Great content, still waiting for you patreon ;).
All this time i save... watching you sift trough all this valuable info.
the only issue with Fin is that because it inhibits the production of DHT that means you generally have more free test in the body which can potentially higher your oestrogen levels also, and thats why some men can develop libido issues or physical problems like Gyno
kevin is my hero on the topic of hair loss!!
Basically having low levels of testoerone or high levels of estrogen can mess with the eclectically activity in your heart. Before I started TRT when my test levels were like 250-320 at 34 years old I had palpitations all the time. Once I was on TRT for about 4 months and my test levels hover around 800 the palpitations are pretty much gone, so it was the low T that was causing it. If any anti androgen like RU58841 gets into your bloodstream somehow and messes with your hormones it will effect your heart negatively until it gets out of your system. Just make sure you have no open wounds on your head when you use these compounds and you’ll be fine.
@@jessie729 that subsides once your body regulates to the regimen. I had same thing, and it ended up going away. Your body can adapt to anything however you should always start at a low dosage then slowly increase to your desired dosage.
I wouldn't touch the stuff again. Not worth risking heart health for some hair. We don't know what it's potentially doing. Get a hair transplant and a derma roller and big 3 shampoo or get a hair system if your hair is beyond repair. I'm not gonna be a lab monkey 🐵
Hi Kevin,
Your videos are really informational and I've recently bought some finasteride and I'm going to take them to the doctors with me to get his approval. What tests should I ask my doctor for to make sure I can minimise the chances of getting any sort of side effects. Like would tests showing my estrogen and testosterone levels help in making a decision as it could show I have low or high levels in either hormone?
Question; If you are non-responsder to FInasteride to the point that is makes your hair much much worse. And, assuming the poor results are NOT due to shedding would it be best to taper off Finasteride and start using RU? I mean if you are on Finasteride for say 2 years and your hair has gotten a lot worse since baseline then it means your DHT being blocked from Fin is actually working against your body chemistry?
You should post more dude!! love your content as I am a 23 year old experiencing hair loss :/

Mauri Mela can you expand on this bro? Bone broth? I’ll add this to my own natural regimen
I like how you said for legal purposes, "my research subjects" and not "myself"
Is it actually a crime to use ru58841 on oneself?
If low testosterone causes heart problems, then wouldn't blocking androgen receptors have the same effect? RU58841 prevents testosterone from exerting its effect at the androgen receptor at the heart muscle like in the case when there is not enough testosterone in the bloodstream.

Hey Kevin! Great videos and thanks for everything your doing! Would really appreciate your thoughts on this. So I've been using RU 0.5ml on my research subject for a week now and they've noticed chest/heart pains which is new. It's not high blood pressure which I'm closely monitoring so wondering if they should just plow through it since it seems to be working, but I'm also terrified that I'm causing significant more harm than good. Also worth noting that they've been on fin for like 10 years (since 20 yrs old) and have never had any side effects that I know of. Should they maybe try CB? Thanks brother!
Hey mate, thanks for sharing your experience.
How are you doing these days? Is your research subject still taking the drug?
Any developments? Good or bad?
i using ru since 2020 and never had any hart problems. Maybe ru its not for everybody.
Kev, thank you again for a very informative information. I have been stacking minoxidil and propecia. What's your take on micro needling?
hi kevin im taking finasteride, minoxidil and nizoral to combat hairloss I am wondering what could I add to my regimen to combat it further? any response would be very helpful thank you
What is your current hair stack? Does your research specimen still use RU?
Thanks for the great content Kevin.. This may be a dumb question, but what do you mean by "research subjects" in regards to using ru58841 ?
It’s to protect himself from a legal point. It supposed to be used only for research purpose
Research subject actually means himself. He just didn't want to get into trouble with the law.
A few questions related to the video; 1) What's your view on Minoxidil side effects? I've noted that one potential effect listed online is also heart palpitations suggesting some detrimental effect on cardiovascular health. Also, many threads in hairloss forums about wrinkles and dark eye circles from Minoxidil. 2) How would you compare topical finasteride to RU58841 in terms of efficacy?
Sure.
1. Minoxidil is also an anti hypertensive drug so I could see this being an issue. It's rare but if you are experiencing chest pains on minoxidil I would definitely stop and speak to a doctor.
2. There is an in vivo study showing minoxidil is a collagen suppressor granted that is not strong evidence. I haven't experienced any sides but I use tretinoin which promotes collagen production on the skin so that might be what is helping.
3. RU is better imo since it suppresses both test and DHT unlike fin which just suppresses the latter.
Minoxodil really messed up my face. Like in a couple days had huge bags under my eyes. Luckily after I quit they went away though but the collagen effect for me atleast was definitely huge
Hey Kevin what do you think about Anavar only cycle and Mpb suffers? I've heard a lot of people can get along with that
Bad idea, you need at least a TRT base of testosterone to counter the suppression and all steroids are suppressive.
Anavar is DHT based so it is not hair safe and furthermore it is VERY commonly faked as actual anavar is crazy expensive and it is often faked with dianabol which is very bad for the hair.
As much as I wish otherwise, there is no hair safe steroid.
Is there any legitimate reason why the drug would have been abandoned if it has efficacy in treating androgenic alopecia? How can a person determine or make an educated guess as to why it was abandoned?
do you have video about what you think about Brezzula? heard their phase 2 with 7.5% concentration offers promising result , similar to finasteride but without the systemic side effects.
@haircafe where do you get you’re ru58841? Also you should do a video on how you apply your topicals
I got it from kane shop. I just took a 10 MG scoop and would mix 20 MG into 3-6 ML of stemoxydine before applying it to my research subject.

Do you think the standard dose (50mg) on a research subject is too high?
Thanks for making this video Kevin, lots of great information. I was wondering what your opinion is on if RU and dutasteride would be overkill? I have responded mediocre to finasteride through 8 months. Thanks so much.
No problem and RU plus dutasteride is legit and probably the strongest stack you could use.
You can nuke your DHT with Dut and take care of any remaining androgens on the scalp with RU. It is good for people when fin isn't strong enough.
Hey Kevin! Can you make a video about drugs that can cause hair loss (like beta blockers, methylphenidate, etc..) ?
Thank you for your work by the way :)
Hey where is a source you can trust to purchase this stuff? For research, of course.
Does ru have depending mechanizem?
Like minox?
Or the gains from ru could keep on fin alone?
It is an anti androgen so you could switch to fin and vice versa without losing anything.
What hairstyle do you ask/show your barber? I want something similar to yours but I’m not sure what I should tell my stylist. What cm do you get on the sides usually? Thanks!
Just 3 CM fade on the side and then tell them to take a little off on the top.
Kevin Mann Cool, Thanks. Finasteride is working great for me by the way. Would you suggest Minox for diffuse thinning or should I stick with fin for hair loss and Toppik for cosmetic effect? Cheers Kevin
@@user-ql8oi9tv5x If Fin is working I don't think minoxidil will probably add much more density. If you don't mind using toppik I would just stick with that since I think its a Godsend for diffuse thinners.
Is there any work being done to make RU58841 available with prescription? It seems like an important long-term adjunct treatment for finasteride users.
Hey kevin great video!
I was on oral finasteride for about 6 months, but the constant ball aches where getting to me. I want to start topical finasteride but i don't understand how this will work. Because it isn't a direct dht blocker it has to bind to 5 alpha reductase. Will it than bind to 5 alpha reductase in the scalp only? So it means that testosterone goes to your hairfolicels and then turns into dht? What about the dht being made in the prostate, doesn't that dht go to your hair anyway and start damaging your hair? Could you maybe do a video about this?
Thanks! There is actually a ton of alpha 5 activity on the scalp so yes topical finasteride will work by suppressing the DHT locally.
It doesn't affect the prostate but that shouldn't be an issue unless you have BPH.
Hey Kevin, love your videos keep the content coming when you can. Ive got a question - do hair relaxers or hair straightening products cause damage to hair follicles? And if so, do you think its possible to chemically straighten hair without damaging them?
Does your test subject have ru put in minoxidil or used seperately Kevin ?
What do you do? I do both but I don’t know any better. It does work for me tho
How do you feel about hair systems for guys who are like Norwood 7s? From what I seen they come a long way as far as looking realistic. If my hair ever gets to that point and we still don't have like hair cloning by then I feel like I'd have to get one
I think they look really good, definitely way better than they did 20-30 years ago.
RU doesn't cause just low androgen levels, however. It doesn't effect serum androgens at all as you mention. But the concern is when it occupies the androgen receptor of a heart cell for instance, that receptor is 100% deprived of androgens. It's not just low androgens from the perspective of that receptor, it's literally 0 androgens. The question is if that is potentially damaging to cells or the heart. Not being a critic I just don't find this video convincing in terms of addressing heart related concerns regarding RU. If you have any insight into that, it would be nice.
Why would it occupy 100%? It doesnt occupy nearly as much on the application site, so why would it do that on the heart?
Is there actual evidence that Ru cause hearth problems and what do you think about it ?
From the research I’ve done, it seems possible however very unlikely that RU should reach heart cells. However, since the half life of RU is pretty short, if you experience such side effects you can discontinue the application without needing to worry too much
What about castratos who have practically zero androgens their entire lives? They put live everyone
Hey Kevin is it safe to use oral dutasteride and RU at the same time?
Yes, I do it because blocking dht alone isn't enough.
If you started balding before 17 chances are your hair is also sensible to testosterone.
Once you hit puberty, its fucked

Thanks for this vid. I've been thinking about starting RU. Is it necessary to take finasteride alongside, or is RU enough? I will also be on a test blast.
RU in my research subject is sufficient as a stand alone anti-androgen in my opinion and can be used as a replacement for finasteride.
@@haircafekevin Thank you Kevin, for all of the videos and info you upload. You look great!

@@lynxpointlizard Thanks bud! And personally I prefer finasteride over RU because of its convenience. I can just take it like an aspirin and forget about it.

What could I use to thicken hair besides fin and minoxidil? I've been using both for over a year, but need something additional
Serioxyl stemoxydine or alfatradiol. Also you could upgrade to dutasteride.
Can someone tell me where they buy RU thats a legitimate source?
There is also links of RU58841 to blood cancer, what are your thoughts on that?
Not enough evidence on that for me to be convinced. Mechanistic data is mostly useless other than just for establishing a hypothesis. Unless it can be demonstrated in clinical trials on actual human beings and not lab rats the I do not hold much faith in it.
Hello, what t shirt is that? It looks beautiful.
Hey man. What do you think about prp injections? Are they even effective? They are actually cheap in my country, so i think to try them. I’m using finasteride already.

Too little evidence for now.
I wear a hair system but I want to rub RU on my temple points and sides to prevent further recession and thinning. Would this work?
For the temples, if there is still some hair there then yes.
For the hair on the side of your head, it won't matter. That's the Hippocratic wreath which is DHT resistant and hence used as a donor area for transplants.
@@haircafekevin The sides don't go completely but they do thin in balding men. So maybe they have a *minute* DHT sensitivity, just nowhere near as much as the top hair does? What do you think?
How do you explain Brian fog associate with finasteride?! It seems as if DHT has a bigger role than you stated.
MIRIN GAINES wait a minute.. I didn’t sign up to finasteride for some random Brian to come round
It isn't because of the DHT, it's because of neuro steroids which finasteride can indirectly suppress which causes some people to get brain fog.
Will RU inhibit future beard gains made with minoxidil? Is RU that strong it will inhibit androgens on the face?

Stop propecia and keep minoxidil. Only start propecia when you're 21 just to be safe. At 18 your body most likely has not fully developed and needs DHT for proper development

Three Questions:
1. How much should I use a day? (times per day, percent)
2. How do I make the solution?
3. Where do I buy it?
20mg of it daily is enough to see results. Research has shown that 75-150mg of CB-03-01 daily can yield results, and this anti-androgen drug is 40 times LESS powerful than RU58851. With RU a much smaller dosage can be enough. At 5% strength you can use 0.5mL of the liquid to get 0.25mg of RU, you can divide that dosage into two separate ones to take twice a day, so applying 0.25mL of the liquid every 10 hours so. You don't have to make the solution yourself as you can get it pre-made, the KB solution is better according to anecdotals (although a few bucks more expensive). Where to buy it? I'm not saying the name of the website just so you don't think I'm advertising something, but vendors for this chemical are very few, only 2 or 3 websites sell it. Just google it.
Take caution and do your research before you decide to take it.
Kevin, how many days does RU can last if I mix it with minoxidil then put it on fridge?

Yeah, clascoterone is similar but it actually passed phase III clinical trials so it has a better safety profile, I'd trust that. If you're going to cycle you probably should add in a topical anti-androgen on top of the fin+minox stack.

I've noticed an improvement with my acne while being on finasteride. Is this normal?
Yes. Finasteride blocks DHT production. DHT causes acne. Some modern acne treatments are centred upon reducing DHT on the skin
Varies for people but often when the drug has been used for an extended period your hormones balance and improve.
If I use RU then get a transplant down the line I know that I’ll have to discontinue use for some time so I should expect all my hairs that have been preserved to fall? So would there be a point getting one
No, you won't have to stop that long, only a few weeks at most. Anything you lose in that short term you can get back.

Kevin, for mild Alopecia areata, will fin and min work? Is there an ideal topical for alopecia areata?
Also, if I get a transplant for the affected area, what's the risk of another AA attack?
Finasteride won't since that specifically treats androgenic alopecia. Minoxidil might though since it is a non specific hair growth agonist. Alopecia areata is pretty rare though. I've seen people who think they have it when it is really just androgenic alopecia so make sure a dermatologist confirms the diagnosis.
@@haircafekevin Got it. Many thanks. I had a transplant surgeon actually do a free consultation and he said the same thing. He said areata is rare and androgenic alopecia is often mistaken as other issues.

It's hard to say, depends on the individual but using RU would certainly be better than doing nothing. Deca without fin is pretty harmless on the scalp so it would depend on how much test you are using.
RU has a short half life, just a few hours I believe but it outright kills androgens on the scalp so it can be used just once daily or even every other day.
Stacking test with deca is a must so RU is a good alternative to finasteride in this case.

Assuming most people wait until some of these new drugs are FDA approved, are any of the other topicals like (Redensyl,Procapil, Capixyl) worth using in the mean time as an adjunct to topical minoxidil and topical/oral finasteride? There is some initial evidence of effectiveness for a combination of those 3 compared to topical Minoxidil results but I haven’t seen a study reproduce the results.
It couldn't hurt, I find stemoxydine works well as an adjunct growth stimulant to minoxidil since it works differently but there is definitely no growth stimulant I would replace with minox.
I’ve never seen any good review for Redensyl growing hair and believe me I’ve looked, not counting the reviews of companies selling the product because those are always fake
Does hair blowing your hair with cold air before applying RU58841 interrupt the absorption??
Hi Kevin, Im 22 yrs old and a 3 vertex. I've been using fin since march 12th and have been shedding even more which I've read also can be normal. I understand that fin doesn't takeaway all dht on the scalp and testosterone on the scalp also causes hair loss. I haven't had any side effects thankfully. Whats your take on taking fin and RU58841 at the same time? Thanks Kevin
I think that you should hold off and be very patient. Let the finasteride do its job, then asses your hair at the year mark and even the two year mark. It took a good two years before I truly saw the progress from finasteride. That's the not case for everyone. The goal to keep in mind is minimal effect dose. Add things on one at a time so that you're getting the results you're looking for using the least amount of drugs possible. At the two year mark I added minoxidil to my hairline and at the 6 month mark in already making more progress. If it ever stops working then I'll asses and an anti androgen like topical finasteride or maybe something herbal that has shown to help. I.e. saw palmetto. I wouldn't use ru until a last ditch effort.
@@johncole4882 yeah, I think its a little understated how long it actually takes for finasteride to work, I didnt start noticing real results until about a year into it. People talk about like 3-6 months in you should see results, I guess everyone is different.

There is no data sadly. Clinical trials on RU were abandoned so most of the data we have to go on is anecdotal. RU nightly for about 5-6 months and I derma roll once a week and skip topicals that day and sometimes the day after. Ketoconozole 2% shampoo every 3 days or so. Also worth mentioning I quit minox cold turkey about 8 months in and didn’t shed that bad.
I buy premixed from anagenic. Really want to start mixing my own soon but haven’t pulled the plug on it yet. Nice that you switched to dut after a year, really considering making the switch. Got a bunch of it sitting in my bathroom that I’m too scared to take aha. Any sides? I never have any from fin 2mg a day so I’d expect not to get any but I know it’s much stronger.
Hard to say how helpful it has been because of other factors. I think the combination of fin + ru works better than either by themselves. My hairline is not amazing but compared to pictures I took a year ago it’s 10x better. Still receded but much thicker than it was headed. Will probably switch to dut after a year and give it a try for at least 6 months or so.
Any side effects from the RU and do think it’s safe for long term use, I don’t want to kill my research subject. Thanks
Hi Kevin.
Due to side effects of 10,5 months use of Finasteride (Gyno), I decided to transfer to RU 58841. I ordered 2 bottles of 5% solution and plan to start this week.
1. Is there anything in particular that I should be aware of while using RU, and are there any precautions or protection against development of androgen deficiency side effects or cardiovascular issues ?
2. I have diffuse thinning, so I wonder If you can share your experience about the proper dosage of RU per day? Would 1 ml per day be sufficient against AA?
Thank you for the reply and keep up the good work.
Andrej
@@michaels999 Hello. I have been using RU 58841 on my research subject for almost three and a half months. Two weeks after the introduction of the treatment, I noticed an increased shedding, which lasted for almost 2 months with great intensity. I am now in a state of plateau (without significant loss), and the condition is slowly normalizing. Without visible hair thickening effects so far (Prior to the end of the first six months it would be too early to give an assessment). The strength I use on my research subject varies from 5% solution to 8% solution (the raw powder is mixed with ethanol-PG). No side effects so far. I hope that this info will be helpful.
@OMENITOLDYOU Hello, and thanks for sharing. Any assessment of the efficacy of MPB prevention medication before the expiration of the first 6 months of introduction of the treatment would be premature. From my previous experience in the last 19 years using a variety of medications for prevention of MPB, I can confirm that the use of each drug (minoxidil, finasteride, ketoconazole, saw palmetto etc.) has a different effect on each individual. Since I'm not a doctor, I wouldn't allow myself the luxury of making an unsubstantiated claim as to why RU in your case caused side effects in such a short period of time. Taking into account the experience of many users, though it is an experimental substance, in small doses RU has a pretty solid efficiency/side effect free ratio. Relating to your question, the shedding after introducing RU amounted to 30-40 hairs per day over a period of nearly 2 months.
Hey Kevin, i know you’re not a doctor. My wife got pregnant while I am on finasteride. I only take finasteride twice weekly, but I believe I took one the day she got conceived, what’s your opinion on this? Should I ask the doctor?
Congratulations Jay. I often worry about this as well but from what I've read it's just a precaution. I hope all is well with the baby?
Is it possible to be a non-responder to RU? I used it for over 3 months with no noticeable positive effect. It's legit product too.
I think in the clinical trials there were some who were non responders.
@OMENITOLDYOU perhaps but baldness doesnt normally progress slowly over time. It can come in periodically.
Kevin do u think finasteride can restore receding hairline ? I feels it only stops hair loss
About 33 percent of people get some regrowth from finasteride but I wouldn't expect any miracles like regaining a norwood. I got some regrowth but it was in the areas where I still had hair and the hairline is the area of the scalp which for most people is most sensitive to androgens hence why it goes away first usually.
I would get on finasteride to stop any further loss and then save up for an FUE. An FUE is easily the best decision I have made in my hair loss journey. I went from a Norwood 4 to maybe a Norwood 2 at the very worst.
Am on finas + minox , and thinking going your path of having an fue to restore the hairline but at the same time afraid of the shock loss situation of my existing hair i don’t want them to thin
@@ricoawar4290 Shock loss is rare and even if it happens its temporary, I wouldn't worry much.
What do you use or recommend for washing your hair in the shower consistently? I use ketoconazole shampoo right now, but I hear it can fry your hair.
Mix some jojoba oil with the ketoconazole shampoo or use it afterwards as a conditioner, it helps counter the dryness.
I'll use a generic variation of head and shoulders typically as my regular shampoo or a coal-tar shampoo every now and then.
Thanks for the videos dude. Can I ask what your current regime is and did you stop taking dutasteride?
I've been on finasteride for 3 months, no sides effects but not much change either. Looking to test out dutasteride.
Thanks
No problem, thanks for watching.
Right now I am just taking finasteride and minoxidil while occasionally using alfatradiol. I have stemoxydine I might cycle in early next year as well to see if I can get any additional regrowth.
I don't take dutasteride although I felt it worked well enough albeit not noticeably any better than finasteride in my case, I just didn't like that is a softgel because I'm vegan.
@@haircafekevin Thanks for the reply! I'm going to go pharmacy today and pick up some dutasteride and give it a try. Did you cycle it with finasteride or just take it individually?
One last thing did you notice any additional shedding switching both to and back.
Thanks
@@themetamind9305 No problem. I used it individually and took it with finasteride daily for several months.
I didn't get any shedding but that's likely because the mechanism of action of the two drugs is similar enough.
Great info as always - very reassuring to know the best facts available, plus informed opinion to put them into perspective.
