I have stopped traveling for a while due to constant troubles getting through TSA! However, just recently I reasoned, if going through the small baggage X-rays at the TSA checkpoint caused the software or component damage, don’t you think SOMEONE would complained about it regarding their cell phones and laptops by now? I haven’t heard of any of that! Let’s face it, the medical companies are only trying to stay clear of litigation! Just a thought!
I get my pump and CGM supplies directly from Medtronic. Can’t just walk into a random pharmacy and get infusion sets, reservoirs, and sensors for the 780 and Guardian 4. 😬
Do not put any of your Dexcom G6 components in checked baggage. Carry it with you for hand wanding or visual checks. The website says do not use baggage xray machines. The video was showing the sensors being put in check in bags.
I am type 1. I don’t use isoline yet, just metformin. I have all my testing tools in one small bag and it will be in my personal carry on. Do I need to pull that bag out going through TSA? It’s clearly marked on the bag “ All my diabetes s*t on the bag. I got the little bag off of Temu by the way. I have my test strips in its original container, and the testing needles in little pouches labeled along with the monitor and testing pen. I’m hoping I don’t have any issues with TSA.
In my experience, it seems TSA agents get zero education about all things diabetes. I simply don’t travel unless I absolutely have to and when I do I just try to “bear it” through all the personal, public “violations” they have put me through. I usually arrive in a foul mood, but if you want me to travel, that’s the price. (Haven’t flown anywhere in years, personal choice.)
Medical supplies do not count towards your carry-on limit. I traveled to and from Thailand, so I used an insulated large lunch bag as my medical bag. It had to be kept nearby so not in the belly of the plane.
Where can I find the little pouch where you keep your insulin and your meter in i like how it have the little pocket to put the use test strips in thank you
Ive traveled the world never lost a pdm. I never considered the possibility. Do they provide a second one? Since dash was small I place in hidden travel wallet under my cloths and I wrap it in ziplock bag to keep it dry. 😂. Never thought of a second PDM.
@@typ3me I don’t own a spare. But I never check supplies into cargo. I carry my supplies with me in carry on and keep close to me at all times. Insulin pods adhesives etc all with me. If I check anything would be two or three more pods but I carry the more than need on me. 👍I love your videos have navigating insulin pumps pods on my own no idea a community existed.
Thanks, Kelly. I tried to extend the use of all of my pods and sensors until they screamed at me to remove them. When you add it all up, you can begin to build up a stash if you are picking up new devices regularly.

Good point and I completely agree. 👍
I found that using a bag of frozen candy bars in my cooler bag to keep my insulin cold. This does not alarm TSA.
Great idea

I'm sorry to hear that. I use ombiood 5, and those puppies are always available.
Great video! Thank you for doing this!
You're welcome Marie happy travels
Really appreciated your tips. I haven't flown in a while to the TSA tips were a great reminder.
You're very welcome Amber, have a safe trip.
Ha ha great video. Always wonder what other Type 1 Diabetics do when it comes to travelling. Hello from England
Hi T1 Champ. Thanks for the positive feedback. ☺️

I personally could not tell a difference from the ones that were in my carry on and those that were X-rayed. But, that’s just me.

Yes, you can always bring spares in a carry-on. It's best to be prepared just in case.

Thanks, Diana. I really appreciate your encouraging words and input.
Great video! Just one question… how do you get such a large stash of extra pods and CGMs? My health insurance only covers the bare minimum at a time.

If I can't travel with just a carry on - forget it.
amazing . catch you later-friend-🤞
Your welcome have safe travels.
