The GS is a hidden under appreciated gem. I’ve been riding in mine since fresh outta high school, I still haven’t boosted it yet, I have an SC too, timeless look, bulletproof as they come. Just have to look out for the lower ball joints as they snap if they’re old, go with oem or saneki555 only for replacement. That’s the weakest point of the car. The door actuators are very common too. The car is getting old now so the brake master cylinder have been prone to starting to have issues. Unfortunately the vvti 2jz have thin rods so you can’t boost it over 400+ without opening up the engine and changing the pistons and rods but the non vvti is the same as the gte and you push 800whp just change the headgasket and head studs. The 1uz/3uz 400 430s are legendary too. They’re getting the respect and appreciation in the recent years
Just bought one of these with 300k on the odo and she runs like a dream. A few seals here and there need changing as the previous owner didn't take much care of her but she run like new
I have been owning 2005 GS 300 since 2019. Trouble free car compare to all BMW's I had in the past. Easy to work on, just did timing belt and cam seals my self. Mega comfortable car with excellent built quality and Always cold blowing A/C👍
Two things I don’t like since owning new. Brake master cylinder issue at around 100k miles that almost made me scrap the car and weak jacking points that cannot support weight of its own which are not easily repairable Otherwise built as tough as any other Toyota
Just replaced mine in my 400, parts and labor a $1k. Mine made it to 167k miles. Got it fixed. Now in the body shop getting all new paint. Nothing like triple black!!!
wow that is a clean car. mine is approaching 250K miles (2003). going to need to do an engine rebuild soon, oil leaks , lots to fix but its been a great car. I love not having had a car payment since 2007
@@PerformanceOnWheels yeah brother I really enjoy driving the car. Some things just plain wore out on it. Example: passenger side ball joint fell apart send wheel and tire under the car. The fans completely fell apart, but the important stuff like tranny and engine doing great
Just picked up my second GS 400 with 100k miles. These cars are solid. I agree that the gap between the fenders and tire vertically and horizontally is a looks-killer for this car, to the point where you kind of need to change the wheels to make it look better haha.
Bought 1999 Lexus GS 300 with 270000 km on it Everything is amazing on this car better than my 2016 ford escape and compatible to my 2019 RAV4 No rust at all Thanks for the video you got new subscriber
This is my daily driver. It’s a high quality & very comfortable car. It’s basically a 2003 Japanese BMW. Keep it stock & maintained and you’ll get to 500k miles easy.
Manual swapped and boosted GS400 here. Working on LSD episodes now. Problem areas are generally BMC and LBJs. Aside from that, pretty solid platforms to build, albeit expensive. Thumbs up from me!
ForwardMomentum, love your content. Been watching for years. Owned a gs300, gs430, now a ls430. Learned so much from your videos. Awesome to see you commenting here.
Bro 2k?? 125k miles??!!!! You better take GOOOD care of that man that car will outlast you. I’ve got one with 260k and had the top end refreshed, runs like a brand new car if not better.
I sold it for another Lexus! Check out my channel for the LS460L that replaced it I sold it to a guy who is extremely passionate about these cars. He’s put a ton of time and effort into making it even more clean so I might feature it on the channel again soon!
You can’t turbo a stock 2JZ GE vvti to 500 wheel hp. The vvti GE engine rods will bend or break they are extremely weak. You need the GTE rods to make 500 plus hp in that engine. Or better yet a GTE engine to swap into a GS 300. The GTE engine have a better head and cooling than the GE 2JZ head.
Same by name all clapped out I bought one from a family friend he was the original owner only 150k miles bought in 98 I’ve wanted one since 2015 when Haggard Garage got one an turned down 2 since than an even turned this one down last September but in January my daily broke down an I took it as a sign I helped the guy get the title from the Lexus dealer bc he paid it off Toyota finance an never got the title lol an on Feb 1 I got it… I had to do Valve cov gask, fix AC, plugs, trans fluid change, intake manifold gasket, front brakes with Toyota parts, rear caliper…. an took it on a 2000 mile road trip down the blue ridge pkwy over Memorial Day weekend this year it performed flawless I love it an just got it back from the shop yesterday a Lexus specialist did the Cam Seals, Vvti Rebuild, front main seal, timing tensioner, water pump, coolant flush, timing belt valve cover gaskets again, an only for $2200 which is why I had them do it instead of me plus I didn’t have the time bc it was pissing oil… Now he is on Vacation and is coming back August 24th an I’m bringing it back to him on 26th for diag a brake problem with the Brake Booster ABS Module I couldn’t figure out Toyota couldn’t either he thinks could be a broken wire somewhere so we’ll see I hope so bc I spent $6000 on the car an repairs so far majority of them done myself too an ABS module will be another $2500 but I’ll be glad all the common failures on these cars will be brand new an it only has 160k miles now since I drove a lot since I bought it so i plan on dailying it the next 10-15 years I bought it instead of a new car to save money up some more an when either a trans or the motor dies I’m going to buy a 4 Runner or Sequoia to make a offroad rigg than gte swap this gs
GS is a forgotten Gem. Can't wait to see what you guys do to it.

From the PFP I'm assuming you bought one bro?
Well?
Love mine. Have been owning my ‘05 since 2010. Currently at 265k miles and I can go anywhere.

Proud Lexus owner here! and I can say that nothing beats the quality build and long term performance of my 2005 ES330!!! Amazing
Iconic motor with great sound, power, reliability. Great looking car luxury leather wood grain. Family or sport. All around awesome car. Build it.
Ugly ass car tho
Love the GS content :) i hope to see some more!
Share it around! We will need some more people to tune in to keep producing it!!!

Got my 98 GS 300 with only 60550kms 2 years ago. Drives like new and much cheaper than a recent model Corolla! 😎
Higher quality interior than a new corolla as well!

Mine came with factory HIDs. Pros are they look good at night, Cons are replacing them aren’t easy.
i just got a 2004 Lexus GS300 with 182,000 miles for 3k, Love it
I have the same color GS with stock chrome rims. In 2021 i had a maintenance job where i would take the best 1 hr naps in the front seat lol
Just got an 02 GS yesterday aside from struts car is clean AF

Drunk driver crashed into mine, i wouldn't have sold that car.

So is 186k miles for a 2000 ls 300 with 2jz engine good? Or bad
Not terrible
keep it
what’s the mpg?
Not great.. and premium only

If u can find a gs400 with the 1uzfe v8 even more reliable than a 2j and more power
GSs around me are way over priced. GS 400s are all clapped out. And there's one 1999 GS 300 with 85K miles for $9600.
