      Yes, goalies can use HS Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles, but we recommend goalie pad sleeves for sliding back and forth in the net. www.hockeyshot.com/Leg-Pad-Sleeves-for-G1-Extreme-Slide-Board-p/slide-board-006.htm

    • @leangroundbeef2322
      @leangroundbeef2322 6 років тому +8

      I have my doubts. Goalies are notorious for the amount of ice they can chew through as their surface area is quite small compared to the rest of the ice. My guess is that the tiles would begin to show lots and lots of wear and tear after even a couple sessions with a decent amount of work put in. That's just my best guess though.

      You guys are talking about price, the size of playing area and for something that will never melt, you are actually complaining about price point? For someone thats gonna constantly play and practice, its very affordable. But then I'm use to price being a goalie and having easily 3Gs wrapped up in gear alone.

    Thanks again My friends ,The game needs more people like you . I have taken mini mites and mites ( 5-8 years old) to the hockey Academy which they have synthetic Hockey rinks . This stuff works great for little kids it's not as slippery ,They can learn how to shoot a Puck ,Stick handle, toe drag ,Under the stick move. They will not lose balance so you can teach proper technique in all these and many more . This stuff builds great leg muscles also ,After one season most of the 8 year old had a hockey butt, Their moms asked me what I did to their kids why are their butts coming out of their lower backs. Lmbo, I told The moms that's called a Hockey butt, I pulled my jacket up and walked away, then they all started laughing .
    Much love and respect , To all hockey families

    *$5000. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOooooooooLLLLLLLLLLolOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL. Way too expensive. If this is better for kids, that's even more ridiculous convincing any parent to spend that kind of money for a child. Great idea but way over priced. It's a shame, cause if this was more reasonably priced, it could make a huge impact to the world of hockey and for kids who don't have the opportunity to always go out on the ice to play and practice.*

    Cool. Training tool for U12. The big difference to me between this and roller is the movement of the puck. Any summer off ice training that imitates the movements of skating is valuable. Wish this was around for my Mini Mites Clinics! Anyone remember GLICE ?

    Did you have any issues with catching an edge where the tiles connect to each other or the tiles shifting a tiny bit so that some ended up higher than others? That was a problem our club had when we tried out synthetic ice two years ago here in Germany. I think synthetic ice is a great training tool in the summer, and this looks affordable, but those problems kind of scared me off.

    These would be a great investment for a community who doesn't get snow or hockey weather. Make a year round community outdoor synthetic ice rink to at least have. I know it's not as great as regular ice but if you had a Sharpener on site and extras to replace them as they go out, could be worth looking into. Just an idea. Great video!

      Ruin the skates, or dull the blades? Are you asking if it is actually bad for the skates, or if it just dulls the blades faster than normal ice?

    • @MyName_Jeff
      @MyName_Jeff 6 років тому +4

      Domster13 Gaming and other cook stuff It's not gonna ruin your skates, it'll make them dull tho. Your blades would probably take more abuse from a pond.

    • @HockeyShot1
      @HockeyShot1 6 років тому +14

      Nope! They will not damage your blades at all.The 10% friction difference means you will need to sharpen more often than skating on real ice. We also recommend using a lesser pair of skates for the Tiles & saving your best skates for on the ice.

    • @youngsyr
      @youngsyr 6 років тому +1

      Thanks for adding your experience. They certainly looked slow on the video too. Have you thought about using a silicone spray to improve glide? I know some of the early "skateable" plastics added a spray coating to the tiles periodically to improve glide, so I wonder if that would help?
      Would be interested in hearing your feedback if you do try it!

    • @aaronwhite1786
      @aaronwhite1786 6 років тому +2

      If I had to guess, I would think that spraying on the tiles themselves probably wouldn't do a lot for the skates. I think it's just slow because no matter what you do, a hard plastic just won't have the same glide as metal blades on ice. That said, I'm sure the increased resistance helps with working your muscles while you skate, and teaching you to push harder.

    • @youngsyr
      @youngsyr 6 років тому

      Well, a small amount of lubrication can stop a car engine (metal on metal) destroying itself through friction, so my guess is that lubrication would help, even if it doesn't get you all the way to the feel of ice.
      If you're already in for $1,500+ like +Nathan is, then another $25 for a bottle of silicone spray is probably worth a shot.

      Aaron White yeah I think that it’s 100 percent not meant for playing games on but training. I’m interested in buying them because Then I can shoot with my stakes on, then it wouldn’t dull your blades as much

    It would be really nice to see this demonstrated on different hollows. The first comment from people skating on synthetic ice is always about it digging in too much, so why not try and skate on a 1" radius vs the traditional 1/2" or 5/8"?

    We have those other tiles for outside use and they did not last long in the Texas heat. They curled up on the ends and made for difficult stick handling drills. The bottoms of these look the same and therefore would not trust them to last here in the Texas Heat.

      Doge Nation so far I love them, little slow but you get used to it and learn to skate on the tiles. I’m 108 pounds and it still definitely dulls your skates after 2 hours or 1 hour but all it takes is going down to the rink and sharping them. What it’s like to skate on the tiles is a little slow in some skating movements but then also some other skating movements feels just like ice

      The Tiles feature a self-lubricating agent with no need for wax or add-on liquids, and have the best coefficient levels of friction on the market (10-15% greater than real ice)

    Do the blades scar the plastic?
    Is there a Zamboni tool that fills in the scratches so the plastic will be “cleaned” or be made “like new” after a diligent practice? So your blades won’t slip into the same old grooves or worse cause the blades to go one way and you the other...
