Apparently the scene is starting to blow up here again in Florida with a new generation of kids. I grew up in the early 00's and cool edit pro was my poison of choice. I spent a lot of time listening to Florida breaks and even met some of the old breaks Dj's such as DJ infinity and the dude who made fruity beats i think the albums were named. He worked at painted puppy which was a vinyl spot somewhere around the Orlando/tampa area. This was right around the time that ableton was starting to see some major adoption sometime circa 04/05 i believe. I also took a lot of inspiration from aphex twin, square pusher, tipper, and the flashbulb growing up. Such a time to be alive. Just hearing my friend talk about the scene coming back is a real joy. Apparently the kids are even wearing 90's attire to the clubs which is something i need to see to believe. If youre ever in tampa florda you should check it out. I believe its somewhere in ybor which makes sense. Ybor used to have a pretty decent club scene but nowhere near as big as orlando from what i recall. at least before Orlando did the whole late night club ban law that pretty much killed the scene overnight.
I was worried for a moment the sampling would involve that basic portable lmao. It’s fine for checking it works of course, makes sense to bring over to the desk. But was very glad to see some proper kit used to sample!
I love tapes and discs and physical objects with which I can touch to my fingers that hold such great feelings and emotions I want to own the things I enjoy and have them and hold them
Heck, even Delia Derbyshire (helped pioneer electronic music production and made the first Dr Who theme tune) said what drew her to electronic music was the tactility of tape. “Tape turns sound into an object, which you can then manipulate and turn into all sorts of things” was I believe how she said it in a 60s interview. She made lots of really interesting pioneering music out of “found sound”, a lot like we would today with samples… but she manually spliced and cued-up tape loops of different lengths to create HER polymetric found-sound rhythms from everyday objects. An absolute inspiration
this video and the loops you made were a joy to watch and listen to! kind of helping me re-kindle my old skool jungle production days! wanna get back into it with trackers and tape lol. big up yerself and the jungle vibe! peace
Looks like tape splicing is the way, huh? Love the way that sounds. I love how with tapes, it has a specific kind of sound I can't explain whenever you adjust the speed of the heads running. And if that speed is oscillating, it has that nice warm "tape" sound I crave. I wonder if there are any good tape emulator VSTs that could do that kind of thing. Nice going though. I want to learn how to use tracker software too. My first venture into it was kind of a mess but I found it fascinating.
yeah i did the break, the bass, the pad and the vocal samples all on their own individual tape loop then recorded them back into my computer and chopped them all up :)
hello there ! how do you find inspiration to create some great jungle like that? that track at the end sounds very good ! :D i don't exactly know who is known or not in the jungle community but i've never heard a radiobomb track in any jungle compilation i've listen to yet , i had this tape when i was young and i've never heard a jungle similar to that , i don"t know how to describe it but it's not usual jungle maybe you know what it is . also maybe you can get some great inspirations from it :D ua-cam.com/video/2iEjZWexDIc/v-deo.html
