Ruger did a fantastic job with the 1895 SBL. They preserved the character and essence of the historic Marlin brand and took the manufacturing quality to a level not seen before in these rifles. The metal work inside and out is amazing and with Ruger's manufacturing capabilities they will produce that high quality consistently, and consistency is where both JM and then Remington had problems. Remington had to deal with deliberate subterfuge and sabotage as well. Regardless, from the ashes has arisen a Phoenix, the new SBL, as hopefully the first of many iconic Marlins, and it is amazing. And yes I have JMs, Remingtons (including a SBL) and the new Ruger produced Marlin SBL.

Winchester in modern Miroku Japan factory is still cranking out 45-90 in their excellent 1886 levergun. Basically everything we know about the 45-70 plus 250 fps.

He didn't say much about the Henry alternative. I thought he would go into some kind of comparison review. And the Winchester offering from Miroku was not mentioned (see other comments on this too).

I had a Remington made 1895sbl and loved it. But I think I’ll definitely be getting one of these new ruger made one and will hold onto it forever. It looks to be a much better made rifle

Not all that glitters is gold!! But I do understand you admiring the Ruger made one. The Ruger made one is near twice the price and I do not believe it is worth it.

A MSRP of $1399. I have seen gun stores with a price tag of $2200! When I see this happening, I don’t go back to those stores.

There is a reason supply and demand they don't have enough supply for the demand ive been waiting since 2019 for mine finally got one but it was more money then originally quoted but worth it

    • @florida8953

That’s because the demand exceeds the supply. Not hard, they aren’t trying to screw you. It’s just economics.

@@florida8953 What if I have to sell it? Are the stores going to give me the supply and demand price or 1/2 of MSRP?

The new marlin is really the easiest to unload just press down on the loading gate and they pop out fast

A Ruger made Marlin, much better than those made in foreign countries, simply because they are made in USA.
I wish they would make one in 45/90, and 50/110.

Ruger when are you going to start producing the various models? All we hear about is the 1895 SBL and all the hoopla over it.
Ruger doesn’t make Marlins as well as Remington did. Remington had to convert everything from antiquated machinery onto CNC machines. When Remington had all that together they made the best Marlins ever made. Compare the Remington made 1895 SBL to the Ruger made one and you will know what I mean. Shooting is believing!!

The fit and finish on the new Ruger made Marlins is far superior to anything Remington produced

I purchased a new RM 1895ss in 2014 for $600.00. The fit, finish, accuracy is excellent. I hope the new Ruger Marlins are twice as good, you're paying for it.

Absolutely incorrect. Ruger improved the manufacturing of the Marlin line more than Remington ever did. There are videos on UA-cam that show them being made by Ruger and the improvements they made. The tolerances are so uniform that you can assemble the gun at the end of the manufacturing process instead of gunsmithing each one together.
