    Nash has given interviews where he talks about how he hated the "Old-School" guys of his day like Bill watts for ideas stuck in the past, for going about old glories years gone by, and not appreciating wrestling talent in the context of the present time. And now, he's the guy bad-mouthing and an instant main-eventer on 3 continents and someone every wrestling fan on Earth knows because of some nearly 30 year old t-shirt sales. Brutal irony. Foley offers his usual dignified take, but Ospreay is without a doubt a critical and commercial talent who won't even be 30 till 2023.

      Will Overspray appeals to those with a short attention span. He’s good at remembering a lengthy series of choreographed moves. If his dance partner falters and misses his moves, can Will regain control? Not from what I’ve seen.

      One thing about Nash that he will now freely admit is his agreement with Old School guys’ insistence on ring psychology and having a story to tell. Lazy in the ring? Absolutely. But understanding he’s supposed to work like a giant and that’s exactly what he did. At the end of the day he’s going to keep getting regular checks on something he did 30 years ago that are probably more than Osprey will ever make. “The only things real in this business are the money and the miles.”

    Ospreay has only been featured on US TV three times. Had he signed a WWE when Heyman offered him one then Ospreay would be "drawing money" in the US. The structure that exists to make money off the backs of talent is completely different in NJPW versus a WWE talent which even then Ospreay is bigger drawer than half the WWE roster.

    Kevin Nash can’t be mentioned in any conversation of any list that pretends to any ranking of actual mat talent that includes Will Osprey. He also couldn’t draw a merchandising dime outside of the NWO. Nash always has and always will be a second fiddler riding a bigger star’s coattails. And I’m not mad at that - as long as you acknowledge and admit it. Big Slowsky doesn’t. He really thinks he was a moving force in an industry in which he could barely move. He’s privilege personified: he aint earned or merited his position; he’s just latched on to the folk that have. “How’s your merchandise sales.” How’s your relevance outside of UA-cam?

      If you think Nash wasn’t a mover and a shaker during his WCW/NWO days then you’re either too young and missed it or you’re completely ignoring it.

      @@codemonkey4509 if by “mover and shaker” you mean backstage politicer who only moved a needle when Hogan showed up, then yes. And why do people always play the young card? First, I’m grown. Second, she don’t automatically equate knowledge, let alone wisdom. I lived it, watched it, and can admit what actually happened.

      I’m going to guess you’re one of today’s smarter, more sophisticated fans; maybe even what the kids call a hardcore fan. Problem with those is they’re not nearly as smart as they think and were tiny or not even born during the Monday Night War and consider the Attitude Era to be 100% gold.

    • @Funkshyn
      @Funkshyn Рік тому

      @@ithinkaboutthings9052 well, you’d be wrong on almost all accounts save that yes, I do believe the Attitude Era is one of the best to ever touch the business. Yes, WCW dominated for 83 weeks, but everybody on top during that domination ended up working for the company that beat them and then bought them out. The AE produced more crossover stars than any before or since, engaging lay fandom at near unprecedented levels. Was it perfect? Of course not. No era nor any company have been. But by dint of sheer numbers, not even to touch broader cultural impact, it cannot be touched. And if we wanna stick to specifics, Diesel’s run with the belt was demonstrably one of the worst periods the business ever endured. THAT’S the guy y’all are marking out over? Seriously? On purpose?
