One question: What are those hardware interface numbers 64 and 65?...how are they different from port numbers?
I have used other brands of PLC and I have never come across such things for Modbus communication.
The "Hardware identifier" allows the program or function block to operate the specific hardware resources. Especially, if there are couples of ethernet ports in this system, example, S7-1516 has two physical cards builtin, also the 'CP' module。 So using this number we know which hardware we are using. regarding the '65' at S7-1200, I am also curious that, probably the 65 would be used for another additional diagnosis.

If you have some 'data' in the garage, then the garage is the server (passive), and you are the client (active)

Your measurements instrument is the modbussever, PLC is the Client.

How would you read a physical input (1) and write a physical coil (2)?
It just needs very simple ladder logic to transfer Ix.x to DBx.DBx x.x or from DBx.DBX x.x to Qx.x
i am using simulation mode of PLC. Modscan is not working??
