I remember watching Einshine's childhood Japanese snacks video and he was saying there's a lot of gambling involved in children's snacks. I think it's interesting with this restaurant how there's a gambling element to the capsule toys as well.

oh honey i couldve sworn after the two fancy shmancy omakase sushi vids that simon and martina have become experienced in the ways of sushi eating. tips for green(for wasabi?)horns: 1)dip the side of fish/ingredient rather than the rice into sou sauce. 2) depends on the restaurant, but some sushi places will actually include the recommended amount of wasabi for each piece of nigiri in between the ingredient and rice layers, ergo having "the optimal amount" of wasabi fro each bite, allowing for dippage into plain soysauce. just suggestions, much love

All I could think was 45 bucks for 25 plates of sushi and a toy wasn't half bad!! Definitely need to go visit and try that place out.

We mix wasabi in our shoyu here in Hawaii, but it's not a proper/polite thing to do in Japan!

Here in California, I discovered a chain named "Kula Revolving Sushi" and they are practically the same. The prices are decent too! $2.25/plate (except some items on menu like ramen bowl/rice bowl). Good thing though is you are guaranteed to win a capsule toy every 15 plates. Every 5plates, there is a short video too. They also change the capsule toys every 15-30days.

Again....a fun video! I've been to a sushi joint with a conveyor belt, but not one with prizes, lol. You guys should seriously consider visiting zauo (preferably the one in Yokohama), but there's a branch in Shinjuku, a restaurant chain where you go fishing for your meal. You guys would have a blast!

+Simon and Martina You always end up with too much shoyu and I (and others) personally find that it inhibits the release of aerosol type particles in the wasabi. (I.E. when wasabi gets aerated) You tend to lose some of the minor notes of freshly grated Wasabia Japonica. But if it's "wasabi" as in horseradish and wasabi mix, it's already not to its fullest potential, so it's not as big of a deal.

I've been to a restaurant like this in Cupertino, CA near Valco! Every 15 plates (for $2.25 a plate) to get a capsule toy. The restaurant's name is Kula here!
I live in Matsusaka city in Mie Prefecture and we have a rotating yakiniku (japanese style korean bbq) restaurant. soooooo goooooood.
In California, they also have a conveyor belt sushi place called Kula and every time you eat 15 plated, they'll give you a hello kitty gashapon. I got one and it was so cute! The 2 hour wait to go in was sorta worth it!! xD

There's a restaurant like this in San Diego called Kula. Really popular. But each 15 plates gets you a capsule toy guaranteed. It was fun. though between the 3 of us, we only got up to 20 plates.
Next time I visit Japan, I will go to this restaurant, get as much toys as I can, and send them to you.
Because I don't care about toys, I care about how you make us laugh.
