I've spent TOO MANY weeks/months on this project now, it's time you got to see the beginning of it. I'm making the Next Big Server Network and I'm finna be the next Hypixel... maybe. In this devlog I'll tell you HOW and WHY I'm becoming Mr. spigot plugin development man, and you can watch me slowly descend into madness.

In this beautiful devlog, you'll watch a man do some game design and or game development. Tbh evil bedwars sounds epic, if you can make that work I'm sure many people would be into that it's a great idea
To fix the blood exploit you could do it so you respawn with very low health, this would also penalize any strat wich involves killing yourself
Hmm but that would make you easy to kill of you are shot or something and you wouldn’t be able to do anything
Then people are just gonna spawn kill
You could let them lose max. health instead (e.g. 1heart per death).. So the crystals will become more important too and be tied together with the rest

to fix the blood exploit thing you might want to add a small delay after you die so that you cannot buy blood, but you can do everything else

Second? What's the first?
I feel like, to make things easier on yourself, and to help maintain the evil feeling, you should leave in some bugs and oversights, so that, if you know a lot about the game, you will be very good at it. As long as you consistently add more slightly scuffed features, nobody should be able to develop an unbeatable strategy.
Here’s my suggestions:
1) Limit what can be bought with health. Tools and blocks and such should have a different currency or two. I recommend making only really op items cost health (elytra is a good example)
2) Make health costs (and the item you get) permanent. If it persists through death, you can’t hop in the void to fix your health. This also makes the trade more risky and dangerous, which I feel like blood oaths with a demon should be.
tl;dr,
Blood only buys real op stuff.
Blood trades persist through death.
Solution: completely bind blood to the player's inventory so they cannot drop it or put it in a chest. This fixes the exploit but prevents teamwork regarding resources.
Well if you are making a deal with the devil you sort of have to use YOUR blood so it makes sense
Start with lower health, the adding hearts mechanic looks great!
As for the infinite resources by dying, deaths could cost blood, but if you have too little or none it could reduce your max health instead?
I recently got into learning commands and ive been watching your videos to figure it all out. And was inspired to create a MMORPG SMP server. ALL WITH COMMANDS and a few tricks i learned online. Sadly im on bedrock but its coming along great. So thanks for the inspiration!!!

Also maybe a good idea for the health thing is maybe every time you die you get a debuff, maybe like weakness or slowness or something like that, and you have to kill people to undo the debuff. Sound like a pretty EVIL idea to me :)

Can't wait to play! Sounds really cool. As for the gameplay loop, maybe you change the way you get blood points from smashing your hand into a saw into smashing a small animal into a saw? I can just imagine like a small corral of animals that you have to chase. Maybe even bonus points if you manage to get in a bat or a killer rabbit lol.
Also, maybe you could have different classes that offer players small variations in gameplay? Like you'd have vampires functioning as maybe tanks (consuming blood for hp) or healers (healing people with blood). Werewolves could be some sort of attacker with 1.5x damage dealt and received. Stuff like that with generic ghouls and goblins.
i remember watching your execute tutorials a while back, i got a bit fuzzy as to how to use the commands but i couldnt find your channel cause i forgot the name and just as i had pretty much forgotten about the whole thing GUESS WHO SHOWED UP IN MY RECCOMENDED

Make it where your max health decreases every time you fall into the void, which seems fair because you also have a chance to increase it again with the crystals.
Love the video style but it certainly does seem like a-LOT of work 😂
Game definitely looks interesting! I've been working on a custom map + datapack with some friends (they do the map work, I do the datapack work 😁) and you captured the experience perfectly haha. Hope to see more dev type videos in the future :))
to combat the blood currency thing you could try to make it so once a player reaches half a heart they can't farm blood again until a minute or so later

Could you add a bad enchanter where the players can add curses to random enemies armor or tools? I think that would really fit in this evil themed bedwars

Maybe instead of sidebar use unicode images on the resource pack and the title action bar or bossbar for display? Resource pack wizardry is my obsession
If people can jump to the top of the shrine using the open hole inside, you can fill it with invisible barrier blocks! I'm pretty sure you can get them through regular commands. Also, maybe every time you fall in the void, you lose a heart so you start having less and less health if you abuse the system.
Nice. I like it a lot. Keep up the work. I am looking forward to playing on that soon. It looks quite interesting as an idea.

This video is like really old now but I’ve got a lot a ideas to fix the exploits and balance the game. In order to get blood you should have to damage other players (prices can be increased or decreased as needed) and for the hp sacrifices you should either start the game with less hp, or what I think is the better option, being to increase the prices. Can’t wait to see the server!

you can make the health drain permanent like you did with buying items. also. make starting health 5 hearts instead of 10 to make it riskier to buy anything at first, and to make it harder to exploit the blood thing
Maybe to fix your blood exploit thing you could make the respawn timer longer if you died within X seconds of respawning or using the saw
i have a suggestion: every time you die you are forced to stare at a very large arrangement of legitimouse shaped particles.
for the Blood fix, maybe doing a cookie-clicker mechanism where you just buy farmers that hurt themselves on their own (you would have to make the islands much farther like in old school bed wars)
maybe the blood could be an "insta heal" method, you right click blood and you gain the exact amount of health you just lost
you could even make different type of blood, pure, impure... that could be used in different shop and would be randomly chosen
and ofc the sudden death would be an enderdragon + a wither attacking everyone on sight with everyone having glowing effect
maybe to fix the rush problems, you could make it so that you would have to wait a certain amount of time before you can buy that stuff

The fix could be like - if the player used the saw or have been damaged they cant fell over the void until the hearth get back to full

Maybe instead of using the player's health as blood, you could have a separate blood meter that refills gradually over time and isn't affected by the player dying. This could put sort of a cap on how many things players could buy at a time and make the more expensive items more of a risk reward type of thing, since you lose them on death but don't get the resource to re purchase them immediately.
And for the crystals, instead of a potion effect they could increase the rate at which your blood "regenerates", either by mining it or maybe just standing near it gives increased blood regen.
What if every time someone spends hp to get blood, they loose an actual heart space, so when they die they don’t get it back. For instance you start out with ten hearts, and then when you spend one you get blood. Then you only have nine hearts and even when you die and respawn you only have nine hearts. To get hearts back you can break the crystals on the corners of the map (if those still exist).

Blood regenerates with player kills, or possibly just regenerates really slowly after you respawn
You could make it so that you have very low health at the start but you can buy more health with a different currency
Maybe do a mechanic where every player kill you get you obtain a organ/skull/heart that you can you on the saw to get additional bloodpoints 🤔
to fix the infinite blood currency I would suggest a heart cap instead of just loosing health.
idea for your shop problems make it so you spawn with half a heart and you just have regen 1 effect for the intire game

suggestions for the blood mechanic:
1: have the blood be counted as a scoreboard value, decreasing when you die
2: don't let people store blood in chests

solution to the exploit is to raise prices for better items and 2 every time you die you respawn with the same amount of health as when you turned into the blood currency thing and to regain health there are regenerative pools sprinkled around the map that let you regenerate

you could make it so killing your self doesn't Regen health and add upgrades to Regen health faster

Also I never knew about kotlin and I've always enjoyed java despite the copy pasting. Maybe cuz it's the only language I know outside of Pascal. But I might give kotlin a shot and if it is better than java then thanks a ton man

Starting max HP = 8 (4 hearts)
A new Sharp flint
is a flint, but with sharpness
(cheaper than most weapons, obtainable early, double damage/half the health)
When damaging a enemy player the attacked enemy gets blood
all blood in the inventory drops on death, 5 extra blood drops if killed by a player
(this blood does not coagulate)
Get an extra half a hearth When Killing a player for the First time
If Blood from a player is on the ground or in a chest when he dies, it has 50% chance to become coagulated blood
5 coagulated blood -> 1 blood
simple answer to your problems = scoreboards

Rather then starting with 20 health you should get health from the generators similarly to how iron and gold work in hypixel and get max health from the crystals which would act similarly to how diamonds and emeralds act in hypixel how much max health you spawn with could be balanced as the game goes on
I'm actually so excited for this! Especially the fact that it will be 1.9+ PvP, because for now the only good 1.16 PvP Bedwars server I know is CyloneMC and I also think the only servers that could beat Hypixel would either be Dream's or MrBeast's server OR a 1.9+ server

Wouldn't the health exploit be fixed if respawning required blood? You could also make the player not regenerate to full health when falling into the void, and instead stay on whatever they had previously been/regenerate as much as had been invested in advance

I’ve set up an Ubuntu server on Binero and installed paper and a hell lot of plugins on it and successfully created a minecraft server - on a server that is meant for real stuff… like websites… you know…. a raspberry pi also works ngl.
