  • After the Home Wrap and windows are installed Its time to get the trim and Z bar installed. The trim is going along the corners, on the lower edge, around the windows and doors and lastly under the eves to hide the gap between the soffit and wall. I am using a product called Miratec trim. This product is easy to cut and does not rot as easily as wood. It comes in many sizes. The Z bar is a metal channel designed to take water away from the trim.

Nice work with the trim and Z flashing. Hammer and Nail Hack: if you hold the nail with your palm toward you and the nail between your fingers, your hammer strikes are aimed at the soft pads of the fingers and receive less damage from an "OOPS" than hitting the sides or flats of the fingernails.

Good tip on holding the nail. I only had a couple smashed fingers in this build. The worst injury so far was the Impact driver slipping off the screw and into my thumb. That took around 3 weeks to heal.

How crucial is it to getting the screw heads flush with the flange? My screws were stripping through some of the flange openings so I didn’t drive them as deep and some are protruding about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. Is that going to mess up my trim installation?
