    Good morning Troy and Michele. Gamma Glide 16:53 to Troy's coffee cup raise at @17:44 🤣🤣🤣... Funny timing I just put that Glide in a VC98 for a client who loves it. He is the only client who uses it, and Gamma only makes it in mini-reels and half packs. I wish it would die like Hollow Core and Hollow Core Pro.

    I use confidential 1.15 @ 24kg in the main with the tour bite 1.10 @20kg in the cross
    The lower tension and the thinner cross gives the main more ability to move and snap back. And i get good control. And i love the pocketing of the confidential more than other poly strings.
    I have tried the square strings in the main on a round one in the cross, but the cross was a 0.05 thicker than the main and to me it decreases the spin and the directional control was lower.
    The last change i made was having a bigger difference in tension between main and cross (cross lower) which really increased spin as well as widens the sweet spot as well.

    I am a bit confused with this measure spin potential. It does not seem to align with the marks and comments you give for spin in reviews. E.g. technifibre triax multifilament has a higher spin potential 5.8 than e.g hyper g soft 5.2 however reading the reviews it seems the players feel the hyper g soft gives more spin. How can this be? Also wilson revolve has a spin potential around 7 and wilson revolve spin has spin potential around 5 and reviewers seem to feel that revolve spin has as much if not more spin.

    Excellent podcast. The main issue for me is comfort. A full bed of poly is too much for my arm. Feels great until it becomes too painful. I need a hybrid these days. Poly mains and multi crosses. Doesn't make much difference what that poly or multi is. Tension at 50lbs is max.

      i give you my combo, Tour Bite soft mains with Head Sonic Pro (very arm friendly this Head string) crosses at medium tension around 48/50 pounds or 22/23kg max for this. below you can if you want. it feels very nice. a little extra oompf in power and feeling with the Sonic Pro, control remains the same. for durability use some silicon butter or spray to lubricate your strings before stringing the racket. don't need tons of it. better snap back from the mains. they slide well.

      Aaaaaah, sounds good! A friend had solinco tour bite soft 17g and a 17g synthetic on the cross last week. I tried it and liked the feel, spin, pocketing and control. And, it had plenty of punch baseline rallies.
      Yes, all 3 of you make great points on using similar strings for less financial strain.
      Piggybacking on the cost&comfort conscious people, I have great success with poly hybrids Luxilon Element, Vibe and 4G on mains and slippery coated inexpensive synthetic strings on the crosses.
      A poly Head Sonic Pro Edge and a good synthetic also works well as a hybrid.
      A good deal poly was Prince XT for feel and control with a synthetic on the cross or a Head multifiber as a comfort cross string.

    Hi guys. Quick question for Troy 😀 what shoes 👟 do you recommend for cushion and stability? I am a heavy guy who moves really good with power sprints. I have a pair of Vapor Cage 4 which do the job and want for get a second pair that will offer just a little bit more speed, sooooo what about the Turbo? Thx ( sorry for the long question)

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому +1

      When it comes to a plush feel, and high level comfort, the GP Turbo is great. Maybe a slight step down in stability, as the Vapor Cage 4 is ultra stable, and durable. As far as speed goes, the GP Turbo is actually a bit heavier on the scale, but maybe feels a bit speedier initially, as they feel a bit less rigid during the break-in period. Another shoe, if you are considering ones outside of Nike, is the KSwiss Hypercourt Supreme, as it offers a lot of comfort, feels lightweight, and has pretty good support, and stability. Not quite as stable as the Vapor Cage 4, but other than the Asics Gel Resolution 8, and adidas Barricade 18, there aren't any that really compete in stability. I would also consider the Asics Court FF2, and Gel Resolution 8. Troy, TW

    Coming back to the game after 17 years was a little overwhelming. Nothing I used to play with is popular anymore. I was a heavy string breaker in Jr's and university. My racquets used to be strung at 75 with Kevlar and synthetic. I settled in with the cx200 tour, I like the thin beams. I went with solinco confidential in 17g. at 65lbs. I was surprised at how much feel was there. The strings are really slick but i may try a hybrid with some tnt or live wire. They are the only thing I remember liking.

    • @jiboo6850
      @jiboo6850 2 роки тому +1

      confidential mains and Head Sonic Pro crosses. but you need to step back on tension because new strings don't need to be that high. anything below 40 or above 60 is useless. if you can lubricate your strings with a bit of silicon in butter or spray before stringing the racket. clean the excess at the end with a microfiber rag. it will increase the durability by a lot. better snap back from the mains too.

      We have sort of mixed thoughts about it, however the positive characteristics of the string is that it is fairly comfortable for a poly, and provides a more lively feel. Some of our playtesters really enjoy that response and feel, and others were left wanting more control, and a firmer/crisper feel. One thing that we noticed is that the main strings were moving a bit more than usual for a poly, and slightly getting stuck out of alignment. Just as a reference, some of our favorite polys are Solinco Hyper-G, Confidential, Head Lynx Tour, Volkl Cyclone. Troy, TW

    Question for Troy - my 14 year old plays Babolat Aero 285gram frame and we string it 50pounds Alu Rough 16L throughout - he breaks strings every 2nd day or about 8 hours of playing. Can we substitute the crosses with something different to get a bit more hours out of it ?

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому

      I see, sounds like he's a big hitter, and/or likely generates lots of topspin. ALU Rough is a bit softer, and more elastic than the regular ALU Power, so maybe consider the regular ALU Power in the 16 gauge (130). Besides that, you could also consider strings like a Prince Tour XP 16 or 15L, Solinco Confidential 16, Luxilon Big Banger Original 16, Kirschbaum Pro Line X 16. There are a lot of options for 16 gauge polys, or even some 15L gauge. Troy, TW

    • @LarzB
      @LarzB 2 роки тому

      If he creates already so much spin in the aero, which has a very open setting pattern, maybe demo a racket with a denser a pattern, that will also decrease string friction. And it will give him more control. As it seems that he doesn't need the additional spin potential of the aero of he breaks them already so quickly at that age.
      Maybe in stead of trying to get more out of that fairly expensive string, use a cheaper string and string the Rackets yourself. Like msv focus hex (which i use and plays also very well). And of course the thickest gage possible.

    • @alfandosavant4639
      @alfandosavant4639 3 роки тому

      Try to answer this based on my experience only. Poly is better than multis in elasticity and snapback. If you pull 1 string of poly in your racquet, it'd want to return to its initial position. This doesn't really happen to multis.
      Slick coating of poly surely helps for the snapback.

    • @tenniswarehouse
      @tenniswarehouse  3 роки тому

      We usually find more elasticity with multis, in the sense that they stretch or pocket the ball more, and create more energy return. Snap-back is better with polys, due to the slick coating, or surface. Troy, TW
