I made it. Here is the end of my trip moving from California to Kentucky. It was quite a drive in that huge U-Haul truck. I am still sore a day and a half later.
Last year we came from OR to KY. We are originally from CA. We do have Southern Roots. We love KY. Most of our family will be moving out here in the next few months.
Welcome Home neighbor. I moved from California also, but found my special place, about 80 miles from Lexington, in Olive Hill. Rose Ridge is just a few miles from I-64. I guess you could say that I'm across the street from what used to be Smokey Valley Restaurant and truck stop. Great show, that you made.
can i ask all y'all a question? why are people leaving California to come here? i'm not trying to be mean. i'm just curious, mostly because a lot of people seem to be migrating.
Grizzon. Sure wish you could spell. Hearing somerhing, does not make it true. What you hear is not true. Please use both hands and you can pull your head out of your own A$$. 😁😀😊🎉🎊🎈
Most of the stone bridges you were asking about were built by Irish immigrant stone masons in the 1900-1920s and 30s. We have them in our part of the state and they are the most amazing bridges, showcasing the handiwork of those extraordinary craftsman. Every one of them is a work of art.
How is it in Kentucky? My wife and I live in Texas right now, we've lived here our whole lives. But it just seems to be getting worse and worse as far as the shootings and violence goes. Not to mention more and more homeless people and it's really turning Ghetto here too. Someone here told us about Kentucky. They said Louisville Kentucky would be a great place to move. Not sure what's your opinion on that. We're thinking about moving very very soon! Soon as this month
Thanks Brother. It's definitely been an experience so far. And it's not over yet. I still don't have an apartment, but I'm working on it. I did manage to get my Kentucky fishing license already though, :-)
Thanks for sharing your trip. I know the drive is taxing enough without trying to film it. Back in November,(2019) I took almost the same route in my Ranger pick-up from Sol-cal to Pennsylvania, where I'll be permanently moving to soon. It will be in one of those big U-hauls with a car in toe. So thanks again for your vids.
Thanks John. As soon as I get settled in here I will be back out in the woods. And the nice thing about here is I don't have to spend a whole day just to get to the woods. I can't wait to get out there with my new metal detector too. Try to find some old civil war relics or something. Who knows?
+Tin Nguyen I would have said Louisville as one option, but there's been lots of shootings lately. I guess it depends on the type of work you do. Lexington is good for work. Other than that I would say Northern Kentucky. Near Cincinnati. Feel free to PM me if you want too.
Awsome video I'm gonna be making the trip from nebraska to California in a couple of weeks and i was deciding if i wanted to go threw the montains (colorado Utah Nevada) or go south then west (Kansas corner of Texas new mexico Arizona) and the scenery you filmed swayed me to go south then west. Glad you made it safe hope everything worked out for you!
Hey Alex. If you plan to go south on your trip, I recommend that you go down and go through Texas and New Mexico on Interstate 40. I will never go through Denver Colorado again, if I ever drive out that way again. Interstate 70 through Colorado sucks because of all the switchbacks. Driving on Interstate 80 into Utah and down Interstate 15 to California is a very pretty route. I think that is my favorite because you see a larger variety of the mountains.
PoopingAndroid yea I've heard about how terrible driving threw colorado montains in a car is. Im gonna be taking a uhaul as well but luckily it is only 14' but i am definitely taking the route going threw texas. I sure am glad i found this video before i went. I think i might make my own version from nebraska to california
I enjoyed watching your video. Glad you made it safely to Kentucky. I am from Texas, but I have lived in California. I am now living in Virginia. I have visited Kentucky a few times, including Lexington. It's a nice city and I like the horse farms around it. All the best to you! P.S. When you drove through Texas, you must have driven on I-40 through the Panhandle of Texas (Amarillo). Yes, it is rather flat there. If you are driving east from El Paso on I-10, you will see more variation in the terrain, including the Hill Country in and around San Antonio.
Now that was a trip for sure.I know it took alot longer to drive than it took to watch.I have been pretty sick the last month or so i still am really.I didn't know you was moving from Cali to Kentucky.I guess a person has to go to where the work is.You said that you lived there in the past.I hope the new job works out for ya for sure.I didn't hear ya say anything about doing any of your hiking videos like you did in Cali. Does Kentucky have any of the AP trails that run through it? I am not sure how far you are from some of the other You-tube guys who make hiking and camping videos.I know i am subbed to a few who live out that way.I will be waiting to see your next video is about if my health stays good.Take care and thanks for sharing.
Hey Mike. For sure I will be hiking and making videos here in Kentucky. I just need to get my things together here and get settled in. Hope you get feeling better soon.
Really #smart #marketing to do videos if you're ever in Asheville please connect with me I will buy lunch anytime enjoy the sunset in your video life is so good at UA-cam
+ASHEVILLE MOVING COMPANY I don't think I have ever been to Ashville, but if I am I will hit you up. Sorry that I didn't see your message until just now.
+juan gonzales Lexington is a good town. A lot less violence that there is in Louisville. It cost me a couple grand just in moving costs. The truck rental, motel rooms, etc. Gas was $1000 alone. But it was twice the price that it is right now.
+PoopingAndroid I hope I don't have to spend a grand for gas. I'm moving from Rancho Cucumonga, Ca to Ringgold, Ga using a 26' UHaul with a car carrier in tow. How many days did it take you?
Last year we came from OR to KY. We are originally from CA. We do have Southern Roots. We love KY. Most of our family will be moving out here in the next few months.
I don't like the humidity in the east. Good luck to you all.
Thanks for sharing! I remembered when I was driving with my wife to visit San Diego from KY, I was journey and it was fun.
Are you still in KY?
Welcome Home neighbor. I moved from California also, but found my special place, about 80 miles from Lexington, in Olive Hill. Rose Ridge is just a few miles from I-64. I guess you could say that I'm across the street from what used to be Smokey Valley Restaurant and truck stop. Great show, that you made.
I took the same route on my move from L.A. to Louisville in 2016 took me 30 hrs with a few rest stops in between and no sleep over.
But I bet you weren't driving a huge, slow, 25 foot u-haul. LOL
Correct i was just driving an Suv. How do you like living in Lexington iv'e been there it's a very nice city.
can i ask all y'all a question? why are people leaving California to come here? i'm not trying to be mean. i'm just curious, mostly because a lot of people seem to be migrating.
im from LA MOVING DOWN FOR SCHOOL . HOW WAS THE TRANSITION?
I'm in Cali on the road to Kentucky
Cool. Safe travels.
I arrived 04.15.1970, from California. I never looked back.
Welcome to Kentucky.
Please Please keep your California Crap in California.
Shine On.

Most folks that move out CA are sick and tired of that state and its ideology. Consider it a political asylum.
I'm moving to Lexington this year from Empire, Calif. probably use a 26-foot U-Haul W/trailer...

Welcome to Kentucky! We just moved here from upstate New York 6 years ago and we never regretted with our decision, but we are so loving it here!
That was like 6 years ago. I now live back in Michigan with my little sister fixing up her property for rent. I love Kentucky but family comes first.

I drove for 16 hours straight to get from California to Idaho
Yeah. Driving across the country takes a lot of time. I've done it many times.

What part of Ky did you end up in ?
I lived in Shelbyville for a couple of years, but moved back home to Michigan with family now.
Did you have to stop at weigh stations?
No. Only commercial vehicles have to do that.
Buddy my family and I are moving from riverside to Kentucky possible outside of Lexington. How much did the move cost and any recommendations?
+juan gonzales Lexington is a good town. A lot less violence that there is in Louisville. It cost me a couple grand just in moving costs. The truck rental, motel rooms, etc. Gas was $1000 alone. But it was twice the price that it is right now.
