back in the 80s.
So you're telling me the grin ripper is also Charles Bronson who would have known I learned something today thank you
I could sit and watch Cuttlefish all day. They're my favorite Cephalopods.
Some great funky places. Keep Safe❤ Keep Well❤
This was so interesting! I so want to go to Gatlinburg. Have you ever been to the Detroit zoo? I'm from Southeast Michigan & it's one of my favorite hangouts!
Loved the video! Oooohhh Barracuda!
At the grocery store last week, the lady cashing us out, was named Lea, and the older woman who was bagging the groceries, had a name tag that said, Princess. I am not a space cadet fan, so it was wasted.
My fave vacation spot
I’ve been there and have had moonshine it is great gotta love Tennessee shine and dukes of hazard is my fav show love the charger
Riding clutch. Holding your foot on the pedal most of the time causing excessive wear. I got 240,000 on my original clutch on my Toyjota.
Might not be he was riding the clutch, could also be the area he lives in, those mountain roads are hell on both manual and automatic transmissions. Plus starting and stopping on steep grades with a manual does also contribute to folks riding or slipping the clutch which is possible in his area as well.
Indeed, turning on the light does indeed ruin dark rides and illusions.

Any idea when Ripleys is expected to reopen. We will be there first week in July
Donald plump lol that's great.
At--7:47-- "I think you're gonna need a bigger boat. (You go there & the fish get to look at humans.)
There's a great shop in I believe it was Mountain Mall, called Rhythm Section that sells movies , music, and lots of cool band merch. You should check it out if you get the chance, it's small but really awesome :)
(this comment not sponsored)
was it mid july and was the throat dry?
The Charles Bronson Batman got me hahaha
Is ripleys haunted house gone too?
The worst is all the people smoking and the steep cabin driveways
So what was the question this guy was asking at 11:50?
I heard that after the Big Fire, the aquarium changed its name to Ripley's Seafood Buffet of the Smokies...
I go up there a pretty good bit of the time and I've been since the fire and it looks like it never even happened.
The pelican on the sign is the same on my state's flag.
You need to do a vlog of Christ in the Smokies in Gatlinburg.
The Ripley's renovation better not take away the charm! I hate places that are just screens now...
I believe your the first person to get a clear video of the inside of Earthquake, I like it...but the effects need a bit of work.
Charles Batman.
I used my camera light
Last time I looked for footage, it seemed like nobody else thought of that. So finally great to see the mystery revealed!
Sorry you had such a nightmare with your car!
