I listened a couple of times, even on the spot, from my phone! 😊 Thank you very much! 😊😊😊 The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo definitely worth seeing! For me it was the best part, beyond seeing the precious original artworks it helped me to organize all the information gathered during the visit. For those who haven't been there yet don't miss it. I appreciate the energy you put in making these kind of videos. 👍

I love Florence very much too. Piazza del Duomo and Ponte Vechio were for me the highlights. I captured the wonderful moments too and published it on my UA-cam channel too. I can highly recommend to visit Florence. Wish I saw this video before my visit. :)
I lived in a pensione in 1962 approx was in third grade lived couple blocks from duomo back then kids could walk around ride bikes I walked to school Florence was my playground thank you for your video Andy merry Christmas 🐱🌹🌷🌈🌞
I’m here in Italy now and the line to get to each entrance is sooo long but I am beyond excited! The photos and my camera video will never do the artist justice
@@AndysAwesomeAdventures I am a history and science nerd and although there is more to Italy (food, culture, clothing, shopping etc) that is awesome but I am in awe and can just live in this church for days just gawking, towards the end of the week I'll be in rome and I can't wait to hit up the museums there! Man I'm so excited almost to the front of the line, I waited in line to realize I had to get in the ticket purchasing line first then to get in line at the church but this church is so massive I don't mind the wait

The nave is surprisingly plain. Very much in contrast with the rich opulence of Rome's major Baroque churches. Examples: San Giovanni in Laterano, Sant' Andrea della Valle, Sant' Ignazio, Sant Maria Maggiore and Il Gesu.
Totally agree. When you see the exquisite, opulent exterior, you assume the interior will also be opulent, but it's not. The exterior is the star of the show.
First, I would say buy your tickets in advance. Second, the summer is going to have the longest lines, so avoid the summer if possible. We went in May-beautiful weather, and while there were lines, I'm sure they're worse in the summer.
@@AndysAwesomeAdventures Excellent advice. We are thinking a 3 month stay nearby, to explore Tuscany and Italy in general. It will be our 1st trip to Europe. Aussies.

Hi Jaime. Thank you so much for watching my videos! As you know, I love history as well so it's great when like-minded people watch my videos. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the scaffolding issue. I Googled a few things but didn't find anything. I guess you could contact the Duomo on their website and maybe they would know. I hate it when I go to a famous landmark and there's scaffolding because it does kind of ruin photos and filming (this has happened to me at Angkor Wat and more recently, Big Ben). Of course, if there is scaffolding, it means they are making necessary repairs and restoration so it's hard to complain about that. I really hope that by the time you go, the scaffolding is gone. Have a great trip!
any infomation on the interior of the dome? eg the materials used, any specific furniture, lighting, types of windows and paitings or how the ceiling looks etc
Good overall video but some very wrong info, the renaissance officially goes from 1400 to 1600 but to be more specific, it can be argued that it only begins in 1453 when Constantinople falls .
Many sources say the Renaissance began in the 14th century so perhaps it was very late 14th century, but some sources do say it began in the early 14th century. However, it does seem like it ended around 1600 or in the late 16th century.
@@AndysAwesomeAdventures well you are talking about a theory of history called “long renaissance” that takes into account the changes after the crisis of the late middle ages as sufficient for a new period but Giorgio Vasari would argue that the renascita as he called it would only beguin properly at arownd the time of the ottoman conquest due to the spreading of the greek knowledge around the italian cities. Either way you put it, it for sure ends at most in the very early 17th century and truly beguins in the 15th
