1991 Chevy S10 Walk Around

- Recently my parents moved out of state and that may seem unrelated, but I used to work out of my dad's workshop and use his truck to pick up supplies. My dad is very generous and gave many of his large tools to me, even though I have a tiny garage, I'm trying to make it work and I'm very grateful to have these tools at my disposal. But I was also worried about transporting goods, especially sheet goods home for projects. And so began the hunt for a budget truck. I perused local ads for quite a while and found this truck for $1400! Is that a good deal? I don't know, only time will tell, but I will tell you it was pretty difficult to find any truck that ran and drove for less than $2000. Lets just hope she's not a lemon!
It looks like it will be a good truck, looks like the carb might need to be cleaned out, might be good to do a full tune up honestly. im sure you can find a doner truck at some junk yards for it.
Yeah I'm gonna do a full tune up. Hope to get it in tip top shape. Just hope I can figure out what I'm doing! Haha
4:15 the idle isn’t rough it’s a 350 cid without 2 cylinders. Same bore and stroke. They put a balance shaft in it in 1993.
2.5 liter 4 cylinder is great also. Never the 2.8 v6
Im looking at the same truck he says it runs but the outside paint is just horrible. I don’t mind the look I just want it to run and fix it myself it has 211,000 miles. Would this be worth for $1500? I plan on paying 1k at most just want an opinion thanks!
Honestly I'm very inexperienced with these trucks. But I definitely wouldn't pay more than 1k and try to get it for less if you can
I'd add a half quart of lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer to the oil it will quiet it down and take care of the black smoke
What's the black smoke about, my s10 has it when I Rev it when parked, puff of smoke comes out, but I do have a bad intake gasket so I could have a bad vacuum leak from the intake?
Just for the record my s10 is a 2.8 v6 1989

I'm having such a hard time finding this truck. The 91 s10 is literally all I want! It's been pretty elusive so far.. any tips on where to look?
Where I live we have a local news app where everyone lists their classifieds. It's a really great source in Utah, but outside Utah I'd imagine your best bet is Facebook marketplace and maybe craigslist? Do people still use craigslist?

I must have the only first generation S-10 in the world with ZERO rust. It's a 1993, AZ truck, I bought it new, it has been garaged all its life, and only has 27,000 miles on it. It has a 2.8L/5 speed, but that's about to change. I'm building a carbureted 383ci V8 for it right now. It's also getting a Muncie 4 speed from 1969, and an 8.8 Ford Trak-Loc rear axle.
