Thanks for the review. Craft has superb customer service; sent me another pair after I toasted the first pair. No questions asked. Not the lightest shoe nor the softest but everyone asks me about them!
Great review, as always. Pretty cool design, but I could tell, just looking at the midsole, that it was going to be a firm shoe. I used to ride in firm shoes, but I've since moved to the more squishy side of things. I used to love the NB 1500, and still have a pair, but whenever I go back to them now I'm shocked at how firm they are. That's also too much rubber on the outsole for my liking. I guess I will be skipping these. lol
Great review homie! With all the specs and mannerisms of the shoes, sounds like these would be a great “road to trail” shoe and perfect for urban ultras. Can’t wait to hear the long term review 👍🏽
Interesting carbon shoes. The first edition kind of looked like a zebra pattern. So how do you like these compared to some of your other familiar carbon racers you ran in before like the New Balance RC Elite,Nike Alpha fly, Asics Metaspeed Sky, or Saucony Endorphine Pro and the Adidas one Adios Pro I think it was?..But these color designs look fantastic. Thank you, Kalif🏃🌒
Got my PR in the 100-mile last year in the CTM Ultra Carbon 1 in a non-technical trail race (22:42:20; I am age 58). Plan to use Version 2 for my first 200-miler this November. Best long-haul road-to-trail shoe I’ve tried for distances beyond 100 K. The Version 2 has an even better upper as you point out. I do think the Version 2 is a little narrower in the toe box, however, and had to go up half a size for ultra-racing.
Bravo Troy on your PR from your fellow 58 ( I am training for my first 100k ) . How was your 200 mile ( wow ) race last month? I have a pair of CTM Ultra 2 , but the grip , while not bad at all, is not as good as I expected . All the Best & Happy Running/ Holidays.
@@chocolatechow7697 wish you well with the 100K! Where will it be? Had a great race in the Cowboy 200 and finished 15th overall out of 55 in 71:02:26. Raced the first 125 miles in the Hoka Tecton X; my feet swelled a full size so switched to the NNormal Tomir for the remaining 75. No blisters! Still really enjoy the Craft, particularly the CTM Ultra 2 for road-trail training, and am excited about their line up in ‘23. Godspeed.
@@TrailrunnerTroy Happy New Year Troy. First of all, sorry for my super late reply. My holidays season has been a little bit chaotic. WoW , 15th overall. Many Congrats ! What amazes me is that you have no blister after 200 mile, I wish I could say the same after my first hundred k. I am planning to attend Lake Saroma in Japan for my first 100k. It was cancelled this, i mean last year 2022. The view is great and the event is well organized. That's what I heard. What is more important to me is that since the route is basically running around the lake, I won't get lost ( I am afraid I am worse than Mr K when it comes to direction ) . Being flat is an extra bonus. I shall try to run 70k alone later this month and see how it goes. Happy running, to infinity & beyond !
I am curious about the version without a carbon plate ! Just called the ultra 2, it has same stack has a pebax foam core I think like the vomero? ; have you or other folks tried this shoe ? I think it is available on running warehouse now, having trouble finding any reviews on this shoe. Interested in that one more than the expensive carbon version.
Hi Paul, I ran a 50 mile trail race in the none plated version 1 (which I think is pretty much the same as the v2). No blisters, no missing toenails and legs left good. Brilliant distance running shoe.
I have the 1s and almost exclusively use them for long runs. Doesn’t matter how fast. But you can reaaaaaally Hammer in those. And up to moderately technical terrain they work perfectly. Will by the 2s as soon as my 1s are done.
You think this would be a good option to race the Tunnel Light Marathon? Planning to race it in September so looking into that race shoe. I know you ran in Next%, but I’m a heavier runner (180#) so I think I would smash the Next% 2 I already own.
@@tonymacias3263 thanks!! I current own the next % 2 (only 58 miles in them) but still skeptical of putting them through the gravel and decline, since I’m gonna pound on them much!
I think yes as it works well on crushed gravel - can’t collect stones. A little heavy but probably worth it. When I raced that course I wore Newton Distance Elites! Minimalist all the way. And I had no issues at all hitting sub-3 hour.
I ran the Tunnel marathon course back in 2019 in the Brooks Launch6 before the super shoe explosion had reached most runners and it was fine, but a road-to-trail shoe like this would work great as long as it’s comfortable enough for you to do 26.2. I think Ko used the Vaporfly Next% in is and it may have taken a toll on the midsole/outsole but that was back when that shoe had less durability than the current versions. Martha
Really was not impressed by the first edition 😕 Styrofoam feel was a bit tomuch I didn't like the upper and seems they didn't really change that much here
The price in Canadian dollars is 320$!!! A little bit less for the non carbon. Way too much when you can get proven brands for trails like Hola, Salomon and New Balance for almost half the price. All with no carbon plate, but you don't need one when you run a 100k!
I think the question is a bit murky. If you are asking me whether the shoe is good for the intended use, I would say it very much is good for the intended use. If you are asking me whether it is a good daily trainer, I would say probably not (unless you are running primarily on trails), as this shoe is not exactly intended for everyday running Also, I don't like to assign number rankings, as I find they artificially inject a sense of imagined objectivity in a very subjective analysis.
As runners...it is fun to be able to treat ourselves with snappy fun shoes...much less expensive than skiers and some other sports.
Took some time away from mountain bike racing for running. Depending on your training volume and shoe rotation, I’m not sure it’s that much cheaper!
@@jaymueller2418 Depends on where you buy the shoes and timing for deals with proven shoes...that helps~ Your point is well taken!

Almost to 100k subs! Looking for to seeing the big silver play button plaque behind you.
Great looking shoe…the SAYSKY of the shoe world👌
Well said. Design wise I might add that Craft is the Italian cars in the shoe world , looks as if it is moving even when standing still.

We need some quality like the Nike Zoom X invincible Run but if it is too firm is imposible to use/buy. Come with good foam

I wonder... do rockered technologies & trail running mesh? I feel like it makes sense on the road but not sure about uneven terrains

Could you review the Jordan 1 Georgetown 85?
How did you find the sizing did you just get your normal shoe size? Because their website is pretty much saying for me to go a whole size down?
Hey Ko have you thought about doing a roundup video of shoes sent to you that didnt make it to their own video?
Is this or the Atreyu Base Trail more versatile?
Just bought them.
