I know this wasn't as technical as usual, but I really did enjoy both messing around with the REDMAGIC 9S Pro and diving into the ARM architecture. So if you actually want a really cool phone with the top SoC on the market today, check it out: bit.ly/3AZLKTe
Hopefully they paid you well for this. And thanks for making what was essentially an ad entertaining and informative. Hopefully you don't get too much hate for the video.
@@krispingle I'm not opposed to advertisement videos in general, but if the creator doesn't make it clear on their own that the video is just an ad and not a regular video that's been sponsored then it just feels slimy. I'll point to Adam Ragusea as someone who does it in a way that I personally find unoffensive. They ALWAYS start by him saying "This is a sponsored video/advertisement for ". No realizing halfway through that all he wants to do is sell you something, you know right from the start and you can decide if you want to watch that or not without having to come to the slow realization yourself.
I don't mind sponsored videos but the ad to cool stuff ratio feels a bit out of balance here :/ Cool concept though, running assembly on Android is interesting
This is just an ad, with half of the video being just marketing jargon from the sponsor. I get ya trying to make a bag from the company, but this probably wasn't the best way going at it.
Your proof that this phone has the most powerful arm processor is that it wins from other android smartphones in one benchmark. Wow, the proof standards are high here /s 1. One benchmark proves nothing 2. Android smartphones aren't the only devices using arm. E.g. iPhones, ARM workstations, copilot+ pc, etc. Edit: What is essentially a 12 minute ad isn't cool, man. We understand that money is important, but as your audience it really doesn't feel good to be sold like that.
ARM is not efficient just because it's RISC. Don't get confused about that. First of all that ARM CPU in your phone isn't even really RISC at this point. It has SIMD instructions, which is something they took from x86 CPUs. x86 were the first with SIMD instructions with their MMX instructions included in the Pentium 2, and then SSE in the Pentium 3, and much later on with AVX. Second of all, the only thing ARM has going for it is that they specialized in making it use less power while idling and many implementations use much fewer transistors than desktop chips. A lot of cheap devices with ARM CPUs that seem "power efficient" only seem that way because they're optimized at literally doing nothing, as in they have perfected the art of dropping down to a low CPU frequency and doing nothing at all besides keeping the RAM awake and being able to wake up and continue operating. Only recently we got Apple's M1 chips which convinced a lot of people that they can do more than sleep all day but the thing is that they're only somewhat more efficient than AMD's x86 CPUs and not let's say 5 times more efficient. I'm pretty sure it's not even twice as efficient. A lot of their efficiency gains are dirty tricks like putting the RAM onto the CPU die and using TSMC's latest manufacturing technology. Well guess what? Intel's going to do the same thing with their laptop chips. This generation they're putting the RAM on the CPU die and also using TSMC for the manufacturing. Now we'll see who is 'efficient'.
Nah man. Your content is so cool, but don't bait us with a full ad video. The audience you're attracting is not a 13 years old. Please reflect on that.
6:29 Windows ARM is only currently able to run on some Pixel models using a KVM implementation that is mainly geared towards sandboxing apps. It doesn't currently have any hardware acceleration for graphics unfortunately. There was some momentum directly from Google on getting Chrome OS to run, but they have seemingly stopped updating that specific project and said that it was never intended to be implemented.
title: "World's Most Powerful ARM Chip" actual video: "almost the world's most powerful MOBILE ARM chip" c'mon man, you can do better than this clearly-an-ad clickbait, we've seen it.
Things you can't do on a phone is having any chance of any sort of access to at least the OS level software stack in most cases and have working drivers or documentation to implement them to a level of capability to the stock, and not be left high and dry when the OEM decides they think you should buy a whole new device and toss the one you have that may otherwise be totally capable of doing what you need.
Arm has serious potential to be a powerful and power effiecient option for desktop and laptop computers. Hopefully other companies besides Apple and Microsoft start putting some effort into Arm for computers. Also, I dislike this obvious advertisement for a cell phone.
I mean, can that phone can handle modeling CAD and 3D softwares like Revit, Blender and Unreal which I have to use for my work right now? Maybe in future but currently, it is for mobile gaming and emulations is what it good at. Don't get me wrong, I like you messing with phone and could ignore the whole video is ad but that statment got me to write this comment.
Im commenting for the first time in years just to say: If you're gonna make the entire video an ad, please disclose it first. This is really disappointing to see from you man
while subject is fascinating, ad makes perfect sense in this context to the point where i am really interested in one of these phones, i can't stand this awful noise in the background. sure, not anyone listens to grunge metal or whatever on a daily basis but at least try to pick some less obnoxiuos BGM or ditch music altogether - nowadays we do have enough computing pawah to run youtube AND music of our choice a the same time.
"What can you do on a PC that you can't do on the [advertisement]" Dedicated mouse and keyboard for starters. Typing by using a touch screen has always sucked, and hearing from my young nephews, still sucks.
I think while the idea is cool, the video feels like a total cheap advertisment. Sponsorings are great, and they offer great possibilities, but this was too much. Im sorry but you can do better. I know and I love your videos. you have great power in entertaining and mainly trust from us. dont waste that trust for dump sponsorments, or you will become a cheap ad wh*re who noone trusts anymore.
Am I the only one who had no issues with this video then? I swear, people are way too averse to sponsored content and ads nowadays. If it's entertaining and/or interesting, I don't care if it's sponsored. But people instantly assume that since this content is sponsored, it must suck. People install adblock and sponsorblock and then throw a hissy fit, since they're entirely used to get all content for free without any drawbacks

Exactly what I did 😂😂😂
I think you had the proportions of the video swapped. I would have like to skip through 1 min of phone ad rather than most of the video.
I agree. This video kept feeling like it was written by one of the characters from the Truman show.
