this one makes me really sad. i still drop in here and there. but lots of good memories with my family as child esp with the baseball card shows they always had
I grew up in the area and the Enfield Square was a regular stop, particularly this time of year. I only ever go there for Target now. I think it started to quickly slid once Ruby Tuesdays closed. Go to a movie, grab something at Ruby Tuesdays. Fond memories of the place back in the 70’s and Saturday mall trips. The record store, Record Town, was a favorite spot (kind of where the movie theater is now). JCPenny, G-Fox, etc.
I heard that integrity martial arts is in the enfield square mall now. They used to be in the Scitico Plaza right next to the Scitico Barbershop. I also heard that they wanted more space to have classes. I went to integrity martial arts when I was younger and I know that the old space was not quite enough to handle a big group of people. The place had only two dojo rooms that were at least the size of your living room.
Probably should've waited for Christmas Eve to see how "lively" it gets. Reminds me to get the hidden camera ready for my Christmas Eve walkthrough of Whitney Field. Probably the 2nd most requested thing I'm asked for in retail videos, far behind the Thanksgiving Eve (or "eve-eve") "Grocery Shopping Fun at "The Zoo"", the Market Basket at Whitney Field. Want to see a madhouse. Funny thing is it's almost how it always is any day. :)
Nice video. I always loved Enfield Mall,. And the dollar store was my favorite. Didnt know it was still open and nice to see they decorated for Christmas.
Churches typically appear in malls shortly before they close up, also hair braiding places and dollar stores. Often they have handmade signs or a banner for a store sign. Bath & Bodyworks and GNC Nutrition Centers are usually the last to go.
What happened at Lincoln Mall in Lincoln, RI after it became Lincoln Commons, most of the interior stores closed and the remaining stores became outward facing with no connection to the interior.
I don’t think the mall is going to do well with the movie theater closed. There’s a dead mall by me where Target is an anchor and also still has Santa Claus. Namdar is going to be the nail in the coffin for this mall. I used to love Christmas time at the mall.
Really sad watching this...This was the first mall i remember going to...I believe I was 3 years old, 1974. We had moved to Massachusetts and this mall was pretty close over the border. I think there was a Child World there and I lost my mind running through there. Fast forward about 12 years and this is the last mall I visited before we moved again. They can knock down buildings and repurpose until the end of time, but it can never replace the awesome memories that these places held for myself and others of my generation.
Crazy how they closed the movie theater 😢 I think there was talk about movie bath and body works to one of the nearby shopping plazas. I was suprised outback closed because I went there a lot too and business didn’t seem bad. You should do dead mall restaurant reviews
You know the funny thing? There's SO much shopping and retail in all the surrounding areas of the mall that the mall itself is really useless. Anyone who's been to Enfield knows what I mean. There's Kohl's, Ocean State Job Lot, Home Depot, Burlington, and about 3 grocery stores all within each other. So what's the point of even having the mall when everything it outside of it?
I actually don't. I didn't start going here until about 1993 or so. I think the fountains were gone by then because I have no memory of them. Thanks for watching!
Damn, that mall is a sad sight . But it’s just gonna be a matter of time before it officially closes. I would venture to guest that the land the mall sits on is prime real estate for development?
The now defunct Berkshire Mall, the one located Near Pittsfield, MA had many similarities to this one, the Sears was first to go. It has the Target on its own property (the rest is closed). When the mall was open it was owned by a relator group that did maintain it. the wrestling thing was tried as well as the weird private stores that didn't make it.
If the malls close, I'll miss them. Not because of the shopping (I never buy anything) but because they were an ideal place to walk, especially during the winter.
I think the problem is that they built too many malls on unfavorable locations back then. I'm from Germany and thus I don't know much about Conneticut but Wiki says that there are only about 3,6 Million inhabitants today. Too many malls for too few people i would guess. Where those now dead malls even to a 100% flourishing when they were new? The sad thing is all the work and craftsmenship which was into these malls. So many nice details; loving these postmodern floor tiles!
So the only Ct mall where G Fox wasnt an original anchor is the Sonos Collection right since thats a new mall right? Anyway sad to see this mall go I had plans to visit it too so how much longer is it still going to be open for?
So I still have time to go see it then. So if I watch this video when I'm there it should match what I'm seeing since its up to date right unless more local businesses move in when I do go there since that's what's been happening right. But is it ok to watch this video when I'm there or no cause I might get in trouble with security there with the way mall security is?
@@fleabittenadventures well Namdar was the previous owner I think and since they sold it it might not be doomed after all since they never take care of malls and I'm sure whoever's the next owner I'm sure they won't do the same thing Namdar does so this mall might stand a fighting chance at turning things around and coming back.
It’s sad to see any mall in this kind of shape. Do you have a sort of set geographical area that you like to stay within when visiting and filming these walk thrus?
Yes. I generally stay within a few hours driving distance from home. I can't currently afford to go too much further than that. UA-cam doesn't pay me enough yet.
Midway mall in Elyria Ohio is in worse shape than this. They used to be owned by Namdar. The county port authority had to have the courts remove Namdar as owner because it was a nuisance.
The mall would rather collect no rent instead of lowering rent to make it attractive to businesses. It’s an interesting business strategy. It’s like they want the mall to fail so they can claim a loss on their taxes. Any business that does move in has to overcharge customers to make the rent payments and customers clearly ain’t falling for that.
I think you'd have to be crazy to buy a mall in this era. WHY? Your never going to turn a profit with the stores going out of business! Not enough people to even maintain the property.
😐 Who works out at a shopping mall? NOBODY goes to a shopping mall gym. That's like a putting a toilet right in the center of Walmart and expecting people to take a dump while all of the other shoppers watch them. Think about it. Some dude is sweaty, grunting and lifting weights while everyone else is walking around carrying shopping bags. That's just out of place and weird when you're the one sweaty grunting dude in a sea of shoppers
Party City and GameStop NEED TO CLOSE!!!! They are literally playing bankrupt shannigans. Everything else has left (except bath and body which will probably close sometime this year). Da Money Pit came from Eastfield. They won’t make it. As you said probably by the end of ‘24 this will be an empty mall with just a Target entrance.
I haven’t been to Enfield Square in a VERY long time. I definitely agree that Enfield is a truly DEAD mall. Compared to places like Westfarms, Buckland, and Meriden, it’s definitely DEAD
they have their share of empty spaces, but I’d consider it a busier mall than Enfield definitely. Buckland is more than one level compared to Enfield which is only one level.
😐 New Age Wrestling?!! No wonder they went out of business. Nobody is going to walk into a shopping mall wearing spandex tights and then roll around on the mall floor while Wrestling with other sweaty dudes. That's just weird. People are trying to shop and eat. Nobody wants to see two dudes groping each other and rolling around on the floor.
@19:15 I'm calling you out on the graffiti part. You said there's some artistic to some of it. Wrong all kinds of graffiti looks like crap I can care less what people say. There is no artistic to any graffiti.
It’s so sad seeing it like this. It used to be such a pretty little mall.
this one makes me really sad. i still drop in here and there. but lots of good memories with my family as child esp with the baseball card shows they always had
We just opened a bubble tea shop next to Target. Hopefully will bring some customers to the mall
Thank you! I appreciate your business and energy! You are awesome

This is really sad, I lived in Suffield and Enfield from 1983 to 1998 and would go to this mall all the time.
Connecticut's favorite dead mall. (i would love to see you start doing food reviews, or restaurant reviews).
I heard that integrity martial arts is in the enfield square mall now. They used to be in the Scitico Plaza right next to the Scitico Barbershop. Restaurant review would be great
This mall is like a restless lover to you that's always coming back for more lol
What happened at Lincoln Mall in Lincoln, RI after it became Lincoln Commons, most of the interior stores closed and the remaining stores became outward facing with no connection to the interior.
You should check out Eastbrook Mall
I don’t think the mall is going to do well with the movie theater closed. There’s a dead mall by me where Target is an anchor and also still has Santa Claus. Namdar is going to be the nail in the coffin for this mall. I used to love Christmas time at the mall.
The movie theater was so nice and peaceful 😔 gonna miss it
I was here a month ago can't believe it's still open
You should go on a sunday before the holidays for their craft fair. You've gotta check out the mushroom lady!
Looking at that mall traffic and with the theater now closed, 90% Target traffic might be conservative.
8:25 - There were two Macy's stores. When first opened, were they one G. Fox and one Filenes?
I believe one was originally G Fox and the other was JC Penney.
@@fleabittenadventures Further along you do say that G. Fox became the Filenes. .. then Macy's in 2006. ..when Macy's took over May Company.
omg the best drive thru video would be duchess in milford right off exit 40, it is so good
i live in enfield. I can remember when it was jam packed .
Really sad watching this...This was the first mall i remember going to...I believe I was 3 years old, 1974. We had moved to Massachusetts and this mall was pretty close over the border. I worked at the KayBee Toys there in the late 80's Early90's... Very sad to see the state of this mall. It was a great Mall in the past.
Remember the fountains that used to be in the middle stretch? 70-80’s
I actually don't. I didn't start going here until about 1993 or so. I think the fountains were gone by then because I have no memory of them. Thanks for watching!
You ever go to the Walpole Mall in Massachusetts? It's kinda dead
No, but it's on my list.
Ridgmar Mall in Fort Worth, TX, their Bath & Body Works finally left. My reason to go to that mall disappeared.
Damn, that mall is a sad sight . But it’s just gonna be a matter of time before it officially closes. I would venture to guest that the land the mall sits on is prime real estate for development?

That's what the outdoors are for. Suck it up buttercup
You’d think a big indoor playground would be a great way to attract families all year round.
And summer.
I'd watch restaurant reviews!
Can you please go back into the mall and show the skylight right outside the Macy’s mall entrance ? I’ve always wondered if it’s lights or a skylight.
I don’t know if it’s skylights or lights but would love to see.
Someday.
Nice video 👋
Da Money Pit was in the east field mall in springfield, must've moved to Enfield once it closed
Is it true there’s a raising canes there though? The website showed it on their store directory
Yes, it's in the parking lot. I haven't been there though as the line is usually ridiculously long.
Bath and Body Works and Claire’s have both since closed :( it’s even MORE dead now!
I'll take another look in the few months. Thanks.
I think the problem is that they built too many malls on unfavorable locations back then. Actually, I've drank 4 months "past the date" soda, it's fine as long as it's sealed. May be a bit flat, but it's safe to drink.
I've tried that and gotten violently ill :/
Just an FYI to your church comment. Netcast Church moved into the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers Mass.
Thanks for the info. That must have happened after I was at Liberty Tree Mall, or maybe I just missed it. Thanks
So the only Ct mall where G Fox wasnt an original anchor is the Sonos Collection right since thats a new mall right? Anyway sad to see this mall go I had plans to visit it too so how much longer is it still going to be open for?
No one seems to know if or when it'll close. We'll have to wait and see who buys it and what they plan to do with it.

Surprised you didn't interview Santa to get his take on the mall or get a picture with him?
That would probably get me kicked out.
Da money pit is a refugee store from East field
Is it near the fairgrounds
Looks like very dead to me. So many closed places. Kind of sad 😢
It’s sad to see any mall in this kind of shape. Do you have a sort of set geographical area that you like to stay within when visiting and filming these walk thrus?

I'll buy it!
you will go broke heating it LOL
They'd have to pay me to own it.
Rockingham park in Salem nh is still busy as hell 😂
Somehow it’s still hanging on!
I'm amazed the Party City is still open...
New age wrestling never was able to even open. They moved out . Alot of political stuff they moved back to springfield
What about the kebab and Cafe that replaced Panera and the pizza place?
Namdar owns this mall. That would explain why it’s dead.
i saw one in pa with a church in 22
Wild guess. Simon Properties is one of the prospective buyers.
they would just close the mall
Simon wouldn't touch this dead duck with the proverbial ten-foot pole.
Midway mall in Elyria Ohio is in worse shape than this. They used to be owned by Namdar. The county port authority had to have the courts remove Namdar as owner because it was a nuisance.
I tried to win that Yoshi! I don’t think it’s possible…
Well this just made me depressed. I used to love going to that mall as a kid.
Yes, sir this mall has or at least it seems about 60 % of it is not used.
Bath & Body Works and GameStop have now closed
Really? I'll have to check that out. That's not good.
Gamestop is still open.
Well, looks like this mall might officially be on the chopping block. They're saying it's gonna be torn down and redeveloped in a matter of years.

These failing malls should be made into upscale housing.....no section 8, no affordable housing!
Hold on to your pipedream
