Got this in the Mega bundle and finally got around to using it and I must say, as a long-time bedroom producer and UA-cam “trained” engineer, this is like the kind of thing I used to dream of. Never really thought there would actually be something like it in reality lol. The parameters actually sound quite good and pretty transparent. Dialing everything in was really intuitive. I am really grateful for where music technology has come.

Got it for 19 bucks what can i say ? best simple mastering plugin i have and i have a lot lol, tested for 2 days , it really does the job when you are an indie artist sounding super smooth too, well done guys , i was using one of your competitors but i now am a convert and do not see myself coming back to the others i was using before!!!! Kudos and its fun to use i find

That statement about loudness normalisation by the streaming services is not true. They only turn too loud mixed down. If you're too quiet, your Spotify mix won't get turned up and others will sound louder... So definitely be always (a little) louder than - 14lufs.
I know UA-cam doesn't turn up the volume. I just learning how to get the LUFS & peak levels where I need them, AND have them sound loud.
Hey, Charles here (the guy in the video). I may have been unclear about this but I agree with you. Perhaps I should have said, "streaming services normalize music DOWN to around this range". In fact, I have an entire video explaining why it makes sense to master your music to -13 LUFS or higher: ua-cam.com/video/_rKCmXIoygg/v-deo.html
On a side note, Spotify used to limit quiet mixes to bring them up to -14 LUFS until somewhat recently (as you'll see in the linked video). Prior to this, it still made sense to master your music louder than -14 LUFS (for Spotify) so that you'd have full control over the limiting process. As a result, not much has changed in terms of target LUFS levels.
Master as loud as you want so long as it isn't distorting or degrading the quality of the mix. If that's -6lufs then so be it.
Streaky says that he & all mastering engineers always master at -8 dB LUFS & -1 dB peak. They go lower at -10 LUFS for softer genres. I almost didn't believe him until I knew who he is.
@@na_der it depends of your mixing style, Serban Ghenea mixes into a limiter since the start at about -8lufs, Tom Elmhirst doesn't give a f*** about loudness and mixes super dynamic without any sort of limiter or multi band weird stuff ✌️
Agreed, fantastic video! I'm still a little unsure what I'm listening for when the Resonance Filters are soloed - Same when using the V3 EQ etc. "Still learning" I love this plugin, make all the videos like this !

I like using this (actually the old version, but I'm about to upgrade) on and off during the mix phase as a preview of what to expect from the mix (rendered without Master Desk) when run through a full PA mastering chain. Really helps for quickly uncovering little issues that are better addressed in the mix itself before spending time with the full blown mastering chain. Also great for surprisingly good "spent 60 seconds" masters.

Exactly how I use it. I turn it off in mastering but use other plugins in my mastering chain. Its great for the down and dirty mixes i make during production. I like having rough mixes to listen to the next day to get a better sense of how the mix is going.

This is always on the bottom of my master buss, it's a gluing plugin and a good tool to normalize your work. If your project suites this.

Hey Charles!!Glad I decided to check this out man;have the standard version and been studying some videos to figure out how things work so everything you went into was great as the 2 versions are similar in most aspects...more importantly though-GREAT TRACK like others of yours I've mentioned liking in the past-make sure to tell your wife she sounds excellent here,really a big fan of her vocal style...

I often use bx masterdesk in my mastering chain when i start up a track to have a better idea of what my track will sound like at a more polished volume. I have a preset that i built a while ago that i like to use. When i saw they had a true peak version i upgraded it. This is one of a handful of Plugin alliance plugins i own. I have a mix and mastering sub but often buy some of the plugins i want to own.

I used bx_masterdesk classic to master some demos that I'm releasing soon. I bought the true peak version literally hours after I released it. It makes mastering so simple.

Do you have to use such annoying music though?
I really like Masterdesk True Peak, but adding Streamliner really made everything confusing. I thought that I had a good master in True Peak, but trying to make adjustments after adding Streamliner is difficult. Do you have any recommendations on how to do this?
are you placing this on the master bus as the final step to a mix with other plugs, or are you completing a master bus mixdown then running the stereo mix into the master deck in a seperate session?

What a great song kudos to you and your wife. I tuned in to this channel to get some insight with this plugin because I have the one before this came out. Nonetheless I got so wrapped up in the tune I got distracted from the tutorial demonstration. Is this song available on any of the platforms? If so can you please post a link. Hello, I am from Greece I downloaded this today and I have a trial for 14 days. Some friends told me it's not for full mixes mastered. For example I have songs from old Greek tapes and vinyls (that never released in compact disc) in flac and wav format that they were recorded with very closed sound and hard bass that distorts the sound awfully! But I see some improvement, it opens the sound in some way and removes some kind of harshness!I try to keep a balance, not to open more the sound! I think that sound I take it s far better in my opinion from the 80% of new greek and international commercial songs that they are recorded with much lowend and heavy bass, heavy kick,subbass, loudness and overcompression.

Are the algorithms the same as the previous version if you don’t select the true peak option?
Yes, you can dial in the same sounds as with the bx_masterdesk V1. Apart of that, the TMT Mode for the 4 Compressor settings can now be switched between Analog and Digital Mode. Also, the Compressor Mix range has been extended to the entire range and allows settings from 0% to 100% compression. The whole GUI has been revised to be more readable.
I recently bought Ozone 10... but I haven't used it since I got this one!

With the first step of turning up the volume knob so it’s “within the green level”, no matter if the knob is at zero or full, the level is “within the green level”. I can’t work out what volume level is appropriate.

Presets were blank when i installed VST/windows version. Are there any VST3 preset files available for import, like previous versions of masterdesk? The PA "all plugin presets" vst file doesn't seem to include any.

Great video ... question. So the Output Trim acts as a kind of hard limiter? If you set it to (say) -1.0dB, that will be the ceiling regardless of how hard you drive the volume?

I don't understand why my Masterdesk "version" has different Compression / limiter buttons (1.6).
And why it doesn't change the sound like this one in this video.

The Masterdesk I have here is the "Masterdesk" with both, the one in between the True Peak version and the Classic version. So, no excellent results like we can observe here in this video.
Maybe there's some affordable price for people like me to buy the "top version"...
