1965 Epiphone Texan Converted To Non-adjustable Saddle Sounds Way Better

  • I was planning on uploading this to my other channel but decided to just upload it here. Sorry to those that don't like these kind of videos. I'll be uploading a tech video , probably Monday or Tuesday.
I pulled out the adjustable saddle and made a Brazilian Rosewood insert/plug to fill the spot where that adjustable saddle was. It took a lot of scraping and sanding to get the insert to blend into the main saddle but it turned out very nice. The insert was not glued in either, in case someone wants to take it back to stock some day. Then I routed the insert for a bone saddle.
I can hear a massive difference in the sound and it's got more resonance now too, in my opinion. I can still go lower with the saddle too, but it will need a neck re-set some day. At least it will be fine until things get a little better financially and then I will have it repaired by a good luthier.
The UA-cam channel that gave me the inspiration to do this was • '65 Epiphone Serenader... which is called "twoodwrd". I think his actual shop name is Woodford Instruments, in Canada, and he is one of the greats for guitar repair. The link above is to just one of his Epiphone repairs. I couldn't find the one I was looking for and decided to link that one.
Also, if you would like to help my channel out, to purchase items for review and maybe even have more giveaways, please feel free to donate to my PayPal.

I can tell you have been playing more lately, David. This was really good, brother man. Great work on the guitar and the video was perfectly done. That Texan sounds fantastic 👍🏻

Thank you Randy. I've now got another favorite... I've always loved this guitar but now it's moved to the number 1 spot again.
I can't believe I uploaded this to the wrong channel again. That's one of the downsides of having more than one channel. I may delete this here and reupload it to the other channel. We'll see.. Thanks again Randy, for everything.
