Hi, excellent process of investigation to find the fault in the sensor, and your diagnosis is spot on.
"First, check all the sensors by disconnecting them one by one and see if any are stealing those 5volts.
Secondly, test all the wires ....." Excellent work from Dan and as @Kennedysgarage3281 mentioned, "every day is a school day."
I'm sure any other garage would have recommended changing parts before doing this research as the mazda dealer recommended to me, I'm very pleased with your and Dan's work. I can't wait to see the results of the test drive of my CX5.

Hi man, I've got a 2016 Mazda 6 2.2D and my consumption is 7 L/100. It seems too high, I've done a clean of inlet and there was some carbon, and i have replaced the oil pump strainer.
Still despite new oil is still high. I have no fault codes. Any thoughts?
General question - I wtched few of your vids, I changed my injectors and the breather o the valve cover, thanmk you for the instructions - my car seems to be choking when on a brake [automatic transmission] - there is a small leak from the valve cover gasket. Could that cause that engine choking, when brake pedal is pressed in in Drive? Sometimes it smokes a lot of white. No dpf or catalytic conv anymore. 2.2 skyactive Mazda 6 2013.

There are no more mechanics, they are only techs now. Computer techs. Every single tech that went in to the trade professionally post 2011 has no idea how to work on/ build/ rebuild or diagnose anything mechanical without a computer. If my mechanic has no idea about a 2 or 4 stroke engine, I walk the fuck out.
Why a 2 or 4 stroke motorcycle engine? Because it tells me they know what a spark plug/compression/gasket and bore are.
