I managed to find the post on Twitter, where it wasn't so blurry :) The movie they are reviewing is Fight Club. Therefore ... the first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club. So they can't write an essay about it, as that would be talking about it.
5:14. Speaking as someone with a negative interest in football (like I would have to be more interested than I am to even rate as "indifferent"), that doesn't really explain the offside rule at all, all it does is illustrate that it exists.
