Jesus’s Grave - Garden Tomb or Holy Sepulchre? (where is Golgotha?)
Вставка

- Where is Golgotha? Where in Jerusalem did Jesus’s crucifixion take place and where is the site of his burial? Did it happen in the Church of the Holy sepulcher or in the Garden Tomb.
We are now in the Garden Tomb, which is considered to be the Protestant site of the burial and resurrection of Jesus.

it doesn't matter where Jesus is buried for three days. what matters is that he is alive from the dead and he is alive forever🔥✝️
The best news is He is risen. Praise Jesus!
На віки слава
For me, the best news is that He died so that we can have eternal life. It was His death that took away our sins, not His resurrection. It is a good thing that He is risen. God rose Him from death as promised.
As a Catholic, if I ever come to visit Israel, I will hire you as a guide. I love your respect for my faith.
Thank you very much for the excellent explanation. The Garden of Gordon's Tomb is really true \o/. Abundant blessings from here in the city of São Paulo, Brazil

Thank you, Oren! As always, a thoughtful, precise, yet kind-hearted discussion of a delicate topic, beautifully photographed. If people like you, instead of politicians, ran the world, life could be a lot happier. Bless you-- be well and be safe.
Loved the video of the Garden Tomb, enjoyed the walk too.
I agree with your assessment Oren, and I’m a Protestant. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre has the better claim to the authentic site.
Obviously. The Protestant claim is ridiculous.
@@clearjr1 to be frank, the so called "Garden Tomb" Calvary claim is based on nothing more that apophenia made public by Otto Thenius in order to fulfill the envy of Protestants for having no share of site in Holy Land, therefore devoid of any historical legitimacy. It's no shocker why some would outright say The Garden Tomb is illegitimate, and discredit its claim.
Neither is legit. St Helena found what she set out to find because of course she would. She’s Constantines mother. Expect truth from someone like that? Don’t be silly.
His body was dumped into a mass grave.
The whole story of Jesus is mostly if not all fiction

I grew up Protestant myself. Never been Catholic. I absolutely agree with the sentiments presented here. Churches should be monuments to events and beliefs. If you need to see a place that Jesus touched, let it be your own life.
beautifully said
This is really the essence of what Protestants believe. Thank you for describing it so well. However, I do think it would be quite special to visit Israel and the sites where Jesus walked (and was buried in).
As you say the most important is that Jesus was risen! It would be nice to know the exactly place, but then it would be idolize as the others. For sure He was born, buried, and resurrected in a chosen land! …

Well explained. Thanks for a well balanced explanation of the difference in the sites.
A good way to handle a sensitive topic. Well done.
The Lord Jesus Christ was not and is not worried about sensitive topics. State what is, not what isn’t. The garden tomb is obvious, especially with the skull in the side of the hill.

Thanks for finally getting this video up, man! Insightful. Looking forward to the next one!
I love going back to see Jerusalem.
The site of the Holy Sepulchre was outside the ancient city, though still on Mt Zion. When Empress St. Helena found the 3 crosses buried at the foot of Golgotha, she found the True Cross worked a miracle (raised a dead man, or cured a dying man). Pretty strong confirmation that the site marked by the pagan temple and carefully guarded and transmitted memory is the real site.
Thx Oren. We Catholics base the belief in the Sepulchre site based on Scripture and a very old memory of witnesses! All the sites seem beautiful and hope to visit some day. Jim Hartz
Which scripture points to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre site? I agree that it has the most going for it historically and archaeologically and that the Garden Tomb is a non-starter, but what scripture can I go to that would lead me to the Sepulchre site? Thanks.
What scriptures?
What witnesses, please? Is there any record that the first century church kept a record of the site, please?
@@JonJaedenscripture isn’t everything. Holy tradition is as equally as important
@@orionfernandes4587 Where did I say scripture was "everything"? The poster said scripture provided evidence for the authenticity of the Holy Sepulchre site. I merely want to know which scripture is intended in the claim so it can be evaluated along with any other evidence.

Thank you for this episode! I was there to the Garden Tomb. I certainly saw the small cliff which deserves the name 'Skull' because I did see the giant eye sockets and the nose holes. But you're right. Place isn't important at all. I am very excited about your next episode! I wonder what are the biblical obstacles for sincerely truthful God seeking Israel people to not know that God's spiritual Kingdom has started already by Jesus.. Daniel 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands(Jesus), which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
The garden tomb is a first temple period tomb. It cannot be the tomb because it belongs to the wrong time period. So if you believe the garden tomb is the tomb of Jesus, you are believing a lie perpetrated by the british general Gordon pasha

This is a very helpful and balanced perspective on the debate about the location of the site of Jesus crucifixion and burial. Thank you!
I.have visited these sites. I can honestly say I felt a peaceful presence at the Garden Tomb that I did not feel at the church of the Holy Sepulcher.
The garden tomb cannot be the tomb of Jesus because it was constructed in the wrong time period. The garden tomb is a first temple period tomb. David and Solomon have higher chances of having been buried there than Jesus
I cried inside the tomb in Holy Sepulcher like when the first time I came to believe in Jesus, so I feel it is the right place though I did not visit the tomb garden.
This is so great and thank you for this video !!!! Cannot wait to see more - or even how the Jew see Jesus. :) God bless !!!!!!!!
Thank you, Oren!
Fantastic. 🙏🙏🙏
This video is spot-on. I'm a protestant and visited the Garden Tomb. I can understand the attraction to it because it definitely has more of a consistency with the Bible describing a surrounding garden. However what the Protestants don't understand is that the currently existing walls of Jerusalem are NOT the same walls that existed in the 1st century AD. The current walls were built by a Sultan in 1537 AD. The original walls of Jerusalem were much more in the interior of the city than the current walls are, which puts the Church of the Holy Sepulchre OUTSIDE the original city walls. Also there have been found other tombs dating to 1st century AD right in the same proximity as the Holy Sepulchre, proving again that in the time of Jesus, the Holy Sepulchre site was outside the city walls.
Agree.
Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
As a Christian, I view these as symbols and not factual places. I love what each represents and stands for. I love visiting the church of the holy sephlecure (sp) each time, regardless of whether it’s factual or not. And I love your point of views on this as well as all of your videos as an Israeli citizen. Keep up the good work.
should be exciting though, that while these might not be the exact places, they are more than symbolic: they historically overlap with the exact places. even if the garden is not the exact place, it is close to where it was, and it recreates the environment and how it looked and felt.

It is not so important where it to place but what. But for me it is always astonishing to see how peaceful and quiet it is inside the garden tomb despite it's surroundings.

In the late seventies, I took a tour with Arnold Fructenbaum. He made it clear that the actual site was most likely at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher for the reasons you state. But he used Gordon's tomb and another to show how the actual tomb would have appeared before it was razed to erect a church building.

I appreciate your sensible conclusion that it's not about the actual site, but rather about the Resurrection. Evidence is good, but we must never forget the essence of it all. "He is not here".

Thank you, Oren. Really liked your comment. It's true. Most important thing is that Jesus came, died and rose again. Happy New Year.
Excellent video- it's informative and fair to both sites. What does it matter anyway, 'He isn't here, He has risen!"
Well said showing the facts as ee know them. It's so hard to see how the church site dimensions would have worked out, i.e. Crucifixion site distance to tomb is so close...

I was in there in the church of sepulchre last week. One of the best places I've visited.
The Holy Sepulchre has a more solid Foundation, but The Garden Tomb seems like a nice replica of the original setting. God's Presense is in both places...
I'm from india ,thank you for great brother
Thank you for all things.
Everything is amazing.
When Ron Wyatt's team was cleaning the area in and around the Garden Tomb. A man in a white robe came to the to the team to thank them for cleaning his tomb. I would have passed out, but the men were shocked to see this man. Ron went back to the entrance area to ask if anyone saw the man in the white robe, and they said there was no man of that description. You make your own decision as the team did who this man was in a white robe. If you are like me, the answer is easy, and it locked the Garden Tomb in as the real tomb of Jesus.
You made a very good point, for us Christians, we celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the dead. It does not really matter where it happened. We enjoyed seeing the Holy Land through your videos. Shalom from Colombia !
Another great video, hopefully I will be returning for another visit in September.
I feel no matter what God loves that we are interested and wanting to learn means so much 💙 We are seeking, we shall find 🕊 Thank you for your video 🙏
Great video!! Am Yisrael Chai!!💪🇮🇱
Nobody really knows for sure where the actual tomb was. Excellent video as always.
I believe that the burial was at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, there is so much more evidence for the Church to the Location, however i believe that when it happened, where the Church of The Holy Sepulchre would have looked alot like the Garden tomb does now, but that is my take
If are born again and you have the Holy Spirit living in you, you can know which is the right tomb of Jesus. When I was a young Christian and saw a video of the Garen Tomb for the first time. I knew immediately when I saw it that it was Jesus' tomb. And I don't doubt it even now. I believe Holy Spirit knows better than anyone else. Even better than scientist. Some dating methods of scientist are not accurate and we cannot blindly belive in those anyway. So I trust in what God revealed to me rather than what people say and what people think of it.
But most important is that Jesus has resurrected! ❤️🙌
Blessings in Jesus name!🙏💝
I don’t view the garden tomb as the real official tomb for biblical and historical reasons. The tomb is 7-8 centuries older than Christ, the garden didn’t exist during Christ but during the crusades, and the skull rock probably was not there during the time of Christ. However even though I don’t think it is the real one, it is a visual representation of what it was like. I treat it as virtual reality, it isn’t real but you still get the experience. And Christ has risen.
Oren you are such a great guide, love your channel :)
JESUS thank you for showing all men how to lead their life thru Faith I’m in GOD the Father and works to include charity and morals of society. You showed us how to stand up against the unjust and the immoral and rebellious individuals. Hear our repented plea forgiveness. Blessed Mother Mary pray for us who have recourse to thee. 🙏
I love the Garden tomb for the reasons you suggested, a peaceful place to contemplate that Jesus rose from the grave which is far more important to a believer than the accurate place where his body was laid. I also love the Church of the Holy Sepulchre but not for the dark room (tomb) that can be visited which is kind of eerie but for the architecture which I took time to explore on my second visit there. It is amazing to see all the rooms, nooks and crannies of that building which you would have no idea was inside from looking at the outside. Thanks again for another awesome tour! I always learn something new.
Just call it a garden then..
The church seems to "touristry" I do not know if it is really the place. The garden tomb seems authhentic, it looks like what it would be in the time of Jesus. I would love to visit both as a christian and a human being.
Thank you for all of this.

Nice video brother. I m from India , bangalore
I really appreciate that you are straightforward in most issues. About this video, the "huge and historical" problem with catholic church is that they invent and create their own doctrines, traditions and stories!
Personally, I don't believe anything coming from catholic church!
It is clear that they "have created and designed" their own "Jesus/Mary routes".
We all know that Constantine and his mother built churches upon some sites that 👉they said were "holy places".
If someone will ask me to choose between the "catholic Holy sepulchre" or the Garden Tomb, based on the evidence and info that we have at hand, I'll say right away: Garden Tomb!
Yes, you're right! We don't have enough evidence to be highly certain about some biblical places, but let say that, the "margin of error" is way less on the Garden Tomb!
I really enjoyed the Garden of Tomb both in person in 2016 and now through your video! Thank you for the information comparing the facts of both places!
ONE FOR ISRAEL Ministry channel is an amazing resource for those who are curious about Jesus and Christianity from an Israeli/Jewish perspective.
I'm a protestant. Having lived there before, visited both places and spent much time researching and investigating, I must say that the Garden Tomb sounds like a ridiculous candidate for Golgotha. Here's my theory:
1. The protestants arrived on the scene late, like 1,500 years late
2. They saw that everyone already had a slice of the pie
3. They too wanted a slice of the pie
4. The Garden Tomb was created as a result
It's a very nice place, no doubt. But I can hardly believe it's Golgotha...
❤❤
💖🙏
you are the best thing on youtube !!!
I had the wonderful opportunity to visited both places, the garden tomb and the Church of the holy sepulcher and The Church felt more authentic site.
Thanks for the video - really good and sensible approach. From a purely historical and archeological perspective it is obvious that the Garden Tomb is not authentic. I have been and it's a nice place for showing what it could have looked like but the weight of evidence points to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. I look forward to a return visit next month.

Am vizitat aceste locuri de foarte multe ori cit am trăit .Nu departe de morminte am locuit aproape 10 ani.
I was a Roman Catholic now Aramaic-Messianic Jew and always believed that the Garden tomb was a great representation to a similar tomb nearby that was Eashoa’s (Yeshua’s) tomb. The Golgotha near the Garden tomb is authentic. You can see to the facing Golgotha on the right were Eashoa Msheeka was crucified the mountain broke off in front of the Cross. Eashoa Msheeka’s blood and water ran down through the rocks where the Arc of the Covenant is buried.
One day we will discover the actual accounts of where and how it happened.
But if I know Eashoa Msheeka these facts do not matter. We all need to humble ourselves, kindness and love to all. 🙏🏼
Out of curiosity, why did you leave the Catholic Church?
@@lukewilliams448 It was unfulfilling, too many scandals about Priests but what really did it was our current Pope stricken God’s words from the Bible. You may have a lifestyle that disagrees with God but you don’t change God’s words to accommodate that forbidden lifestyle.
Out of all these reasons there was a burning desire to find the truth after my death experience that catapulted my quest to seek out what was awoken inside to search for a place I can understand learn and speak with God or Eashoa and others about what I was reading or experiencing. So I went from the Roman Catholic bible to Baptist/Mormon King James Bible and out of these two things popped out Jewish Aramaic.
I discovered Tom Bradford a bible scholar who teaches from the Complete Jewish Bible after two years I blended the Aramaic after discovering Dr. Rocco Errico, I was extremely fascinated as Aramaic actually answered all my questions about things that seemed not to make sense in the Bible. After two years of studying still a novice thirsty for more I then discovered Rabbi Johnathan Cahn who solidified the Jewish teachings that perfectly rounded out my studies.
I continue to toggle between each of the three sources I find so enriching to begging closer to God and Eashoa. I am so happy it makes my soul complete with joy.
Jerusalem wasn’t the same size then as it is now. Holy sepulcher church was probably outside the city back then
Isn’t that what he just said in this video?
@@salyluz6535 no what I said is Jerusalem was way smaller so the holy sepulcher church was probably outside of the old Jerusalem boundaries now it’s inside the boundary.
@Immanuele Simonelli: Yes, I do agree with you. I’m sure I’ve heard several times in the past, that the Jewish quarter of the city was much smaller back then. I just thought he had also mentioned that in the video. But I was tired, and perhaps I’m not remembering that correctly. I will try to watch it again another time when I’m not sleepy. Have a good day!
@@salyluz6535 he said it was smaller. but tries to assume which church was where Jesus rose trying to apply the info from back then to now. But you haveto realize it was much different then and smaller. But what truly matters is to know that Jesus truly Resurrected.
